This song is now officially 40 years old and having heard it randomly today in a Trader Joe's in LA I realize it more perfectly encapsulates the feeling of being in your 40s in the year 2024 than Mr. Kershaw could have ever imagined.

I’m not sure if Nik could have possibly known how this song allowed me to feel my emotions as a teen being abused almost daily. Over 40 years later it still allows me to release emotions related to complex PTSD suffered throughout my life. The recent healing merges with the memory of those who bullied and abused me and allows me to remember that those days are no longer present. It reminds me that I can show my emotion in a safe place…..finally without repercussion. It reminds me of my growth. It allows me to revisit my pain and appreciate that someone felt as desperate and lonely as myself but never gave up and kept fighting. I love this song so much.
