I feel like there’s a lot of Santana in Naya, and vice versa. Obviously Naya’s not nearly as crude and mean to people as Santana is, but just in the sense that they’re both strong, assertive women with strong feelings and opinions and aren’t afraid to call out bullshit when they see it and speak their mind. It’s understandable that her and Lea’s personalities clashed. I feel like Naya didn’t take Lea’s crap as readily as the rest of them did. There are a lot of parallels between Rachel and Santana’s relationship and Naya and Lea’s.

well, um, I heard somewhere that Ryan Murphy said that he brought things irl into the script so that's not surprising if the actors resemblance so much to their characters. Once Ryan Murphy said that they chose Lea to be Rachel because they're more or less similar to each other in their personality side. The producers clearly also added some of Naya's real personality traits to Santana's on Glee but they made it more crude, sassy and meaner.

People get pissed off when I say santana was one of my favourite characters, but what they don't see is that she ain't my fave for how bitchy she is or how rude she is, she's my favourite because of her bravery! I appreciated that she was choosing her words carefully about Lea in order to be polite, respectful and not come off as back-stabbing (because Lord knows she would have been accused of being two-faced if she told the truth about her stance on Lea), but she had every right to call out Lea for exactly what she is, and at least give any Black actors Lea works with in the future a heads-up for what kind of person they'd be dealing with. That being said, it's not Naya's responsibility to be the canary in the coal mine. I respect her more for acting like a professional in this interview, even if it meant lying by omission.

I know that's your opinion, but that's her face. She has to wear it every day. Young women have huge amounts of pressure on them to look perfect all the time, especially young women in Hollywood, to the point that they may feel they have to have plastic surgery to conform. And yet, when they do, there's always someone telling them they should have turned the clocks back and never done it -- as if that will solve or change anything. If you care about celebrities not having plastic surgery, I really don't think picking apart their appearance, and judging them for whatever procedures they may have had done or whatever inadequacies you think they have, will help at all. Try bringing your grievance to the media machine that put those pressures on young women like Naya Rivera, and not to her.
