I enjoyed how you provided so much useful information in under 6 min. Lots of pen reviews work hard to drag it out unnecessarily for 30 min. I find I rarely finish watching their entire video. Well done. Thanks.

As a person of vintage years who had a dip pen at school, the nib does get smoother with use. The fountain pen I had in high school was much nicer, not that endless dipping but I have to say these pens look divine

Moeharri, I've had my share of glass dip pen mishaps so I understand your decision to go steel and brass. That is the risk of watching these videos, you will just have to let me know how all your purchases are going! Thanks for the congrats!

@@lianelikes I received my nibs and holder last night and gave them a try today. They worked OK, but still aren't quite what I'm looking for. The ink goes down far too dark and doesn't shade. I was hoping for something which replicates what the ink would look like coming out of a fountain pen, instead of just being a way of putting ink on paper, which they do pretty well. I also received a new glass dip pen (Rohrer & Klingner) which I like more than my previous glass dip pen (Herbin Round), as it shows some shading, but it's super broad (like maybe double broad). My search continues for the perfect ink tester 🙂

@lianelikes Жыл бұрын
You definitely have to try one of the metal nibs. I’ve found that I prefer using them to draw with instead of writing, they’re really fun to swatch inks with, for sure, just not so much for longer writing sessions.

@@lianelikes I’m not very artistic (I wish I was), but would love to try one because of the different widths of lines it can make.

I see that the glass is your favorite, but if you had to choose between the brass and the steel, which do you prefer and why? Thanks!
@lianelikes2 жыл бұрын
You know, hard to say, only because I’ve used it with that one ink alone. I’ll have to test it out with other inks to really get a feel for the different nibs. But so far, I’ve enjoyed the stainless steel nib. The brass looks prettier in my opinion, but right off the bat, I prefer writing with the stainless steel nib. But I’ll have to get back to you in a few months of testing and playing with these nibs before I have a definite answer!
@marilyngardner42692 жыл бұрын
@@lianelikes Thank you! I only have the brass Kakimori nib so far, but based on other reviews I've seen, I probably should have gotten the steel. Some have indicated that the steel nib has a more precise, sharper line. I may have to get one. I really can't justify the glass nib because I have several other glass dip pens already (including one Kemmy's Labo, which appears to have a similar nib ).
@maywewonder Жыл бұрын
@@lianelikes do you know which nib you prefer now? ☆♡

I still like the stainless steel nib! Gives me precise line widths and feels smoother. I just wished it was brass, just because I prefer the warm color over the cooler stainless steel.

Hi! Dumb question, but do you think the steel/brass nib would handle India ink, or other waterproof/pigment inks?
@lianelikes Жыл бұрын
You know, I haven’t tried pigment I JS with pigment inks but I bet they would work quite well! Kakimori has a line of pigment inks that are well suited for their brass and stainless steel nibs. For waterproof inks, I imagine cleaning would be a bit more difficult.
