Happy New Year Kathy & fellow stitchers! What a surprise that you posted our first stitch along on New Year’s Day 2024. I’m looking forward to your monthly stitch videos from the comfort of my home. If we have another snowy winter like last year in the Sierra, having several projects to look forward to will shorten our long winter days. Thank you!

I just watched the video and I am so happy to be sewing along with everyone! I purchased the red and plan on using DMC floss. I favor DMC because that is what my grandmother used when she taught me to embroider with her when I was 5 years old. I stopped in my middle teens started again in my twenties and stopped. Finally started again in my fifties and never looked back. It is so calming and I think of my grandmother. Happy 2024 everyone and happy sewing!

You message makes me do happy! My neighbor, Mrs. Whitaker, taught me when I was 7. I didn't pick it up again until around 40. Like you, I found a real peace with it. ❤️

I chose the red and I am also using the suggested Valdani. Loving every stitch. It's been several years since I've done an embroidery project. Boy am I rusty! I decided to try the no knot way . . . halfway through I went back to knots! Old habits die hard. Thank you for putting this lovely project together for all of us.

I have a question…I am planning to add color with your colored pencil technique….Should I put a stabilizer fabric behind the printed panel so it is easier to color like you have suggested in some of your other videos?

Oh I can't wait to see your colored version. I hope you will post it on IG 😊 I always like to iron a piece of freezer paper on the back while I'm coloring.

Thanks so much for this Sew along, Kathy. I JUST finished all 10 of your folk animals, so in need of another embroidery project. I can't tell you how please I am with all of the animals! So adorable! Thanks again..... K. I'm doing the green version of this project, btw. Plan to make a table topper - and green works better for me. Although I actually love the blue the best.
