Hi Pat! I can't tell you how happy the tulip block makes me :) I don't understand the folks that "are allergic to applique"! It's kindergarten or 1st grade tracing & cutting! With the strong fusibles we have nowadays, if you choose not to, you don't have to sew around shapes because it will get sewed down during quilting anyway. They should practice on scraps to get the hang of it :) Loved the tour of your house-so cute!

It's AFTER the tracing and cutting that I don't do so well. "Should" practice? I make my own choices and prefer foundation paper piecing.

The new Home Is block is very cute. Did you realise that the little tulip on the RHS has a cute little face? Ladies don't be freaked by applique - I just love it. Making a big applique quilt e.g. William Morris designs (Michelle Hill) is very soothing and compulsive. Happy St. Paddy's day.

Happy St Patrick's Day! I also have an Irish heritage. I read a tip from someone regarding thread/fabric choices for X-stitch. She said to choose the colors of thread that you want to use and then audition the fabric to see which one makes the thread stand out. I thought that sounded like a good idea.

Happy St. Paddy's Day to everyone! As soon as I am done cutting out this next block I am going to put my Irish Soda Bread together. Just love it with the corned beef and then toasted the next day. Why do I make this only once a yea??? Love this block. Not afraid of the applique, my question is after you wash the quilt the edges fray a little, is that normal? I look forward to Wednesday and am enjoying making this quilt thanks to your enthusiasm.
