I imagine there's probably some assumptions you can make about Cyrodiil to separate the canon reality from the games. Food is probably cooked, theres probably a form of sanitation, even if its more like the roman Cloaca Maxima, there's probably state/mercenary funded transport to other cities for a fee, like caravan, carriage, or something, etc. Cyrodiil is also probably the size of a medium sized country. I'd say Germany is a good comparison. I think if i could communicate or find a translator (presumably a Breton) i would probably do decent as either a sailor or shopkeep. In real life i know basics of knot tying and canoeing is a hobby of mine so it'd be a small amount of experience with a steep learning curve... but it'd presumably be one of the safest places during the Oblivion Crisis. The biggest thing is where i end up. My goal would probably be to settle down near Lake Rumare or the Gold Coast (preferably Anvil or the Capital, but any of the surrounding towns could also work. I really dislike Leyawiin and Bravil is probably the least safe city in Cyrodiil so I'd probably want to stick away from the Niben bay, but thats a backup option

I personally can cook (I worked in kitchens for years), I can clean and do gardening (same), I can sew, I have a lot of general technical knowledge (I'm an engineer). I also practice HEMA so I have combat training and can decide to join the army or some fighting faction (It may not be the best idea... I can be a trainer though). 3) Food poisoning and alcohol would be a real concern. 4) It's baffling that a Roman inspired society doesn't have common bath houses. Even though they're not in the game I assume they would have them. 5) Over 24 hours of trying to survive, you'll probably have no time to be bored. PS The lack of chicken is actually accurate in a medieval setting (don't know if it's a coincidence or if the developer knew) but chicken wasn't commonly consumed at the time.

I find your logic commendable, but I'd like to try and break it! Survive 24 hours sounds easy enough. Go to the nearest town, clean the streets up (loot junk from barrels and boxes), sell to a general goods shop, go to the inn, eat vegetables, sleep, and win. If it's a month, hear me out: magic doesn't exist irl, but it does in the game. Vampirism, while terrible in game I agree, always gives the user 4 spells: night vision, invisibility, charm, and fear. Get Vampirism, become level 1 vampire, acquire magic, and BREAK THE WORLD OPEN! Once you learn how to go invisible, you can feed on hotel/inn guests almost risk-free. You can befriend people by charming them, reducing the risk being in cities and towns. The bonus to strength will let you become a formidable opponent at night, letting you kill and loot bandits and highwaymen. Using the money from those sales and feeding recently, one could go to a mage college and further research more magic, even procure the cure to vampirism. And once grasping the knowledge of magic, it's possible that once cured, you could still do magic once cured. (I'm thinking magic is a "flip a switch, you can now do it congrats" thing, since star signs work the same way. You are and atranoch, flip, absorb magic. You are a serpent, flip, you can paralyze on touch) Or just get 3 quills, place them in the air, sit on them, and wow, passer bys. Much less interesting but hey a septim is a septim

I dont know about anyone else, but I'd visit the local priory, get a habit from a monk and some basic education on faith and language, spend time creating a kind legacy for myself, then once I've created a foundation of connections through the temples across cyrodil, I'd inquire with my brothers and sisters of the habit, and be hauling ass to the nearest mages guild. Im in tamriel. I've gotta find their library. I've got some work to do. Nobody expects a monk who can incinerate you.

@@ChicDead26 If you haven't played Skyrim, I'd start there. It's a little bit more modern in controls and gameplay, plus it's had official graphical upgrades. Twohanded weapons and dual wielding are janky, but sword & shield, archery, and magic feel pretty good. Skyrim isn't as massive and deep as the previous two, but the combat controls are night and day better plus the perk system is pretty cool. Smaller size may sound bad, but it's still far too much content for a single playthrough. UI for mouse and keyboard is absolute garbage compared to Morrowind and Oblivion, but it's a small price to pay for overall smoother gameplay.

The funny thing about the whole “you wouldn’t survive 24 hours in the Middle Ages” thing is that they usually forget that hospitality was considered a near mandatory provision throughout much of that time. A traveler could almost always find a place to sleep and a bite to eat for at least one night. You might have to do some work or something depending on the season and time of day you arrive, but this was a common custom. You could survive 24 hours. Now a few days might be another story. That would really stink if you were around for harvesting season. That was hard work.
@noctisocculta48205 ай бұрын
Yeah, especially if you find a church. Hallowed ground means you're relatively safe for a fair while, and there's a high chance of social rejects there so you won't be too badly discriminated against as long as you pull your weight. Hard work is mostly okay if you get fed well enough; but then again, our idea of hard work is fairly relaxing compared to average medieval workday and we eat like kings compared to simple folk. I suppose it depends on time and location. But yeah, 24 hours should be manageable barring unfortunate circumstances.

