I shopped for trucks for an entire year; drove and rented everything and tested them all myself. Nothing even came close to the RAM 1500 new body style. I purchased a Limited with all the gadgets one year ago and it is the most amazing truck ever. I never thought I would be a RAM guy, but this truck is AMAZING! I love when I have to go somewhere, I can't wait to drive my truck to include going to work each day. Just so satisfying. RAM hit a grand slam when they built this truck.

The funny part is I would never have considered any FCA product until an exec at FCA challenged me to drive a Challenger (he knew I raced the Corvette). When I found myself doing 155 MPH in a Challenger with 6.4L engine with one hand on the wheel, I was shocked. Now own both a Challenger and the RAM. Both are the most comfortable vehicles in their classes. The Challenger is not a race car (too heavy; doesn't handle that great) but in real life? I love it. And it's fast. The limited is actually more sophisticated looking than mine. There was some combination of parts I could not get unless I got the Limited Longhorn (can't remember what), but both are nice. I like the "cleaner" design of the limited better when being purely objective.

He was super sensitive to noise and ride quality, so the RAM was a clear winner. It was weird how rough riding his Mercedes was in comparison. Maybe he had the ride set for sport and didn't know it? I was weary of the truck having issues due to the complexity of the electronics and air suspension. I was always had an image of RAM being a lower quality truck. A year with it, and no issues at all. As a matter of fact I think it is absolutely amazing that they can get a truck to do all these amazing functions AND be reliable at the same time. Mercedes puts out the same level of sophistication and they are in the shop constantly due to bugs. I'm completely objective. I'm not dogmatic (I'm not a Dodge or Chevy "believer") but a good car person no matter which brand. The RAM is top notch. Best out the Mercedes S Class for luxury car of the year last year and look at consumer reports on the reliability of the 2021 RAM and they, who are completely biased towards Japanese cars are agreeing with my conclusion as well. Love the review, love my 10th anniversary limited longhorn. No trailer brake, no ram box. Looking for cover for the bed. Dealer said with the multi function tailgate I couldn't get a hard cover. What kind is yours?
@jayscott13804 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem last year with a Ram limited with multi function tailgate. I was able to easily convert a extang hard cover to a ram with multi function tailgate myself. The reason they say the hard cover won't fit is because the multifunction tailgate has an extra bracket in the front of the truck bed, right where the bed covers attach. Bed cover manufactures haven't created something to attach to that bracket. All I did was buy a longer machine screw for each side and then slightly grind away a portion of each clamp so that the front clamps of the bed cover could clamp onto the brackets. It worked great. It was easy too.
@MyoVision4 жыл бұрын
Mine is canvass from the factory. I can do a search but the rambox limited you to either custom covers $$$$$ or perhaps a group has decided to meet the need. It is crazy.
@jayscott13804 жыл бұрын
@@MyoVision you can easily modify an extang, takes about 10 minutes, if that, and 2 or 3 dollars for a couple longer machine screws of the same thread type. It's very easy, but this is with the extang. I don't know about other covers, but most are probably self-modifiable with a little imagination.

I have the RAM Limited which I have all those those options as you do - the thing I like better about the Limited, it has the same interior without all that cowboy stuff. It has a BMW type interior and no buckles or wild stitching and no barn wood. To clarify on your mirror comment, you could get electronic folding mirrors with cameras in 20, just not those big trailer two mirrors (which I hate). The smaller tow mirrors are much easier to see and are much better, they do a great job towing my 30' bumper tow trailer. You have a great looking truck! I like all the comments.

I agree with you about the limited. I wanted a combination of some options which I could not get in the limited at the time (for some reason). I simply do not look at the buckle, and I'm glad they put them in the back seat and not the front. You're totally right about the interior being more BMW than Cowboy. I'm not a cowboy, so I live with it. Typically things that annoy you get worse over time. Not this. The truck rides so well, that I don't even notice the things like the buckles etc. Thanks for sharing.

