It's nice to see you expanding in the retail space. Very nice showroom! I'd recommend putting a slide show on the tv of projects where your material is used (historical remodel projects?). Good idea to have your merch there. You might also consider adding your BBQ kits, cutting boards, and a mock up of your garden beds. Kudos to you!

I wish I could have found a woman like the boss lady back in the day! She's done a helluva job raising you kids and working with your dad!! Sure she's beautiful, she looks more like your sister than your mother but much more importantly is that she such a high quality/caliber induvidual. You should be proud of her and thankful for her influence in your life... Do your best to emulate her learn as much about life as you can from her, she's truly impressive!

Something occurred to me that I just have to say. You have the NICEST PARENTS. Just look at how both the mother and the father don't talk over her or talk down to her, or force her to say things, or interrupt her, or talk in front of her: I wish I had parents like that. They are LITERALLY putting their daughter forward as her OWN PERSON, as an independent human being who deserves to speak. I never had that. A normal parent, will always talk down, talk over, force, interrupt, demean, take over words and sentences, put words in your mouth, and humiliate no matter how old you get.

The store looks absolutely great. The colors chosen for the interior design go very well with the wood. You can't beat Grandfather's watch as a good gift idea - it turned out really brilliant. Don't forget, thoughtful and targeted advertising for the store is an important step towards success. I live exactly 4026 miles from LCLY, and it started snowing again here and as of today everything is white. Cool right? ⛄

I had the same thought. Some large, well-done glossy photos of Ken working in the forest and the sisters working in the log yard illustrating the source and processing of the lumber would be nice. It could help visitors and buyers more fully appreciate what it took to create all the samples on the walls. All of you rock!

Wonderful retail outlet that I have no doubt will succeed. Love grandpa’s clock with the chainsaw chain perfectly inlaid. He is a true craftsman of the highest order. My wife and I built our current house thirteen years ago using locally felled and milled 4.5 inch wide ash tongue and groove long plank flooring throughout the entire house which I hand finished with three coats of pure tung oil. I was hoping to make a visit down from Vermont last fall on my motorcycle but took a two week ride down to Ashville NC riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway instead. This coming summer I’ll be sure to make a trip down to say hi. Hoping the ground is finally hard enough for the skidder so Bossman can harvest some timber!

I guess the next logical step is to get a decent sized 2 story "shed/garage" to store the lumber in with some nice wide garage doors or some form of sliding wall to get a fork lift in and out, a loading dock of sorts where there's bays for lumber storage with access to them from either side, and temperature control/ventilation where needed. Gonna need a big concrete slab for that. Just a thought.

a concrete floor with embedded heating like Matt Cremona did would be great--he's got a super wide door to bring big chunks of wood in, and plenty of room to drive a big fork lift around, and it's a controlled space where he can let wood acclimate for years if he has too
