Jesse Marsch being rejected for the chance to coach his home country's national team, in favour of the federation re-hiring a less experienced and successful nepo baby, and then leading a rival nation to glory, would be one of the greatest "and I took it personal" arcs in football history...

@@kevinsmarx so by that logic, Argentina got lucky being on the easy side of the bracket? Anyways, when you’re a debutant as well as one of the lowest ranked countries in a tournament, I wouldn’t consider any side the “easy” side… I didn’t hear anyone saying that Türkiye lucked out by being on the easy side of the Euros bracket?

@NoCoastRaps American fans have mostly backed the Canadian team, and it's been wonderful to see. American media, however, has been another story. I think I've seen Lalas ("I have to see CANADA do this?!") Dempsey ("it could have been the U.S. doing this but now it's Canada") and Lloyd ("Canada shouldn't be getting out of the group stage"), in particular, not being able to handle it.

I was reading some hispanic guy's comment on one of these videos trying to dismiss our success by saying "Canada is a cold country. They don't deserve success in futbol. It's not fair." 😂 Drink it in buddy. Our progress in the game combined with our humility is causing our opponents to seeth with rage. I love it.

Jesse Marsh would have hammered that point rather than Gregg message to the players was about the referee rather than tactical red cards provocation by Panama.

Dear American friends. It’s hardly fair that Mr. Beerholder should be punished for what Weah did, or for his players being spoiled and over hyped by your fawning media. Or for your European players not even getting enough club minutes to be in shape. Give him a break! He seems to be trying really really hard and is a genuinely nice guy.

Herve Renard is a great French Coach. He won 2 CAN Championships (The Euro of Africa) with 2 different African Men's National Team. He knows African players well and teaches European Soccer ideas very well, plus he relied a lot on the surprise element in those two CAN Cups. I think he's higher mid-range type coach, better than Gregg, that even that is not enough. The US Soccer Program of 2024 has a lot higher profile then lets is that of 1994. You have to play important roles in W.C. 2026, no question about that. As far as the talent, there is more us talent now, but you have to bring the players together like Jesse Marsch did with Canada, then you can do more with a top rank European coach like Pep or whomever. You must have a top rank Coach + a great US Coach assistant. And yet, you can reach the semifinal like Morocco in 2022, or even win it. One this is for sure, you will remain weak under Gregg Berhalter or someone else like him. You have to be both like Bora Milonetovich in the principal and like Bruce Arena of 2002 in the ambition and audacity Gregg and other coaches like him, show too much respect for some opponents which is a negative thing if you're not using it as thing to trick the opponent. If you fear Brazil or Germany for example, just don't show up, it's better. You should respect them but only to the point of preparing hard for them, but defeat them to prove to your self that you're worthy. You can also trick any National team into thinking what works for you, i.e. they're great when you actually don't think so. Do like Bruce who defeated Portugal... Coaches like Gregg don't know in time their limits, and then they get beat 5-1 and after a red card in the next game, that's when you find out he's outclass. Berhalter was outclassed against Columbia and Panama. The good showing vs Uruguay meant nothing as we got Zero points from the game. In the end you must come down to earth after each game to evaluate your chance realistically I don't think Gregg or others like him do that. Jesse Marsch is more like Bruce Arena, where he uses realistic methods to succeed. Gregg is like a Hollywood Movie, sometimes even with the beautiful colors and CGI the movie sucks which is what happened in Copa America. They're trying to paint a Failure with beautiful colors, to sell you the same product to use again in 2026. Guess what? ALL COACHES ARE WATCHING and they can sum up all details in 1 paragraph. With Berhalter the USMNT will be easy to predict and defeat. Gregg had some good ideas, those days are now gone as you can see in the Copa America Results. Grit works, Jesse Marsch is doing the right thing, even if he loses tonight. Don't change your skin, at least not too much, which is what the USSF thinks Gregg can do. Change in 2024 to have a better chance in 2026 ! You have enough time, many of the current USMNT players are great, but you need a coach.

If Jesse was coaching us, i guarantee you we would have beaten Panama, and tied Uruguay. Beyond that, I and most of the FANS would judge the USMNT based on the performance vis a vis the opponent. We would not ask for the impossible. Gregg is way too relaxed, he doesn't represent the most important segment of the FANs who want to the USMNT win and understand Soccer. We will not ask the USMNT Coach, any USMNT Coach ever to perform miracles. But any USMNT Coach no matter his nationality, will have to be as competitive as Jesse if not more. You have to represent the country Well, in all matches. Losing 5-1 in a friendly was bad enough. Losing to Panama is totally UNACCEPTABLE - Period. Though a friendly is one thing, but an official Tournament is something else. There also the factor of playing at home instead of playing abroad. Gregg Berhalter is presenting Excuses for his Failures, and the Players should never be with the coach against the FANS as whole. ALL US FANS want the USMNT to do the best possible an Win against equal lower teams. Playing in the United States is an opportunity for the USMNT to win more US FANs.

Timmy Weah ruined the tournament for the US. It doesn't matter who the coach was, unless you think the coach has any control over Weah's decision to swing at a defender. The route forward from the USMNT here was to beat Bolivia and Panama. No sane person thought USMNT was going to beat Uruguay.
