@@ellis1469 Yes... I use to cut all the men's hair in my family. As time went on they started losing their hair... Now I just cut my son hair. Going to the shop nowadays is very expensive... For a beard and a cut I think it's probably $50 or more.....

@@ellis1469 You might mess up a few times, but it grows back.... Try again.... the most important part is not to mess up your hairline, it's easy to push it back and thats no good... I would say let the barber line you up real good, then maybe in three days clean up the hairline by following what he did until you get the hang of it... 💪🏾💯

For me I want to learn how to cut my own hair cuz barbers be messing up my hair and they don’t listen to me they do whatever the fuck they want ruin my hair and I have to pay them I always tell them to keep the top part of my hair and the last barber only left about 20% of my front hair and completely ruined it

@@harrpp2220 after about 2 haircuts, I started giving myself a decent haircut. it was just scissor cutting the top and shaping up around the head that was super difficult. Everything else is easy. the top of hair scissor cut is super difficult. once you learn that, your good to go 👍

Learning to cut my hair was one of the best decisions I made. Don’t get me wrong it won’t ever be as crispy as going to the barber. But I have got to the point where it blends well and I just have so much more faith in myself than barbers to give myself a cut I’m happy with. Went through trial and error for nearly 2 years now but slowly you start to understand what you’re doing and how fading really works.

My brother is self taught, by cutting his own hair, through trial and error since he was 11. He is 31 now! He still has moments when he walks around with his hair and beard overgrown and wolf-like. But when he isn't too tired, he'll cut his hair. I'm always impressed by the way his haircut comes out. He still doesn't think he's a descent unlicensed barber, though. But he says when people ask him about his haircuts and/or offer him to cut their hair, he said he gets nervous because he's only used to cutting his own. Even though he always ends up giving them a haircut and it comes out nice and clean. He said he still gets nervous about it. But learning to cut your own hair takes time and is a gift 👍

Did you figure out *why* you keep messing it up? Or *what* about your attempt went wrong? An example for why: my angle in the mirror messed with my perception of the hair; solution: fix the angle. An example for what: I cut this part of my hair too high; solution: intentionally try to cut lower, to compensate. Good luck dude, hope this helps.

It comes in hella clutch being able to cut yourself up. That first haircut had me thinking if I still wanted to learn but at the end it was worth it. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes to stay fresh. Yea it takes patience to learn but once u do it’s well worth it. I’d recommend any kinda taper for a beginner. They’re much easier than when u first learn how to do a burst or a drop or all around fade.

Just recently took this into my own hands and did my 2nd haircut.. it actually looks very nice. I learned and invested into this because barbers could never get exactly what I wanted, for the right price. I was willing to pay a good amount, it’s just that nobody was consistent with their cuts. Remember guys, nobody understands what you want EXACTLY but yourself!

also try using the corner instead of the clipper straight on takes some practice on how to hold it right especially on the back of your head but it makes it less likely to put a line in remember to brush down in between passes to get the hair back in position
