Does being totally delusional just come with being a leaf fan? Seriously 😂 you think Woll is a starter?? He's played like 40 NHL games, give your head a shake. It's laughable how leaf fans think. The cap going up is already gone with #88 and #34 new contract. You'll need to fill up all the holes in your roster with the small amount of cap space you'll have.

If you want regular season success and then get knocked out in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs, then sure, extend Mitch Marner and pay him the 11.5 to 12.5 million dollar AAV that he's probably going to get. If you want to get far in the playoffs then you need to take that money and assemble and strong D-core and some depth scoring. Mitch doesn't play like playoff game-breakers like McDavid, Draisatl, Tkachuk or Barkov and he shouldn't be treated like he's in that league. Playoff hockey is different from regular season hockey. If you haven't learned that lesson in 8 years, I don't know what I can possibly say to you because you're on a different level of delusion.

The Leafs have zero playoff runs with Mitch. Marner is a regular season success. If the playoffs don’t matter in Toronto - keep Mitch. 😀

Marner is the worst contract in the league and you want to extend him for 12.5 a year?! Then you have 3 forwards over 11.5M a year and none of them hit or play playoff style hockey 🤯

2/2 Mitch isnt a player you build a team around, but he wants to be treated like one and be paid like one. What did he show this year in the playoffs that makes you think next year WILL be different. Not could be, will be. Mitch pretty much disappears after game 2 of a series.

I’ve said all along you don’t let Marner walk you trade him for a top D,,, the Leafs are too offensive heavy they need a top D ,,, a guy like a Werenski? The problem is that it’s all in his hands this should of been done last off season, but the leafs being the leafs that’s not surprising, Treleving should of given permission but Shanahan dish’s let him ,,, and don’t compare NBA to NHL in the NBA you need 3 dominant players and you’re a serious contender in the NHL that’s not the case at all!

I am exactly aligned with what your saying about Mitch. Unless he accepts a trade and it's one that knocks your socks off you sign him try work in a limited no trade to give yourself wiggle room. JT's contract will be coming off the books at seasons end. Maybe they can sign him to a bargain contract and that's where you get your savings. David Kampf, and other players who are getting paid too much can be moved for cap space. Don't overpay try and find some bargains bring back Domi if it's 3.75m over 4 years. If Bert wants 6 X 6 let him walk bring in someone better for those numbers or younger on a bridge contract like the kid from Boston. Goalie your stuck with the options on the market so look for the best short term fit. Defense you need some toughness and some offense. Not a lot of money to fill all those holes but played smartly could still be done well. Your playing 4 guys big money let them carry the load. If they can't reevaluate next season.

The other big question is given we've had 8 years of the same result ( the core has only won ONE playoff series, so the Celtics comparison makes little sense) What do you EXPECT to be different with Marner next year? 1/2

Took steave Yzerman 14 years to win ov 12 and others Yzerman was talked about same as marner until he got it done plus first 3-4 years they was all kids so I think it the last 3-4 years that they was supposed to do more

They are just know hitting there true prime and the age that players figure it out in the playoffs they can do it they have lots of time compared to what has and does happen to younger teams and players.

Bruno I agree that the Leafs have not been wise in how they spend money on free agents and in their drafting. This is as big an issue as the horrendous contracts.

This core 4 obviously doesn't work. 8 some odd years with one 2nd round appearance? So what if they miss on the marner trade, can it be any worse? They got enough talent to make the playoffs, get rid of the guy and move onto a different gameplan already.

Honestly guys, Auston Mathhews is here to make money and I don’t think he is here to win a cup. He’s a great player and franchise player don’t get me wrong. He’s a fraud and he’s a regular season player only and doesn’t do anything in the playoffs. What are your thoughts and opinion on what I just said? And yes I am a leafs fan

@user-sn8sw2vi8z No I wouldn't. And yes you can, lots of players walk every year. The Panthers might let Reinhart, Ekman-Larsson & Montour walk. Having a competent front office makes this a non-issue for well run franchises

If you trade Marner you would need to get market value back so what teams out there have the market value that can pay the price so if im Toronto I am looking for a top 5 winger and a this years top 10 draft pick you need to at least get back a player that can net you at least over half of Marners points otherwise its no scense to make a trade and then even if a trade like that is possible Marner has to wave his NTC he has just made almost 70 million dollars over the last 6 years so why should he care about his reputation be damaged he has made enough money to never have to work again EVER!!!! and he is not even 30 years old so even if he is hated I could live being filthy rich and hated just give me that chance

Why not take Mitchy’s money and turn it into Tanev and Pesce, and you still have lots of money to augment the offence with Berube type of players that might not be as flash and dash but they get it done when it matters. In the playoffs 🤷🏻‍♂️
