LENÇOIS MARANHENSES, BRAZIL: A DESERT with a THOUSAND LAGOONS - ALL sights

Lençois Maranhenses is a bizarre natural wonder in the north of Brazil. Nowhere else in the world you can find a desert-like landscape like this combined with a thousand of blue lagoons in half moon shapes. The ecosystem of the National Park of Lençois Maranhenses is quite unique and the falling rain creates a natural swimming paradise during and after the rain season. We hop on a 4x4 to make several adventurous trips to Lagoa Azul, Lagoa Bonito, the beautiful sunset, the beach and the fishermen's town of Atins. We dine at the world famous Sr. Antonio's to try their delicious grilled shrimp.
We visit Brazill during a year long trip around the world and we might even keep traveling indefinitely. On new year's we started on Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. After that you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Brazil is already our fourteenth destination. Follow us on this world tour, first in Brazil and then to many more beautiful destinations! We also cross to Asia, Oceania and Africa! Something a lot of people unfortunately miss between Jericoacoara and Lençóis is the Parnaíba Delta in Piauí. It's in the middle of the way and it really deserves more recognition! In the delta, everyday around 5h30 pm there's the flight of the Guará (a very red bird). They fly like a ballet in the sky and land in a small island on the delta. It's amazing to see.

Você já começa errando. O Delta do Paranaíba não é exclusivo do Piauí. Aliás, a maior parte do Delta, 70% de toda a área pertence ao estado do Maranhão. A vantagem do Piauí esta no fato de que tem a cidade com mais estrutura na Região- Parnaíba. Não obstante, os passeios são feitos n área maranhense.

Those things on the beach aren’t fossils they are called ‘Sand dollars” they are what’s left of a flat sort of sea creature that’s related to sea anemone

They are indeed sand dollars, but they are not closely related to anemones. They are echinoderms, animals closely related to starfish (they have a similar five-pointed star shape), sea cucumbers, or sea urchins. (In fact, they are basically a flattened urchin.) What you see at 7:45 is the dried-out skeleton of a dead animal. At 8:05 you have what appears to be a living one, which will be covered with tiny spines and feet.

É a cor natural de pequenas lagoas ao acesso dos lençois, e a água é absolutamente limpa, o solo que é escuro e a torna assim, pois é uma região onde chove muito e há intensa de posição de sedimentos, deixando o solo com aparência mozozítica. Hi Deuzilene, we booked a half day tour to the Lago Azul and also a Sunset tour. You can do both on the same day and book them at local hotels. We had several days in Lencois so plenty of time to explore around the town as well. Have you checked out the other videos in Brazil? Nenhum dos dois lol. Essas lagoas são formadas com águas das chuvas. Algumas são permanentes, mas a maioria delas desaparece durante o período sem chuvas.

Se colocassem camelos seria perfeito, o lugar em si ja é lindo e com camelos ficaria melhor ainda pois seria uma atração turística a mais, tenho certeza quê eles se adapitariam facilmente, eles são animais de clima quente e seco, e os lençóis maranhenses tem o quê eles precisam, deserto de areia e pequenas lagoas de água doce
