If it was at least 50% off I'd buy one and tune it to some 24/7 retro cartoon stream (or torrent a huge dump of sort episodic stuff and play it in shuffle) to always run in the background on mute and turn it up whenever there is something neat on show. No way for that price plus shipping tho.

I thought it might be cute as a monitor for a home server, but I guess it's a 1080p screen and no way text will be readable at that scale.

The most I would do is use this as some sort of decoration in my house, just instead of not showing any moving image or being limited to slide shows, it can play my own vids. But I might as well buy an actual old tiny worn-out CRT TV. Either that or just a decorative one for less than a meal's cost.

Pretty cool, yeah. I had a smaller, battery-powered version of this in 1989, and I even took it to school a few times and watched TV in the cafeteria. It was the size of an iPhone, but it flipped open. Super-cool, and my classmates thought I was a spoiled brat, which I was.

I was thinking this would be ideal as a second screen for a laptop so one can play videos on the side while having the whole main screen for the main task, but between its price and having a proprietary plug for power rather than USB that use case went out the window. It'd still make for a nice gadget for a bed side table tho.

@Poorgeniu5 Жыл бұрын
Looks nice as an display piece mostly. I could see this being used for niche things like an always on camera feed, ssh terminals or likely for an Raspberry Pi project. But at an head scratching $120, I would say throw away the Android stuff and just sell it as an HDMI or USB C monitor below $70.

Very much it's own experience. Same with the GB Micro, other old screen tech and so on. Not a thing I'd do but it has it's own fair novelty factor. If I can't read text I don't like them (aka Switch when most make it for TV not Switch handheld screen size, aka some Vita ports, playing GBA on an OG DS sometimes and so on old devices with awkward hard to read/play/watch experiences), or just to see for visuals alone they can be fun enough to just see what it's like/how it does it on an odd/emall screen size.
@suntannedduck2388 Жыл бұрын
It can be useful in a small diorama. It's a fair product. One of my favourite videos is the HipGear controller (and console library among others) after all. XD But yeah price is high. While limited Android the emu of fits the style of the TV even if IPS and whatever the case but 4:3 for sure. For fun indeed hoops of cables. XD Not even a car adaptor? Or a power bank. If you can a Wii U, PS1 LCS or Xbox Series S with a screen you can do anything likely? Depends how the power cable/power source requirements are I guess.

If it were designed as just a small monitor, I'd get one myself. It's second only to an actual mini CRT monitor as my absolute white whales of display tech. Having a low resolution LCD is handy to forcefully test performance of new games in such low hardware scaling.

Yeah i can see some appeal with this but for me, an old Android Tablet can do the same stuff and be easier on my eyes - i have an older Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 and i can do that stuff, bluetooth, and even use sideload Moonlight to stream my PC games to it over the network, and that thing uses Android 6 (i may use Lineage OS on it to upgrade it to Android 11 Go). But yeah even the tiny tv aspect for me personally isnt a thing as i have an older Radio Shack portable 5" tv that runs off of batteries, is black and white plus has mono AV inputs. But as i said, i can see the appeal, especially as a gift, but that price tag in Canadian Dollary-Doos isnt easy on the wallet...
