Yes! Did a few train journeys just over a month ago as I travelled around India, a 70 year old woman, on my own for a month. At least they've got toilets, unlike the 17 hour journeys I did on the bus. But were there Western style toilets opposite the Asian ones, normally situated at the end of each carriage? To be honest, I preferred the hole in the floor ones; they were, in general, cleaner! And in so many cases, the Western toilets had shoe footprints on the seat because the locals would climb up on them and squat from on top 🫣

Chief, your ride goes by the name, Telangana Express - 12723. It's total end to end journey time is 25 hrs and 40 mins. Not sure why you'd claim it to be a 30 hours journey and use the epithets of Worst Sleeper Journey for your Vlog. Secondly, you were being thrifty there and nothing wrong with it, by choosing to travel 3AC. As you'd know, one only gets what you pay for. There's 2 more higher classes of travel/seating on this train for an incremental price of course. 2AC and First AC that offer higher degrees of comfort and peace and privacy. Thirdly, you've started in my view with a not so positive outlook - instead of going with the flow and doing it as the natives, you seem to show a deprecating tone all through. The infamous - "hole in the ground" - does not actually go onto the Tracks below, instead these are Bio Toilets, which store and process the excreta below the Coach. You may have also noticed that each Coach also has a Western Toilet/Commode available and which are routinely cleaned en route by the Onboard Housekeeping staff. There are notices pasted of the contact details of the key staff/personnel inside the Coaches for the traveling pax to contact in case of need. Lastly, you chose to share the Bunk (Berth) with your partner for the night sleep, instead of each using your respective separate berths for a comfortable sleep .... It is not my intent to mock or disrespect you in anyway, but only clarify a few incorrect comments made by you. I admit, IR has a much longer way to go to attain (similar to) Western Standards of Hygiene & Comfort, however it's a journey and we are headed there. You have chosen to visit foreign land, so experience it as the locals, instead of mocking it. Enjoy your trip to India and hopefully you will take back positive memories and experiences.

Every square inch of the floors of the entire train was packed with sleeping locals. To get to the restroom I had to walk on the beds of other passengers. Once at the restroom I had to try and hit the toilet from the doorway as the floor was 2 inches deep in sloshing.....well you know. It was a trip I'll never forget (nightmares are made from lesser things). Somehow in spite of it all I actually enjoyed it. 😉

I took the 3 days train (70 hours) from Delhi to Trivandrum (deep south), non airco second class. Enjoyed it, no problems. Took the topbed ( so you can lay down during the daytime if u like) stand in the open door watching small village life. it was in 1987. Still a good memory.

it's all relative, I suppose. As said, rode the 30 hrs 2nd class sleeper from Amritsar to Mumbai way back in 2009; enjoyed the challenge, free meals being constantly bought for me by smiling incredibly friendly Indian passengers; loads of crazy banter and the like. I was however travelling alone; and had come through Indonesia on a shoe string...After travelling from Surabaya to Jakarta on a 32 hour slow, very slow and times pedestrain; no ac; 3rd class ticket, constant cloud of smoke and people just staring at me throughout; wooden seats packed like sardines, with zero chance of sleep; the 2nd Class sleeper was luxury!!! :)

In November 2011 we took the sleeper train Ahmedebad to Nainital, 2AC, took 22 hours and there was mice running through the carriage, climbing in our boots so we tied the boots to the lamp on the ceiling. Great fun, jumping off to buy samosas - great way to see the country and meet locals.

Seriously why do you guys do this to yourself 🤣 there are so many laid back, beautiful and cheap areas in India, for instance in Karnataka and Maharashtra, close to where you were. Spending some more time on each location won’t cost that much more, and allows you to charge your batteries in between train/bus rides (and actually enjoy your stay in India.) This is just brutal! 😅 Plus - I think your travel vlogger profile and viewer numbers would actually benefit from more diverse content (like staying in beautiful villages and interesting places), rather than just brutal trips.

Few minutes of planning and a little bit of information from locals would save everything but you won't get to show the worst india titles that gets attention and views which most youtubers come here for. By Indian railway standard, it was a decent. The trains that run through poor state like Bihar gets so crowded that you literally have to step on the bunks to get to the washroom. Ben has shown as is, not photoshopped. One has to keep in mind the pricepoint £25. If you take the 6 days Maharajah Express train in Rajasthan you pay £5030 / USD 6400. You get what you pay. Those who are too touchy about raw footage, go watch something else.
