Two things I'm getting from this: 1) By the time of the "M" starfleet had pretty much given up on making the Enterprise look like any of her predecessors. 2) Every ship in the future is a time ship. This is important to make sure no one forgets the name Enterprise! (We'll change history to make sure you remember it!)

Holy crap what a ship! The sides of the ship look similar to the Delta Flyer. I assume those are part of the engines. I was surprised how quickly it mopped up the other ships. Not surprised it didn't beat the Federation Battlestar Galactica.

I would suggest it is smaller because I assume it has Quantum Slipstream drive or something of the sort, which means its exploratory missions are not that long. Shorter missions means fewer crew and less space for recreation and endurance related supplies.

Basically, its a prototype wells class. In my personal lore, the wells class is the 3rd generation of fed timeships. The first two being the song class (as seen above) and the klein class which hasnt been made yet

Yes but it didn't have a designated temporal drive. The M was the first ship of its class to specifically investigate temporal incursions and disruptions in time

However the Enterprise J in the Star Trek online lore, was actually designed in the thirty-first century, but existed and was made in the twenty-sixth century due to the temporal Cold war
