Last year, the media doubted. This year, the media fears the three-peat, using doubt or just-plain ignoring them as their facade. They fear this team because they don't know this team. This exact roster, both sides of the ball, has never had a regular season game together. Injuries never let an identity develop, but what did they do anyway? Adjust, and win. They're the healthiest and most prepared they've ever been. No body knows the ceiling of this team, and that's terrifying, because we're about to find out. In as little as 180 minutes of game time, they could be unseated as the greatest dynasty. Granted, Chiefs would still have a a ways to go to fully match the Pats, but with the threepeat secured, it’s going be much more a counting game. The last bit though, this is all happening *at the start of Mahomes career*. Mahomes has also beaten far superior defenses than Brady ever had to play. The Eagles defense was historically great, the Ravens defense last season was historically great with the leagues MVP on offense, and lets not forget the 49ers with how many future hall of fame players on both sides of the ball, all playing in their prime.

It’s crazy to think that 2 of the 3 times mahomes has not won the Super Bowl it was bc he lost to Tom Brady. Imagine if that wouldn’t have happened. He would already be the goat in the greatest dynasty. Who’d have known back then that those wins would become two of the most important of Brady’s career
@randypeaple853312 күн бұрын

@@ricktrujillo2622 that’s incorrect firstly they made it twice from 04-14 they lost both. Also they weren’t bad the years they missed either. Made a bunch of afc championship games. 10 years of that run for any franchise is really good but for it to be the weak point of a run where they won 6 superbowls. That longevity is different, taking nothing away from the chiefs at all but it’s different.

@deemity755713 күн бұрын
If they threepeat they don’t have to have a 20 year run. I’d argue that winning 6 SBs in 10 years is more impressive than winning 6 in 18. If they threepeat, then have a hypothetical down season or two if Kelce retires, Spags leaves,etc but then win two more before 2030 they’ll have won 6 titles between 2020 and 2029

Sorry, but the 3-peat has already been done. When you mentioned the Green Bay Packers not winning their 3rd Super Bowl in a row, you forget that they were already THREE time winners of the NFL from '65 - '67. And that was their SECOND 3-peat. They won three NFL Championships in a row from '29 - '31 as well. There was also the 3-peat of the Canton/Cleveland Bulldogs from '22 - '24. Need to up your game, Rich;-) Additionally, the Packers won 5 NFL Championships in 7 years in the '60's (they had 6 appearances in the Championship game in 8 years). THAT is the greatest dynasty ever. There is a reason they call it the Lombardi Trophy...
@luke-i1w12 күн бұрын
And the NFL had half the teams (or less) at those points that it does now. NFL and AFL teams never played each other till 1967. And not consistently till the official merger in 1970. It's apples to oranges. There was also no salary cap, no free agency rules, and no NFLPA for half of the years you mentioned. Hell, the Packers first 3-peat occurred before the forward pass was allowed. They weren't even playing the same game we're all watching today. Football and its rules and regulations are completely different in the last 40 years than it was at any of those times. That's why people talk about the "Super Bowl" era. There has been no 3-peat in modern football, specifically because of the rules that promote parity in the league.

@@zeusonolympus123 I'm sorry but no. He got outplayed by Mahomes in the first playoff match up (where Brady got to face a bottom 5 defense and Mahomes a top 10 one) and then in the second match up Mahomes had was running for his life cause the Chiefs were on their 3rd string right tackle, playing their 2nd string RT at left tackle cause he was the best option they had left, and 2nd string RG and LG against the leagues top pass rush from that season. If you look at what happened earlier in that season in the regular season match up between the two you'd see that the deference between the two games is almost purely playing a second string Oline. That and the Chief's pass catchers not being able to catch something in that game to save their lives. Brady on the other hand didn't have to deal with any of these struggles at the time. This is why "head to head" arguments aren't very. Team constructions vary too widely and the QBs are never on the field at the same time. You have to adjust for those discrepancies in team quality and THEN you can compare to how well the two played in that game. That's why this year Allen and Burrow have been the most impressive QBs this season since they had to over come significant roster weaknesses in order to win games.

In the moment it always feels bigger and achievements fade the older they get. So, look at the objective measures indicating dynasty. Division 10 out of 15 years including 9 consecutive. Division 17 out of 19 years including 11 consecutive. Six consecutive (maybe 7th inbound) championship appearances. Eight consecutive championship appearances including 14 out of 20 years. 9 SB appearances in 18 years for 6 Lombardis. (includes 5 appearances in 8 years with 3 wins and 4 appearances in 7 years with 3 wins) Six appearances in five years with four wins would be a massive landmark achievement, but still be at least a season short of that nearly 2 decade Patriots dominance.

I agree with the sentiment, "The Chiefs would be like the Beatles," if they win three in a row. If the Chiefs were to pull it off it'll be one of the most difficult paths, Bills or Ravens in AFC championship, Detroit or Philly in the SB. Of course first step is to beat the Texans!
