I went to the Armitsar temple when i was 19 years old. I was walking by myself, and was the only foreign person there. It was an incredible experience, and I remember seeing the murals of the guy carrying around his own chopped off head! Love your channel. I am not able to be an ex-pat anymore, so I appreciate your travels.

Oh that’s dope! I’m glad you enjoyed it! That mural would be of Baba Deep Singh. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baba_Deep_Singh I’m not sure if the link would work but you can definitely read about him if you would so wish :)

remember going to a Church, I was the only foreign person there, and inside a figure nailed onto two pieces of wood, in the shape of the letter 't', a wreath around the head. And these words: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

That Mural is of Baba Deep Singh - A great Sikh warrior who had taken the oath to avenge the desecration of the temple by Muslim warriors. During the battle his head was cut-off but he held it in his hand and won the battle, bowing and breathing his last at the Golden temple... Amazing ...

What the guy says around 21:44 is the concept of Seva. It means selfless service. The guys working in the place where they store shoes are mostly volunteers and so are most of the people that serve food in the langar hall of the temple....And all Sikh temples for that matter.

If you want to say thankyou in India, Pakistan, or Bangladesh you can just say Shukriya or Meherbani and they all will understand. Sat Sri Akal is used in Indian side Punjab, mostly among all Sikh communities. It is like saying Namaste to Hindus or As-salamu-alaykum to Muslims. You can also say Kya Hal Hai? meaning how are you? In all three countries most of the people will understand this.😊

@Only Indian It is dhanyavad not dhanyabad. This word is mostly used in India but not in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
@MI-lv3uz2 жыл бұрын
@Only Indian right, but for foreigners who don't speak any desi language and are willing to travel to these countries, for them Shukriya is enough. They don't care about languages all they want to see and experience is different culture, vibes and meet different people. It is not so important for them to emphasize the languages, otherwise people wouldn't be travelling to unknown places.
@MI-lv3uz2 жыл бұрын
@Only Indian Shukriya is not a Persian word it is a Urdu word which came from Shukran in Arabic. Dhanyavad comes from Sanskrit word dhanyavaada and very few people are able to tackle with Sanskrit in India. But l hope Amir remembers all these different words changing from state to state while he is travelling in India. I'm afraid he might get confuse.😁
@MI-lv3uz2 жыл бұрын
@Only Indian Yes it's true, most of the people in India neither speak proper Urdu nor Hindi. They always mix these two languages. Only the old news anchors from 70s-90s knew how to speak proper Hindi.Today's news media only knows how to scream, yell and exaggerate. Today pure hindi is only spoken by hindi literature experts. 🙁

Dude this is the worst time to be in the plains of North India. Its so bloody humid. At this time you should either visit the Northern Hills stations like Manali, Kashmir etc. or travel south west towards Mumbai, Kerala, Bangalore etc. You can also visit North Eastern states like Shillong, Gangtok, if your Visa permits. Those are the best locations till the winters set in. Enjoi your time mate and be careful of pickpockets. Ciao

He just uttered the word flippantly to himself which a lot of British do. It wasn’t intended to be disrespectful. If we take his trip in it’s entirety he was respectful to people and the country for the most part so I think it is important to keep context brother that’s all.
