@@amitandutube No problem. To overdub is to add something to a recording after you make it. So, you might start with what we see in this video. 4 people sitting in the room playing music together. After that, the singer puts on headphones, listens to it, and records more parts. This makes it sound like there is a group of backup singers. Double tracking is a specific type of overdub where the singer tries to copy the original melody as close as possible. It makes the sound stronger/thicker and a little echo-y.

@@amitandutube I brought it up as a similarity, not a difference, between this 2023 cover to and 1966 original. In response to the idea "don't use studio tricks, just play music live and authentic." The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson were actually using studio tricks too, and it's part of why it sounds so cool! Part of the magic.

Yeah I was a teenager on California beach when this came on radio and vinyl with Pet Sounds. Beautiful hearing young people near the age of my grand children performing this arrangement here. Wouldn't it be nice now I am 58 years older.

@@MichaelColombo Well, a chorus device takes a signal, delays it slightly, and modulates the delay time so it's not just a static time delay. Those slight time/pitch shifts become what we consider chorusing. So really, it's both here - her double tracking isn't machine perfect, and those little imperfections cause what you're hearing as chorus.

Stories was better at the beginning when stripped down version was just that. Two guitars and a singer. No ridiculous vocal filters, no added backing vocal tracks, no percussion. This was a quiet version of the song, but was certainly not stripped down. Sounded highly produced IMHO
