Not mentioning the 1992 title of Partizan is honestly pure insanity. It was the first title in the new format, the team was BY FAR the youngest, it was Zeljkos FIRST season as a coach, and most importantly, they played most of the season in SPAIN, due to the conflicts of the Balkans. A bunch of children playing in a country on the other side of europe, winning euroleague, not getting a mention is so so sooooo poor of you. Partizan de Fuenlabrada para siempre!

People way too easily forget that Italy is the contry that has won the most Euroleagues along with Spain. Back in the 80s the Euroleague was pretty much an Italian deal with Milano, Bologna, Cantu and Varese scrambling for it

CSKA being a club founded by the army - "grrrr Big Bad >:( " Real Madrid being the lapdog of a openly fascist regime - "Real Madrid being real madrid" Not to mention that CSKA's football section wasnt even that good at that time compared to other clubs/societies like Dynamo, Spartak etc, kinda voiding any interference and bias narrative. Other than that a pretty good summary, i dont think there were many videos on this, if any.

Unless they get to the level of NBA, who is a closed league itself, Euroleague has no other choice. The most powerful organisation of each sport dictates the pace for rest.

@WERTYUIO821 22 күн бұрын
@@rmkb627 Champions League is the most powerful entity in football, if it becomes a closed league, everything else follows. In Basketball the most powerful entity is NBA, which is a closed League. The only way for Euroleague to start competing while an open league would be if NBA became an open League or if Euroleague becomes the most powerful entity in Basketball. Both as unlikely as two honest politicians entering the same restaurant by chance.
@apopet
@apopet 21 күн бұрын
@@WERTYUIO821 "The most powerful organisation of each sport dictates the pace for rest". I don't know where you got that from, it does not make that much sense to me as it does to you, obviously. If that were the case, and Euroleague had no choice, they would have adopted other properties of the NBA as well, like the draft system, the abolishment of domestic leagues, etc. The differences between the leagues are so many, I lost count. Is it just the closed league system that is important and was thus copied? I think you're confusing the result with the cause, somewhat. Some specific teams were unhappy with how much money they got, so they created this league to provide a standard income, nothing to do with copying or competing with the NBA. All the other teams are just unlucky, that this became a standard.

"... No more controlled by FIBA..." , but instead controlled by Barcelona and occasionally Real... The true problem with this Catalonian EL is neglecting of the European fan culture... If you're a champion, or maybe top3 team, you're going to play with other champions in best continental tournament. Not here; if you have A licence, you can finish 7th in your national league and still play Euroleague (Unicaja Malaga, looking into your direction). And why this league exists, with such rules and regulations? So that Barcelona have guaranteed participation in the league...

Back in days, right after WW2, FIBA Asia and FIBA Africa didn't exist. So every Mediterranean county from Asia/Africa was allowed to compete in Europe, for the sake of popularization and development of basketball. So both clubs and NT's competed in Europe. For example, Egypt NT won the Eurobasket in 1949 ... they hosted the tournament, of course.
