There's an interview where she explains how she found ballet boring when she was younger, wanted gymnastic but was thrown into ballet. How she loves the acting classes, the more contemporary stuff and basically in belt what got her was the physical aspect (and theatrical) "how can she dance on pointe for two hours ?" (I quote her, or the translation of what she said). It really shows I think, those are her strong points, and if it gets her happy then it's perfect. But yeah I was struck how she really was blunt and "yeah no classical ballet was super boring and even today I prefer more contemporary work and I wanted to be a gymnast nor a ballet dancer." She also talks in the interview how with her coach at the Kirov they were making specific new jump combination for her and all to challenge her. That was an extremely interesting interview (by the dancer diary... But you seem to know Natalia so I guess that you might have watched it ?)

@@АлексейАнисимов-и5о Не слышала про косолапость Кшесинской. Кстати, к великим её мало кто причисляет. Технически, да, была очень продвинутой. Вот, что писал о Кшесинской Теляковский, директор императорских театров: " Все довольны, все рады и прославляют необыкновенную, технически сильную, нравственно нахальную, циничную, наглую балерину". :) Но зато внешне - само очарование. Анна Павлова не обладала совершенной техникой, но артистизм поднял её на недосягаемую высоту. Про Галину Уланову тоже некоторые говорили, что она технически не совершенна.:) У Осиповой же в глаза сразу бросаются её техническая виртуозность, экспрессивный темперамент при несовершенстве внешних данных. Да и руки плохо поставлены кажется. Артистизм, актерское мастерство - тут ещё работать и работать. Лично моё мнение, с уважением к вашему. Поэтому пока остаюсь при своих взглядах.:)

Петипа самокритично относился к танцевальному таланту дочери Мария из-за, прошу прощения, голимый классический балетный академизм и отсутствие артистизма и харизмы.(Из дневников друзей и коллег, если я не путаю). That certainly is an apt description of her dancing from what I can tell, as no ballet expert. Fast, precise, strong. That's obvious just watching her. I don't think she ever had a moment's hesitation in dancing a part. I live in Houston. Now that I think of it, if I remember correctly, you are in the Beaumont area. Really enjoy your ballet videos. I learn a lot from them and I hope you continue to do them. And thanks for doing them as well.