So if they offered 0% financing the day after you pick it up, you don't get it, so it is a crap shoot when you order. When you go through Costco (maybe other services), the price is fixed so they can't mess with it whether ordered or not. Sorry for the delay. KZbin would not let me reply.

The air suspension is so fantastic that yes I would say it would reduce one factor that creates back pain, the jolts and jarring which occurs without it. I did go with the 3.92 axle and I definitely would say it does not struggle at all from a standing start when towing. You never get anything for free. It also comes with worse gas mileage, but I love the fact I can't feel the trailer behind me when launching from a red light. The Brown brown brown thing? Been a year of it and I personally love it. To me it is a more soothing color and less sterile than the black but always follow your gut and your first response is what you may want to do. It was more difficult for me, as I never saw a truck configured with this color scheme. I can tell you when it came in, the sales manager was extremely upset and said to me "I can't believe I did not order this color combination as many people will like it. We are all different. All combinations are great and all about personal preference. Thanks ! David

@@nasaguy373 Thanks NASAguy? My folks both worked for NASA! (Propulsion; Mass Properties and trajectory) Anyway, I did end up ordering the 3.92 and the air suspension. I went with the 10th anniversary Limited which just came out in Fall 2021 for ordering. It's not here yet though :( The interior of the Longhorn 10th in Mt. brown was very nice, especially the suede seats and the wood trim. The one I ordered is the Sea Salt Indigo interior, less warm kind of look, but I liked it better than all-black. I did like the Longhorn Black with Brown seats, but overall I wanted a brighter interior for the long run and also the blue dash gauges I liked better with the overall package. All these are fantastic combinations. Oh, my other car is a Chevrolet SS which is Not very quiet and you can feel the V-8 engine through the steering wheel. I love it. This Ram is kind of several things the SS is not, in a good way.

The video failed to show what the Laramie package offers. Video states the Laramie does not have these features, but that is incorrect. The options on the Laramie are very simular to the Limited. The video compared a low end Laramie compared to the Laramie I purchased that had almost all the same things as the Limited. The Laramie also comes with night package for a couple thousand more. Excluding the leather stitching, you can get the Laramie with about everything the Limited has for about the same price as the base msrp price on the Limited.

That is a good question: I have not yet found the AUX connections but I think they are on the back of the head unit. I think when you install a camera somewhere, you have to wire it to the rear. What is the tow rating on your truck?
@davidmarcarian30493 жыл бұрын
It is kind of confusing. I bought it with the 3.92 axle, making the gas version having a higher tow rating than the diesel (the 1500 diesel is not like a Cummins). I believe it is 12,100, or 11,700. I know it is one of those two. I would have to do a bunch of research to figure it out. The axle is the trick of course.

I don't know about that guy but my truck MSRP' $72,600 and I got it for $50,000 plus tax and tags. You can get any truck $20k off MSRP, you just have to wait until all dealer and manufacturer rebates, etc. are maxed out...purchased mine in June so that might be about the time they are ripe for rebates. I went on to three dealer websites that I narrowed down to having the best deals, then I kept going back to those sites each night until all rebates etc. were lined up and then I pulled the trigger. This RAM truck is the most amazing truck on the market, and yes I looked, rented and drove the F150 and it did not even compare the RAM is just so much better.

Honestly I bought it through the Costco program, so the price was set by Costco, and I have no idea what I paid for it. If it was an American truck I would consider it but my concern is that when you purchase a foreign vehicle you are supporting that country’s economy. Since Chrysler and Dodge were bought by Fiat it became a foreign company and now the French are now part owners. I am one who thinks that freedom of choice is great but I will always consider an American vehicle first because our economy depends on it. Just expressing my opinion so don’t start hating and my channel is blocked so don’t comment.

