The rule that some people, such as parolees, may not have firearms allows them to be confiscated and an arrest made when the rule is violated. That is better than allowing criminals to carry guns without consequences.

well, it happened on the street, and the car probaby wasn't his. he returned fire. he will likely need an attny now. sadly.

@@Vassago1913 yeah, the law takes a dim view of people defending themselves even when they are inside their own house. you have to prove you were in fear of your life, and never shoot someone in the back. and you will always need an attorney in any case. in most cases you should just fire warning shots, still that can get you arrested for illegally discharging a fire arm. there is lots of interesting reading material on the internet regarding what happens in these cases.
