I'm Dutch and have seen a lot documentaries about Dutch criminals who spend 20 or 30 or more years behind bars. Without exception they all say that crime doesn't pay. In the end you've wasted 30 years of your life penniless.

Strangely, I even have a certain respect for the major players in crime, those that are the brains behind some of the big events, the Great Train Robbery, the attempt to steal the millennium diamond etc.. unfortunately for them they have to depend on a bunch of mostly brainless half-wits to get the job done, inevitably that leads to disaster... but what I loathe more than any are the petty criminals who rob ordinary people trying simply to get through life, doing no harm..house-breakers, car thieves, muggers and the Pat Tates of this world. These are the trash of criminals.. a three-time loser system would work well for these wasters.