@jathawk1014 жыл бұрын
@@charlesdr1981 - What is stupid about a car company that was run down by certain executive including Lee Iacocca never improving the quality or evolve their engines for better performance. 318 and 389 were the only engine in their lineup but it took certain engineers to develop the current style and performance. RAM use to be Dodge and Chrysler is used to develop their passenger cars, Jeep was kept within the company and they finally got rid of Mitsubishi because I was never a good seller. Finally Fiat purchased Chrysler and Dodge from Daimler Mercedes Benz. So technically Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep are not an American company and just because they are built in the USA doesn’t make them American anymore. So Honda is built in the U.S. does that make Honda American ? Being American means the U.S. keeps the profits and helps our economy and Italy now benefits from the Chrysler group sales not the U.S. and I am all for our economy the U.S.flourishing from sales are you?

Stallantis is the new name for the combo company now. Remember that many of the overseas parts that are made for all vehicles are many times American companies that moved overseas due to restrictions and unions that drove up costs. Companies are in it for profit and to get the most for their investors who can also be many American investors. Product is product to any smart business person. Yes, I buy American whenever I can, but that does tend to become hard these days with so much international trade and business that goes on. My wife's Buick would appear to be made in a western county, but No, it was made in China.

What keeps me up at night is how many more American car companies are going to be sold but I find refuge in the fact that their are 2 true American car companies, Ford and General Motors. Hyundai approach of trucks...RAM. one of most unreliable truck experience so far, yup beautiful and all, but what's the point. Lease it for 2 years plan, use it and return it before it breaks down, but it will sure break down during that first 2 years. It sat in garage more than I could use it and that's for family use not work. Have F150 Lariat, love it, everything works, superb mileage, 0-60 in about 6 seconds, active pre-collision allert and active braking, can't beat that. It will take Dodgr years before they can catch, yes RAM can sure compete with GMC and Chevrolet.
@davidmarcarian30493 жыл бұрын
Technically you are right, and I agree. It blows my mind how quick my brother's F150 is with a turbo 6. Amazing how quick it is. It is all about priorities. When we drove them side-by-side, the sophisticated ride of the RAM was amazing, but you're right that the reliability is probably not great long-term. It is a good lease vehicle. The big surprise is that it has had almost no issues at all in the first 6 months (I am posting a follow-up video). I expected it to have all kinds of problems, but I have not. But you and I know that the Ford is probably more reliable. My priorities are on the ride quality. Mercedes has more problems than the RAM, but we will see. I can "feel" that there are so many things I fear are going to fail, but they have not. It is strange. Maybe they got the manufacturing down after 3 years? Good points!

I had the same opinion prior to owning it. I don't dogmatically believe in any brand. A year later I can say I've been surprised that I have not had any issues except one minor one. Sure the interior is great in these new Rams and there are some cool features, but as always Ram/FCAs reliability sucks. I would like to see if this Truck can make it to 50k-75k miles trouble free. @sgibson24863 жыл бұрын
My 2008 had no issues with over 135,000 miles. My 2000 had a speed sensor go out after 100000 miles, so to say not reliable would be a false statement and just an opinion. I expect my 2021 to last even longer without issues.

I ordered a '21 Ram 1500 Limited EcoDiesel about 3 1/2 weeks ago, still in D status. I was gonna get the 10th Anniversary Limited Longhorn but it had removed some options from the package shortly after release like the bright medal pedals. It also is just wayyyyyy too much of the same shade of brown (and I love brown). It's also kinda lacking exterior badging denoting its a 10th. Also, your salesman sounds like a moron, he should know damn well about the mirrors and cameras and how they changed it for 2021 1500's. Your truck is actually about $1k more than mine MSRP, even though its a lower trim, I find that funny. I didn't get the Night Edition, Body Color Bumper Group, Ram Telematics, Camera Wiring Prep Group, or Cold Weather Group (even though I wanted to add the CWG last minute), but I have everything else. The diesel is cheaper for the Limited for 2021 compared to lower trims and air suspension is standard so that's probably mainly why. Anywho glad you love the truck and how long did it take from ordering to receiving it?
