SHARK DIVERS are people who study, photograph, interact with and even wrestle with some of the most terrifying creatures on earth. A select group of skilled professionals routinely work with, or near the animals out in the wild and in aquariums. This feature-length documentary focuses on this diverse and eclectic group - each with different motives in their unusual fields. Some are adrenaline junkies and many are staunch conservationists. Together, they form a community of people fascinated by sharks. Their enthusiasm (and fear) can be highly contagious! Learn all about the shark divers and the diverse group of graceful and powerful creatures they study - the tiger, lemon, mako, whale and the legendary great white sharks. Shark Divers gets up close and personal with the sharks and divers to share their passion and debunk the myth of the cold-blooded, man-eating shark.

I watched another shark program where they claim that shark bites and attacks are on the rise. I initially did not agree, thinking that per capita there are more and more people using the ocean for recreation, so it seems as if there are more attacks. However, in watching this film, I cannot help but wonder if we humans are in fact altering the behavior of the sharks themselves. Sharks becoming more used to being teased with food by people in boats! When others with boats are around, there is no food, I wonder if this ticks them off. It reminds me of the bear problem in some State Parks--once bears get used to humans feeding them, then they have this expectation that every human encounter is going to give them treats! What has happened is bear attacks on humans which can be extremely savage in nature. Now I think it is not too extreme to think this can happen with sharks as well! Perhaps people ought to rethink what they are doing!

Absolutely right! Some shark attacks are being caused by people interfering in the sharks environment. These are revenge attacks, a cross. Between terriitorial and boats that associate people with food to sharks.

These sharks have "learned" to come to the boat for food. This is NOT natural. Teasing the tigers with hanging fish heads and crates filled with bait....he's just doing in for the adrenaline rush, not to peacefully watch the sharks in THEIR habitat. Or for conservation of the sharks....it's just thrill seeking. Not natural at all. The sharks are enticed by bait.

Actually, sometimes yes. Our actions affect how we survive and what happens around us. If you bait the water, wear yellow, or red, or something sparkly, or go in at dark, or dawn, or dusk, you are at a higher risk of being bitten by something in the water like a shark or barracuda. If you improperly store your food while camping or don’t bring a weapon, you are at a higher risk of being attacked by something in the woods like a bear, fox, etc. And if you walk in a brush covered area where you know snakes live, you are at a higher risk of being bitten by a snake. It’s kind of obvious I thought? It’s not bc they want to attack us and hurt us most of the time, it’s because they feel threatened or excited.

I believe sharks are the most stigmatized and misunderstood animals in the world. I've given up swimming in the ocean, but I respect these animals. I don't think shark diving goes too far in anything, and at least they see live sharks in the wild and not the sad sight of sharks in nets or with their fins cut off. They help others see the beauty in the beasts. I even empathize with sharks for being cool yet suffering inside as my life is full of people not seeing the real me. Maybe, just maybe, the shark's electroreception can sense the electricity that allows our thoughts to be formed and maybe they can understand our thinking better than we do theirs.

So, this is how you get sharks to become way too curious about people. Bait them in, feed them and eventually, someone will get bitten from a shark that no longer fears people and has got abit too curious. At least they're not hand feeding them

When you choose to enter their element you agree to join the food chain and if an animal is hungry and has an opportunity it's going to take it. The Great White attack in Sydney in February 2022 was tragic but that shark chose to consume that man when he saw the opportunity and it did not hesitate. Yes you can increase your odds but the bottom line is it's their ocean.

There are 2 type of scuba divers relating to sharks! Type one promotes humans as a possible food source by chumming waters. Over the years the sharks will be relating food to humans. It got so bad some countries they closed shark feeding money grabbing enterprises. These egotistic divers who like chumming encounters are there only for the rush and bragging rights! This macho diving also promotes the sale of shark fin soup indirectly! Type 2 divers only encounter sharks by chance in the natural way. To see them swim by is very moving. You may not see sharks on every dive but that builds the moment it happens seem much more profound. The reefs and all the fish life have a better chance to survive if we just observe from a respectful distance!

For swimmers and sun-bathers, there’s really not that much one needs to know about sharks in regards to safety precautions. One, the color yellow sets them off (reason why the Navy calls it yum-yum yellow); two, dusk and dawn are very active feeding times; three, you’re less likely to be attacked if you stay in a group.

i m pretty sure that swimming among sharks like erich ritter is much safer than walking in some streets in LA or NY suburbs late at night... man is a wolf for man, very famous saying. no, definitely total respect for ritter and his will of survival. i would not be as courageous (some would say crazy, most probably.) as him. however am definitely fascinated by those animals who are a fantastic model of evolution over MILLIONS of years. millions of years : we, humans are very tiny little things... keep being humble towards nature. it has EVERY right. it is unconscious and has NO compromise (whether you like it or not). the only way is to accept it : 80% survival and 20% reproduction, period. preserving nature is not to save nature, it is about saving human kind. destroying it is to condemn us to an inevitable extinction. nature NEVER needed and will NEVER need humans to be. the nature will flourish again and again, and again ... with or without us.

However by far the most horrendous injuries are from great white sharks, most die from blood loss. You only need to see one time the aftermath of a great white attack , for me it was crystal clear stay out of the ocean water monsters live there.DURING world war ll battle ships that were sinking and they needed to abandon ship the few survivors said that the only reason they lived was because the great whites were already full from feeding on the others. I can not think of anything worse in this world than to be eaten alive by an animal like a shark.

