I always this headcanon that V gets so prominent as a merc because overtime we as players get the best chrome and that only happens because he can withstand cyber psychosis much more than your average person. That combined with Jackie’s death really motivated him to make big moves and be able to handle them
@MrToubroukАй бұрын
I have my theory that the relic helped V by negating the risk of cyberpsychosis. After all, V's brain is constantly healed and updated by the relic. There is no possibility to turn into a murderous nut job.
@nate-hl9sqАй бұрын
to be fair V died and that's what activates the Relic, so the problems of a regular dude no longer applies. It's not cyberpsychosis since its two minds now handling the cyberware, I think CDPR planned the story that way so it makes sense on why us as a player can chrome out like most people do.
@BoobaPogАй бұрын
If you read the shards during the Cyber Psychosis missions, it's clear that V's resistance to going mad has nothing to do with his affinity with Cyberware. V probably has a similar level of Cyberware affinity as David. But what makes V basically immune is his mental stability. There's no doubt that Silverhand was V's anchor to reality and humanity. It's because of this that he was able to stay sane after the events during the prologue, and never started drifting away over the edge.
@johncabrera9745Ай бұрын
I always thought that V’s tolerance to getting more implants was only possible because you know the bio chip in his head is destroying and rebuilding his brain with Nites making it a combination of machine and flesh because the issue with cyberpsychosis is the meat brain not able to handle it and I’m not counting Adam smasher or David Martinez as we saw David definitely has more tolerance but slowly, but surely cannot handle it and for Adam smasher think the reason why he’s able to stand it as she goes he’s just a bona fide psycho who loves killing essentially embracing the mental hurdles

Objectively speaking yes. The original arasaka heist you and jackie successfully break into the biggest mega corp in the world undetected, steal the relic that's being promoted all over tv , kill saburo arasaka(atleast as far as the general public knows) and then successfully escape while killing dozens of arasaka agents. This one mission by it's self would make v a night city legend. As for v's lack of urgency I think that still gets fixed because if v doesn't have the relic that means Jackie gets brought back to life. Jack and v are sworn family by the time of that mission so there's no way you can convince me that they don't go on gigs together for a cure
@kangroooАй бұрын

@@kangrooo that's a fan theory and one that doesn't make a lot sense at that. That's why alt can't fix you at the end of the game your body thinks you're a disease and Johnny is the host, it's like white blood cells fighting an infection. 3 The main source of evidence people have for it not working on Jackie is that Jackie died in the car but what people fail to notice is that Jackie removed it BEFORE he died which is why it ultimately didn't work

Just to comment on the konpeki plaza mission supposedly making him a legend, Rogue confirms that in the eyes of everyone else the mission was a complete failure. The fixer and the crew nearly all dead and the death of saburo painting a big ass target on V's back. It's also why V doesn't work with other mercs for most of the games, they don't wanna work with someone of such a disastrous portfolio.
@dishantithomas4198Ай бұрын
@@mystiqueuser4919 yeah nah that's just cdpr poorly trying to retroactively explain why v doesn't reestablish a crew. the big target part makes sense but being viewed as a failure is objectively false from a common sense perspective, a lore perspective and from what you actually see in world. The common sense perspective is in my original comment but from a lore perspective dying/going out in a blaze of glory is quite literally the main way of becoming a night city legend. Morgan black hand is the biggest night city legend not named smasher or v and they don't even have a drink at the afterlife because no one knows if they're dead or not. There's no way v and that crew would be labeled failures because they died however, people being scared of retaliation against vain does make sense. However, having a Target doesn't make you not a legend. Every legend is a Target. You can't throw a pebble down a random street in night City and not find someone who doesn't want to kill Adam smasher. And as for the how the game works perspective All the fixers in the game still give you the best gigs in your district. Mummar, hands and ragina literally trust you with their dream/life work. Dakota and wakako not only give you big time gigs they also put not only their own lives but the lives of their family on the line by helping you. There's just no way they put their reputation and lives on the line or some Merc deemed a failure.
@mystiqueuser4919Ай бұрын
@@dishantithomas4198 A blaze of glory like Johnny charging Smasher head on, sure that'd be legendary. What happened to the V's crew could be summarized as exposed rats scattering and being hunted down to the last one, the only one having a death worthy of respect in the eyes of everyone else being Jackie who fought to save the mission to his death. The first missions you get from almost every fixer are extremely small and downright incomparable to the missions you get at the end of the game when you are just about at legendary status. As rogue put it, "smash and grabs" are what you get from the first fixer missions, missions that don't require the utmost trust and faith that fixers have in the crews for their longer missions. You can even look at the first version of cyberpunk where each district had its own difficulty level as part of the story, where by the time you go to the lower areas of the map, which were on the harder difficulty at the time, you were supposed to have rebuilt up both your strength as well as your reputation as a trustworthy merc, and if you didn't and tried to do these missions above you, you'd get flatlined quickly. Shiiii the easiest way to tell V was nowhere near a legend at the start is in the small interactions like the robbery of a bar, or the hot dog stand dude being mugged for his bike. If you're low level starting the rest of the map fresh, others will comment that you came back from the dead but will still attack you. Only when you're higher level do they actually fear and run from you

