Very good video. I just bought one of these for satellite work. Do you more of these videos where you program for full-duplex operations?
@n1cy5824 жыл бұрын
the radio by default will operate in full duplex as long as the lower bank channel is a different band than the upper, or visa versa. Example Upper is VHF & lower is UHF.

Regarding programming the uv8d Wouxun radio... When programming the repeater, which frequency do I use, the transmit or the receive freq? I'm super new to this!
@n1cy58210 жыл бұрын
Hi, you need to program the receive frequency, then make sure to program the offset direction, plus or minus. After that program the offset value, on VHF its 600KHz, and on UHF its 5MHz (5000KHz) ... finally program the repeater access Tone, you should be set. When you transmit, you'll see the display frequency will switch to the repeater input frequency. Example 146.610- repeater freq (receive). When in transmit, you should see 146.010. Good luck

Mick Gatz thank you for kind comment, the center consul is an HF radio, head unit on top of a 220Mhz FM radio. The yaesu 857D and the Alinco 220 radio. 73 N1CY

ahhhhh, too much technology, i am playing with baofeng uv5r's to try to create a community repeater as our alpine repeater is not in service anymore. :( I am learning, but what frustrates me is that Dual xband repeater is not what i want. I'm hoping there was a transceiver that could act as a Duplex Repeater but, not much luck thus far. Power limited to 5w.. currently on my desk i have a wouxun acting as a repeater with 2 baofeng uv 5rs' and seems to work really well, on for the fact i have to set a vhf frequency that is not allocated, so i'm using it for testing purposes only. It should not interfere as i am in remote location. Also waiting on some cables to connect 2 baofengs as a 'buddy system' which i learnt from someone from Phillipines, that dude that was operating in the 152Mhz range, which i want to test on legal UHF frequencies. I will add the link, tell me what you think?...... kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXzVeWtsed-bpMU and here is another interesting one i found..... kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2W4dKtnqKuiqJo Thus far, i've found it's all vhf/uhf, but i was looking for uhf/uhf Kind Regards, Mick (VBQ543) < my legit CB Callsign from a long time ago..... Want to use to monitor public safety freq., can I disable the PTT so I don't transmit?
@n1cy5828 жыл бұрын
+ChicagoScanner No, just be careful. or you can program odd split, so when you press the PTT, it will TX on a ham simplex freq, like 446.500 for UHF and 146.550 on VHF.

Ok I got it but how does the offset work for other frequencies thanks and forgive the ignorance 😳😳wb8tcu
@n1cy5829 жыл бұрын
+John Winterrod Ok, so say you want to use a repeater on a hilltop or a building, so the repeater has a receive frequency and a transmit frequency. Typically, the repeater transmit is separated from the receive frequency by an offset of either 600 KHz on VHF and 5 Mhz on UHF. So you program in your radio the repeater output or transmit frequency (and this would be YOUR RADIO receive frequency) and you put an offset of either a plus or minus, so when you talk on your radio, that frequency will be offset by (whatever value for VHF or UHF) and then your radio will transmit on the repeater RECEIVE FREQUENCY (your radio's TRANSMIT frequency). The repeater then, will take that signal from its receiver and retransmit it on the output. So say you program a repeater with frequency of 446.700 and you put a - (minus sign) next to it. in your display window on the radio...when you transmit by pushing the Push to Talk, you'll see that the frequency will be offset by 5 Mhz and you will transmit on 442.700. So offset is only necessary for repeater access. Hope this was helpful and not confusing lol :/

+John Winterrod offset is shift direction (+ or -) I have since sold this radio to get the UV9D, I think it's menu number 16 or 17.... possibly 24 or 25...than you have the shift value, typically on VHF its 600 Khz and 5 Mhz on UHF. Good luck.
@n1cy5829 жыл бұрын
+John Winterrod also to add; offset is typically for repeater work, and not for point to point simplex operation.