The Title says it all. "Studying one of the most dangerous creatures in the Ocean." "SHARK DIVERS" It´s definetly not the "Sharks"! A documentary only about Adrenalinerush and not the creatures themselves. at least the first 30 minutes. And if something happens, the sharks will be blamed as usual in the world press! Simply disgusting, but i know its only my opinion. the last hour is more acceptable.

I just watched a show today where they were baiting sharks down in the Gulf of Mexico. A G.W. came thru the side of the cage, they opened the top of the cage and the shark struggled fighting to get it @ tho bleeding from its gills it came out the top of the cage @ back into the ocean. A couple of min later a very shaken and traumatized diver crawled out the top also. When the shark came thru the cage wall, he went out under it's belt as it fought free, then he came back inside the cage and put the top onto the boat. No, it's wrong to year and taunt any animal with food, sharks included. That man could have died horribly today, and it's a miracle he survived. We are doing wrong, but that's never stopped humans yet.

While it might be a thrill for those people to go diving at an aquarium to see such a beautiful animal, I think it is just as cruel and disgusting as SeaWorld with their incarcerated Orcas! An animal that magnificent and tremendously sized is not meant to swim around in circles in a tiny shallow little pool. They are meant to explore vast distances in the oceans at depths of their choosing, socialising with their own kind as and when they wish to. Incarcerated Orcas all have dorsal fin flop in contrast to their strong upright dorsal fin, it is a sign of distress and depression. Orcas in the wild do not suffer that affliction! The only reason that Orca 'Tilikum' has attacked people is because he is trapped in an unnatural environment, bullied by the two female Orcas who frequently 'rake' their teeth across him, and he is also frustrated beyond belief with SeaWord's sick ideas of how make a beautiful animal like that comply with their patronising lame BS Disney-style torture sessions. I expect even the Dolphins would be incredibly bored, totally pissed off and would rather be free. Their only human interaction being riding the bow wake of marine vessels. I have to wonder if that beautiful trapped Whale Shark doesn’t feel the same way. It is high time we stopped trapping large animals and stuffing them into what we perceive as large enclosures, but for them it is no more than a shoebox or matchbox! If someone is that keen to see them go and see them in their natural environment, otherwise watch it on digital media!

Regarding your filming of the Six Gilled sharks , certainly a rare breed . We in New Zealand have a group of them residing in the Stewart Island , the island is off the southern coast of the South Island , in very shallow water , and have been documented by Marine Biologists , who did an investigation of the shark , we noticed they were not intimidated by the divers and after quite a few hours , actually started to get a bit freaky , as in starting to warn the divers that it was time for them to leave . If your scientists want to come to NZ and look at ours , liase with our Govt Marine Science division , cheers .

👎 Portrays sharks in a bad way. Super bipolar too... Talking about shark advocation here and there, then the narrator says that there is nothing in the world more frightening to humans than sharks. Plus, you feed the sharks to condition them to associate the sound of the boat and the location to mean "dinner time". And, you also do this to get them to show up for the shark diving tourism. So, think about it .. throw fish in... Then throw people in... They think these bigger things may be food. It has been proven that "baiting" makes sharks more aggressive and less natural. They are in food frenzy mode. Sharks have good aggression sometimes, just like dogs. This dude seems like he's doing this not for the sharks, but to seem "cool" and "badass"... Smh Does anyone else get how this is redick?

Just because they're not sugar-coating the nature of this apex predator into something more appeasing to PETA people, doesnt make it wrong. Because there is a duality to sharks that animal huggers want to overlook. They'll sell you the "Mistaken for a seal" myth like these animals with heightened predatory sensors perfected through hundreds of millions of years of evolution are that dull and bungling not to distinguish the electric fields of normal prey from humans. Could it be that they just dont care? Why should they care? Should they make exemptions for Humans just because we have feelings? Then that old "More die from car crash than from shark attacks." Well gee duuuuhhh... There is an estimated 1.4 billion cars on the road today. Put that same amount of people in seas and beaches where Tigers, Whites, Bulls, white tips, Makos are known to frequent and lets see if attack numbers dont spike up.

I love sharks but lets not act like we know them and start saying what they can and can't do. Should and shouldn't do. Shark science is one of the most inaccurate science there is because no two sharks of the same species are alike, each has their own personality and they dont adhere to specific behavioral pattern.

@@izzieruiz673 yup, isn’t rocket science, asking for ‘what you get’ while ignoring the training they are giving the sharks. Yes I enjoy seeing some human interaction with more natural settings with animals but if the study isn’t distilled scientifically into something more meaningful from the human race, I rightly guess some unsatisfactory things will result along that line. If ya kill the water that we are made of, the dominoes of creation are likely to follow the way of least resistance, aren’t we all then just peeing together in our only pool? All things are connected it appears! I wish it was a dream that only a few people know.

Okay, let's assume that shark attacks are accidents. You loose a leg or die, buts it's okay because it was mistaken identity. I find this to be cold comfort. I believe in the preservation of sharks but if your on a surfboard and the great white thinks you're a seal, well your still toast. What people need to know is in the water, you're in their world. You've bought a lottery ticket where you don't want 1st prise. Don't stop people from going in the water and don't kill sharks, but be aware that you've chosen to take a risk that could have catastrophic results. It's on you.