V is sorta an anomaly in the cyberpunk world. If you think of cyberpunk like it’s og role playing board game then V is YOUR character. I think V could have become a legend, but they never would’ve been as big as they are when they had the relic. Johnny is a major reason why they took the big risks they did, and not just because he was slowly killing V. They allude to it a few times throughout the game, but you can most clearly see it during the side gigs Tapeworm and Chippin’ In. At the end of tapeworm Rogue mentions that V has the same angry smirk on their face that Johnny had. And in Chippin’ In when you pick up Johnny’s Malorian V holds it exactly the same way Johnny does in the flashbacks where you play as him. It’s especially noticeable when you switch from the Malorian to an another pistol and back. V holds every other gun the same EXCEPT for Johnny’s Malorian. The bottom line is that V may have been a legend on their own, but with the influence of ANOTHER night city legend they were guaranteed to be one.

I don't think it's accurate to say that V won't be taking risky plays as much if he didn't have the Relic killing him. The whole reason we got into that was because of the big risk he took for that heist gone wrong in the first place. His motivation might have included his life when he got the Relic, but he's always been ready to risk it all for a legendary status. I think he might not have the same quick rise as he did but he'd definitely still be legendary in time.
@Tinnitus1445Ай бұрын
He might not ever become the type of legend that he does with the relic just because who V is…is a living tall tale. He does things that are inhuman and seemingly impossible one after another. All the way up to giving Arasaka one hell of an oozing wound right after killing Adam Smasher. I think had he progressed naturally he’d still be a “legend” eventually but it would be on par with other exceptionally capable mercenaries and not a legend in the more biblical sense that he get to see him become.

If V never had the relic, V would have never been a legend, because in looking at the cannon events that had to happen V relied heavy on other legends. So though V probably would formidable enough to take out a 1 off group of Tiger Claws or 1 (semi boss like Animal chick with the Hammer), V would kind of just been overshadowed by other legends of night city. V likely would've been a bigger legend actually. With more evidence/lore slowly appearing that supports the idea that Johnny's engram was actually modified by Arasaka or flawed (as some of Johnny's 'memories' now being proven fake), serving to show that the chip likely was actually what kinda seals V's fate. Especially if you get fooled into the "good" endings where you do stuff like letting Johnny overtake V's body (which totally tracks as being a Mike Pondsmith tier plot twist of making the happier appearing endings be the ones where you got suckered into losing). *Warning: Massive ADHD hyper-focused tangent below. Like the most blatant lie you see in Johnny's memory is how Alt dies. In Johnny's memory she was apparently killed by Soulkiller. But if you remember earlier when you save Evelyn Parker, Judy LITERALLY says not to pull the headjack from what she is plugged into as it could render her braindead if not disconnected properly. Well, in Johnny's memory he just yanked out the cord from her head and she was dead moments later. Alt even straight up states during the Blackwall cutscene that Johnny's memories are wrong and warped by how he believes events took place. Meanwhile there was a canon short story written years ago that actually covered the death of Alt, and yeah she died the same way in the story, with it being from her perspective in the digital world and being basically killed by Johnny yanking out the connection before she could transfer into her own body. Other inconsistencies include Johnny only planting 1 bomb in the elevator, yet later stating in a conversation that he went into the tower with 2 (which canonically there were 2). Him remembering having fought Adam Smasher as his arch-nemesis (Adam Smasher actually acts confused in the final battle if you say it's revenge for Johnny. He was also the rival of Morgan Blackhand who actually canonically fought Smasher atop Arasaka Tower during the bombing of the tower). Mike Pondsmith has confirmed that Johnny Silverhand was a cyberpsycho. Finally, it is brought up many times in the game and through gameplay, that memories such as braindances can be edited. So generally the emerging theory is that (again with the canon novels that tie in, and Mike Pondsmith answering some questions), when Militech sponsored the attack on Arasaka Tower by sending 2 teams (1 with Johnny Silverhand, 1 with Morgan Blackhand), the plan was only to destroy the tower. Something went wrong, and the second nuke detonated and basically irradiated a good chunk of Night City. This event was so catastrophic that it would have not only started another Corporate War, but would've likely ruined Militech's reputation worldwide especially for nuking a independent city-state. So Arasaka having Johnny caught by Adam Smasher, burned his memories into an engram and then purposefully edited those memories to make it seem like it was all his idea/plan and that he was a longtime enemy of Arasaka (meanwhile canonically, Arasaka barely even realized Johnny existed). This served as their scapegoat to avoid another corporate war, and as a kind of failsafe they could possibly trade to Militech in the future or claim was evidence to blackmail them. I dunno, corporate BS in the background. But essentially, Johnny in the game is not actually Johnny Silverhand. From the onset, we as V are basically tricked into believing that this A.I. cobbled together partially from Johnny Silverhand is the real deal. It's so convincing infact, that people get tricked into thinking that the blaze of glory endings of raiding Arasaka are the "good" endings. Meanwhile if you think about it, Arasaka barely even knew V existed. Like think about it. Beyond the initial attempt to kill V to silence the truth about Saboro being murdered, they never actually care that V is still alive and kicking. V literally isn't on their radar. What's even more ironic is that if you save Hanako and side with Arasaka, they 100% keep their word to remove the chip and provide V with advanced medical care to try and save them. Which in a way reinforces the bleak Cyberpunk theme that dying in a blaze of glory is misguided and doesn't make any meaningful change. While even the corporations aren't even inherently evil, they're just doing business. So in the end, you helping Hanako save Arasaka from her brother is just a business deal, and they uphold their end of the bargain to save V's life. It's bleak, it's dark, but still the Arasaka ending his hilariously the most "good" ending for V (at least excluding the DLC which I still gotta get around to finishing).