Most youtubers are men and usually do informative stuff about oblivion (which is also great) + majority of the content is the same. You create really creative and cool content. Perfect for people who love this game. Speaking from the perspective of a now 17 year old girl, who started playing oblivion at the age of 4/5 due to her grandpa, who loved video games and computers back in the days, and introduced this game to her. Till this day this game influences me, I‘ve been playing it each year for 2 weeks. I really enjoy listening to the oblivion backround music. I just love the vibe cause it‘s SO nostalgic and it kinda distracts me from the daily stuff.

As an ex soldier I am quite comfortable with fighting and the more nastier aspects of it. I have indeed studied Latin though I am only passable at speaking it. I am okay with sword. But I have absolute confidence in my ability with a Bow. I also own three suits of plate armour and various combinations of mail and the like. So I know how to move in the stuff. I have an extremely strong stomach so food poisoning isn't too much a concern for me. I have hunted my whole life so taking on wildlife doesn't phase me. The Daedric dudes kinda do. As I don't have the slightest clue how tough they actually are. The no showers thing kinda sucks though. I like lava hot showers at the end of the day. And ice cold ones in the morning. An 8/10 is what I would rate my chances. Assuming I get employment with the Guards or Legion.
@clothar237 ай бұрын
@@CommanderM117 Technically speaking the Hero of Kvatch isn't anything too special. And even if they are so what ? They're the ones doing all the fighting fantastical demon things. And while Daedric beings can't die it's possible to keep them from entering enmass into the mortal world so it's not all that bad. Besides in this scenario I am not the protagonist. I am at worse some Random Guard or a soldier of the Legion. I have no qualms about killing bandits , bears , goblins , etc. Silver weapons are standard issue among the Legion and Guards so even Ghosts aren't a problem. So all I gotta do is keep my head down and follow orders. I did that for years. Ain't no reason I can't do it again.

I think theres def a chance. One thing abt Elder Scrolls that I like is that the setting tends to be hospitable in a lot of ways, I can def see myself starting at the bottom with sucky jobs but then saving my pennies to get training from the Fighter's Guild or learn a bit of magic. If you read between the lines theres always gonna be a demand for grunt work, Im sure people need wood chopped and that kinda deal, working in a vineyard for a while wouldnt be a bad deal. Im sure this is a common thing in Cyrodiil, theres no shortage of adventurers either and they have to come from somewhere. Maybe that could be an ultimate goal for me to aim for, get good enough after several years to strike out and raid an old tomb with some buddies, make a big score. Ofc getting out alive would be tough 😅

My irl lifestyle resembles a blend of Reachfolk and Bosmer traditions, rooted in hunting while preserving nature by minimizing plant damage and consuming primarily meat, including raw and blood dishes, along with occasional fruits during spring and summer. I make an exception for potatoes since the plant is nearly spent upon harvest. My expertise lies in tracking and hunting, though I possess versatile skills that extend to alchemy, jewelry crafting, cooking, and even guarding duties may work. Additionally, my experience with taming wild horses aligns seamlessly with stable work. Unlike the conventional "breaking" i saw once on Europeans and 'muricans approach, I adhere to a more gentle method rooted in Patagonian tradition, where we befriend and nurture horses until they willingly accept riders, just get a wild horse, play with it, feed it and pet it until the horse likes u.

I think there are a few questions you maybe didnt consider 1) how do we interact with the nine divines/how do they interact with us? They are a very real presence in Nirn afterall, and would no doubt take notice of an inteloper such as ourselves. Also keep in mind that all diseases are cured by simply praying at a shrine. Also what would the blessings recieved at those shrines do to us? Would we even get them? 2) do we have mana? Is it something that we could learn to use or are we incapable of interacting with it? What does a healing spell do to us? Would it speed up our metabolism and make us hungry and tired afterward? If we do have mana what does it feel like to run out? 3) while Tamrielic might be the common spoken language, many races have their own and have clear accents, meaning that they still speak their own language. Whaf do these other languages sound like? Are the Bretons british? Do they speak english or old english? Or are the bretons french? Is there a language that would be like english? 4) how big is tamriel? Is it the size as represented in the game? Or is it as big as it should be in lore? 5) whats the time scale difference? In game a day is like maybe 2 hours, would we experience days at that length or would they be real world 24 hour days? 6) a lot of wildlife in game don't really act like real wild life. Would a wolf cower away from a torch like it would in real life? Or would it ignore it like it does in the game? 7) does damage work like it does in game or in real life? If I cleave through a bandit with a sword does he just go "ah!" And lose some health or do his guts spill out?
