Yes, I would carry that, over socks any day of the week! I did get a Mossberg Shockwave for Christmas back when they came out from a group of nurses that I was renovating an office space for. It brought me to tears I was so surprised! Best Christmas gift ever from a bunch of ladies that appreciated my hard work. I'll never forget them, or that job. They did not close operations while I was working, so I had to be very under the radar, which I am good at. :) Nobody has ever given a gun to me before. That was special.

Shooting a modern 38 special, why not, if it's all you have or just like it. I have an 1872 Richards Mason 38 conversion and it has an ejector on it. Wondering if yours has a .357 bore to match ammo. I haven't put a conversion in my .36 cal black powders due to the .375 bore being to big (except if you shoot .38 hollow base boolits.

My first gun was a pietta 1860 snub nose with a taylor and co conversion and i always regretted not getting the kurst gated cylinder but honestly as long as you can pop the wedge out by hand the amount of time it takes to eject is considerably shorter and the whole reloading proccess ends up being faster. Also worth mentioning that the taylor and co cylinder has locking grooves in between the rounds on the cylinder itself so carry safety wise it is by far the best safety system. Though its a 5 round cylinder so it kinda evens out the advantage of carrying on an empty chamber. Im not sure if the 6 round kurst has this feature. As long as the cylinder ships separately this is a legitimate loophole in gun legislation as you can get a cartridge gun without even an id check.

It can still poke as big of a hole in someone now as it did in 1860, cartridge conversion or not, so yes, I'd carry that. It would just need a different hammer profile to avoid it snagging on the holster or clothing, but other than that, works just fine.

That was the Thuer conversion. It actually worked fairly well.

I did hear that the only thing that saved colt was that they didn't manage to develop cartridge guns enough to use more powerful cartridges until the patent was almost run out

The "Old West" finish, as Uberti calls it. Very striking and different; more like a worn finish on a well-worn revolver only hastened through modern techniques. I have this finish on a 1873 Colt Single-action "Cattleman" by Uberti. One of my favorite SA revolvers. The one showcased here is no longer made by Uberti and very hard to find.

I love these conversion repro's. I think it was Cimarron that made a Civil war conversion replica twenty odd years ago in .44 special. I would have to sort through my magazines to find it. Damn I wanted one. ( Canadian ) It wasn't illegal at the time, just expensive to source and import.

Just get the Taylor and co conversion, you have to take the barrel off and remove the cylinder but as long as you can pop the wedge out without tools you can eject spent rounds much faster than with a gate and the whole process of reloading ends up being shorter.

@machfiver75317 күн бұрын
As long as the bullet has enough barrel to get it to spin properly barrel length has nothing to do with accuracy. Barrel length affects muzzle velocity. The short barrel would have allowed Bill to draw and shoot way faster than a long barrel would have allowed him to do. So for his act the shorter barrel would have given him an edge

I have the same gun but with a 5.5' barrel in 45 Colt. Shoots great but my gripe with it is that it´s substantially bigget as a 1860 army They made the cilinder bigger to chamber it in 45 Colt and even then it has thick chamber walls. An 186o can´t chamber 45 Colt, cilinder is too small. They should make a replica in 44 Colt but then almost nobody would buy it