I would say yes because of the heist itself, but... the heist itself didnt make Jackie a legend, so it wouldnt make one of V either. And in the game you need to earn the street creds to become known

This could be a bit long and sorry about that. With respect I disagree with you. Taking away the fact that V is the main character. I would still say yes because up to the point of Dex kills you. V is still the same character that Dex ask the question to whe V is in Dex car. Would it have taken a little more time maybe, but V is still the same character before, and after V death. As for tome in the game, we'll it a Illusion at best. Sure there little reminders that your on a time table, but it doesn't become a issue until you see Hanako. Witch leads to some other interesting thoughs, but that's a different rant fir a different time. Lol

V would be dead without the relic. So no, V wouldn’t have become a legend.
@gwop827Ай бұрын
We r assuming Dex did not kill him. Touch grass man
@jeebuskroost3852Ай бұрын
Legend yes, same level of legend no. Essentially if the heist went well and v wasnt caught up in arasaka politics, then v would be hailed as a master thief and still have a choice of jobs but whether theyd have the same drive is unclear.
@xander22777Ай бұрын
Yeah because that means Jackie would have came back to life cuz he would have had the relic slotted and we've seen the things v will do for friends. If you do not think he is going to be doing 10 times as much 10 times as quick to try to get a cure for Jackie then I think you're a little crazy

HE LITERALLY ROBBED ARASAKA IF HE JUST SHOWED UP SOONER OR A DAY LATER THEY WOULDVE MADE IT OUT THEY WOULDVE HAD MORE ADVENTURES

Hang on work with me jackie gets the shard dies revives in the car on the way to dex des shoots you but jackie covers u badly wounding u both but u survive jakcie has johnny but is severely crippled you as jackies friend desperately try saving his life goes on to be a legend as jackie loses himself further and depending which ending u do he can kive die or become Johnny
@mathiasjensen13Ай бұрын
Well v would be dead if no relic
@Drsoppo28 күн бұрын
i say yes but no they will die after do the the chip saving them from dying i say V is dead but a ghost in there own body and soul killer is trying to kick them out for johnny to take over
@Echo_Yt0Ай бұрын
I mean i guess it would come down to if people think that jackie is a legend 😅 cause they both would have died had it not been for the chip tho V would have died to the hands of a greedy fixer instead
@jeremyk3493Ай бұрын
V would have faded to nothing since they would have died from Dexter Deshawn shooting them in the head.
@alexiovelasco322221 күн бұрын
He would've just died cuz the chip revived him.

Yeah, Jhonny acts as a mental buffer, plus Jackie's death helps him resist cyberpsykosis

he?

Isn’t canonical v female?
@HumanBrain-of1vgАй бұрын
Probably not, V doesn't go cyberpsycho because of the relic. Part of the mental load from the amount of cyberware V ends up chipping is managed by Johnny. Without it, V would probably slip into Cyber Psychosis before he could do the things he did.

I think V would have eventually made it regardless. Relic or no relic, they had the drive and ambition to make themselves a legend, and they weren't exactly a nobody by the time the Arasaka job rolled around; by the start of the game, they have ties to Wakako and Padre, and enough clout that Dex knows who they are and thinks they can actually get the relic. A big league fixer coming to them for a big league job was a matter of when, not if.
