In December of 2012 Panathinaikos and Malaga had the first NBA like trade in the history of Euroleague. Panathinaikos brought in OAKA(for 6 straight seasons) James Gist and Malaga received the former Liga Endesa MVP, Andy Panko. Jasmin Repessa wanted a better 3pt shoter on PF and Pedoulakis wanted a physical and better defender player in this position. The hidden secret was that Panko was high in Repesa’s list during the summer and also Gist in Pedoulakis’ list. Also, both of them had similar salary. So, it seemed that Unicaja and Panathinaikos were on a win-win situation for both of them. Everyone then thought that this will be the start of more NBA pattern trades in euroleague but i think we never saw anything like this until now

About Eli Okobo, apparently the game vs Panathanaikos in round 15 was a blast especially the end of game. He could digest that failure and ever since he is upset

You can make jokes about Kahudi, but this guy is 37 years old and is often the most athletic guy on the court
@AugustasSuliauskas8 ай бұрын
We weren't trying to underplay Kahudi's importance (there's a reason he's still playing heavy minutes on the team, because he does every little thing right). Simply commenting about Parker's comment wanting to play younger guys more when there are not that many young guys in ASVEL and the really promising ones he had left for other teams.
@simonhollis52568 ай бұрын
Tony Parker lacks managerial acumen. That's why he installed his incompetent brother as coach and kept him while he drove them to the ground. ASVEL isn't a Euroleague level team.

One key aspect you're not considering is that Larkin might just bolt this summer if things keep going this way - he's not even considered a Turkish player anymore. Even with the slew of injuries that we have suffered, having a top-5 player playing at MVP-level and still being the third worst team in the EL by point differential just doesn't cut it, I'm sorry. If you're a coach actually worth your salt, you don't have the worst defense in the league by a mile and an offense that only works in spurts in spite of Larkin's best efforts. I don't want any coach losing his job either, but since he took the reins he hasn't really proven anything and I'm afraid that the team won't turn things around unless a major shake-up takes place. The clock is ticking.

I don't understand, even now, teams can trade players, or even not trade, but terminate agreements and sell players in the middle of the season. Of course, if player agree, because braking agreement without player's concent is actually very expensive venture... I don't understand why Euroleauge needs "trade regulations", unless they have some restriction on players changing teams durring the season... Player agreement with some club is practically their "private" job employment agreement, I don't think there is 2 same in whole Europe, and all viiolations, changes or termination of any condition in their agreement is legaly case for court. P. S. I hope Euroleague don't fancy that they implement NBA standards, with draft, sallary cap and trade rules, beecause that would be the end of Euroleague.

Efes MUST continue with Erdem Can the guy is a very good and has a very high potential. The team goes through a rough period at the moment. It is just it. The comment about the injuries are all right. Efes is not a team that make hasty decisions.

@TheOlguna8 ай бұрын
@@ilhansy IMO Erdem Can is much better coach than Itoudis and he deserved that seat. Has much more passion for the game. I would be in for the change if i was was talking as a Fener fan. Efes is the team that made Turkish people love basketball in 90's and i love Efes as much as Fener.
@frankiwals8 ай бұрын
@@TheOlguna what has Erdem Can proven to say that he's better than Itoudis, a two-time EL champion? Meanwhile, we are throwing another season to the trash with Larkin playing at an MVP-level (and his contract expiring this summer). I don't dislike Can, but I think unless major changes take place, this team will just disintegrate and slide back into the utmost irrelevance.

About Fener Saras took the team, in a very good schedule, IMO Itoudis may have win the same matches. And Fener made the change before the game that they expect the good run begins. There were no rumours about Itoudis but they saw the opportunity and made the move, now Saras also benefits from this decesion. I am agreeing the thoughts about Saras he changed the atmosphere and implemented a winning mentality and created a solid winning team, Itoudis couldn't do it. I am just trying to say that the schedule ALSO helped a lot.

nah itoudis only performs when he has a big budget and a lobby to back him up. he fucked last years seasons second half also the red star match with 30 points loss...
@AugustasSuliauskas8 ай бұрын
Good point. Teams usually make coaching switches exactly before a game the management thinks they can win. This way, it's already a positive boost with a new coach, plus you win and you might change your season around as simply as that.

You guys are way too much emersed into the thing, need some different perspective and don't see obvious angles. How long you gonna compare coach to wife? He is just an employee, not someone you give eternal vows. If he is bad employee, you say he is not up to the standard.

Pozzecco is a joke not a coach. Parker is right.
@AugustasSuliauskas8 ай бұрын
Not questioning Pozzecco as a coach right now. Parker himself chose to hire him in the first place as a replacement. By trashing himself in public, you basically trash your own decisions/scouting he made not even 2 months ago.

"Why Tony Parker is wrong" isn't very engaging, it would have been interesting to have a debate, some pros and cons, rather than a rant...
