Little trick I have my crews do I learned years back in the union. When gluing panels push the panel tight then pull away as to allow the glue to string then push it back up. Get a little air on there and better I think . And there's your dinner

Randy Carreiro - that’s a great tip. We did that experiment with contact cement and the adhesion is almost 6x stronger. (Measuring the pulling force it takes to separate the materials). Besides the final cured strength, the immediate adhesion is more than double.

I’m not trying to be a smart ass by any means, but wouldn’t it be so much easier to prime and paint everything in full lengths & sheets before hand (before you make your first cut) then measure, cut & install and just touch up the paint when done… It would save so much time in masking & prepping for paint on site... Do you ever get pushback from customers on jobs like this about your method to complete what they want? As in, I could see a customer questioning your decision to leave the base molding on out of fear that it won’t match, or line up properly, or look like it was two different installs, etc. Or, do you not even get into details like that and just do it? I could see it could coming up when going over a quote because there’s a notable difference in required materials and labor - you’re essentially cutting corners (lol) but in a totally legit and understandable way. Even though you’re obviously gonna make it look dope (and I agree with the call), I can hear the whines of “no no I want it done like *this*” in my ears.

I agree with Joey Dafish. Make sure to get the kit which comes with a storage bag. They have several lengths available. Short for cabinet installs (microwaves, etc.) and longer for standard ceilings. Compared to Zipwall brand, the Fastcap have detent pins that will get the pole length closer to your needed height and a squeeze handle to extend the rod the rest of the way and hold pressure where needed. We had a remediation company at our house and they used the ZipWall brand and the damn poles kept falling over as the twist lock mechanism was worn out and wouldn't keep pressure against the ceiling to hold the plastic tight. They were falling all over the living room and onto the tv. Very aggravating. Anyhow, I use the Third Hands and plastic to build on site paint booths, dust barriers (drywall sanding), etc. I do however like the ZipWall brand zippers. They have adhesive that you attach to the plastic and make it so you can gain entry to the protected area and then seal it back as needed.

In my mind, I thought, wouldn't it be better to use staples instead of brads, when the narrator pointed out that he uses staples instead of brads to avoid the brads shooting through the hard board. Talk about coincidence.

great work but you should team up with a painter man ..installing raw wood isnt really adequate. due to the fact that you won't be able to prime the cracks. that leads to cracking caulk in years time.. maybe just buy primed wood and give it a light sanding then install.. just a better overall product for the customer.

Another great video, thanks! Can you give a ballpark estimate of what you charge for these jobs? Obviously there are differences like brand/quality of paint, # of coats, cost of materials used, etc. But knowing if this is a $1,000ish job, or a $5,000ish, or a $10,000ish job would be great to know.
