On the topic of new players joining league, I actually started playing only about a year ago and had a good time even at the start. I’m not super high rank (~silver as mid and ~ gold as sup), but I definitely understand the game well enough to enjoy it. However, I tend to play a lot of hard games in a lot of other genres, have studied game design in my free time, and watched LEC for like two years before I started, which makes me a bit of an outlier.

Being a beginner and ending up in silver/gold after one year is a really good performance, a lot of beginners I know (and myself at the time) are closer to iron/bronze and struggle to improve, but it sure depends on the skill in games in general

For the drawing example you gave, I think people need to understand that a shitty drawing is better than no drawing - procrastination when not because of laziness, is because of stupid perfectionism. The best way to do a good artwork is to start doing one for fun where you dont put too much pressure on yourself, and when you get bored from doing that again and again , you will be more keen to do the big work. Idk if what I said makes sense but I think it applies to most things in life

Hey Poly, as someone who started drawing only recently, I'm not sure whether I should try to draw the things that I'm most passionate about first or whether I should prioritize doing proper studies of perspective, anatomy, colours and alike. I don't want to end up spending too much time on one drawing that I'm very passionate about only to be disappointed because the result doesn't meet my expectations but I also don't want to get burned out by only focusing on improving efficiently and never drawing things that got me into creating art in the first place. Any tips on how to achieve a good balance between those things (or any tips on this in general)? Also, hope you have a great day / night / whatever ^^

Do both! It sounds simple, but honestly, trying to learn by merging it with something you love is SUPER helpful. Like drawing backgrounds, but it's your oc's favourite spot. Or learning anatomy by drawing them based on a reference. References are your friends. And so is accepting that hey, art isnt always perfect and it probably never be in your eyes. For me, it helped to focus on what I learned during drawing this picture instead.

is it weird that i tilt more in tetris and ssbu than i do in league? what tips/resources might you suggest for getting started with drawing (want to draw characters) also what is this motivation you speak of what is it can i have some i spend too much time doing nothing productive xd. i'm blessed to have parents that provide for me even out of college while i'm still job hunting but i think that's also a major reason why i'm just plodding along

Tipping culture started as a "Wow this person is doing SUCH a good job, i think they deserve a little extra". Like a pizza delivery guy delivers it really fast or in a storm, or your waiter is on point with filling up your water glass or clearing your table...they went above and beyond so you think they deserve more. On paper it's nice. But it became too normalized. It became RUDE to not give a tip because it became seen as you effectively saying their service wasn't really that great. So then everyone always tipped. THEN employers went "well why should I have to pay THIS employee as much as everyone else when they're getting so much money from tips???" So it started out as a nice thing but just got abused.

hey poly, I am actually in the midst of transferring to uni right now. I have worked for a company for just about two years, and the place that I'm transferring to is also where the headquarters for my job is. The problem I'm currently running into is that I personally really didn't enjoy the work, it just was able to help me get the opportunity to go to uni. My job offered me an internship at the headquarters, in a new position. My uni requires an internship program while in college. Do you think I should take the free internship, or just say fuck it we ball and try to find a different one some years later?

Just gonna comment here real quick since the next Q and A video's not gonna be for a while probably and this looks like it needs a fast answer: Honestly it's kind of tough to say since I don't know the full details of your life; If you need the money or experience and don't really have anything else planned then I don't see a reason not to do the internship because worst case scenario you can always just dip out later on if you find that it's like super not good for you. If you're not that desperate though or think that you have a genuine opportunity in spending time in something else then it might be better to not do it, it really all depends on what you think is better for you. Just know the risks of not having a job for too long since companies might see that and wonder why you haven't been working for a period of time, but if you spend the time constructively then it's always going to be worth it in the end

Good video but I think on the last question your comparison does not work perfectly even though the answer is the same since joining the nba would be like a new player immediatly aiming for challenger even though they could just try to play for fun in normals. I still think it't not accesible cause there is just so much to learn that if a new player joins now he could try to learn all the stuff he needs to know and by the time he is done the season changes and he has to relearn things.

The way to deal with procrastination is in thinking in terms of "what am i doing right now". The answer is always either "i'm screwing over my tomorrow's self" or "i'm helping my tomorrow's self". If you think in those terms it brings home the idea that what matters is what you're doing **right now** not the deadline. Hope that helos
