I think they should start simple, like maybe just a flat or an apartment in Orgrimmar and Stormwind. Then as Midnight progresses, add some bigger ones in more locations like a tower in the revamped Silvermoon and a treehouse on Bel'ameth. Then much larger spots later on, like a whole inn on Dornagal or a small estate in Suramar and so on. The Stronghold system from SWTOR might be a good one to copy, too.

They don't need to make carpentry a full-on secondary profession: Protoform Synthesis used a profession UI and also featured gathering up materials from killing stuff in that zone. Making a (secondary) profession with levels and recipes accountwide might be too difficult at this time.

I saw a comment somewhere about how that person wanted portals in their home. While that would be cool, I think that - or any other "service" - would make housing feel like you have to have it or you're missing out. You mentioned a mailbox and crafting tables, but if those are tied to the home they should be achieved in a similar way to other mailboxes and crafting tables otherwise people may again feel like they're missing out. One thing I DO want for my home is an ability to fast travel there and when I leave I will go right back where I was.

In my opinion, housing should be like in SWTOR (the Star Wars MMO), instanced different thematic places where u can go relaxing, decorating (with the possibility to display your mounts in different spots, like in SWTOR). Also in that game, guilds can have it's own Stronghold (house).

I like how Housing worked in Ever Quest 2. You had apartments for starter characters, and you could move to bigger apartments as you gained more etc. When they added houses and Castles (for guilds) they had areas in the city where those places where setup and you would click on the door to purchase, view it before purchase and pay upkeep on your places. You had the ability to put stuff on the auction house from your place or people could come to your place and purchase directly which would eliminate the AH cut. I know in EQ1 when they added it, it was a portal in certain areas that house giant community's where people could purchase a lot and then put down the house they want and the landscape.
@Whatever-mq7vyКүн бұрын
Neighbourhoods. Real neighbourhoods where people living there are getting AH, tables, vendors, portals, etc. together. "Gifted by: xxx" - if that someone moves out with their WARBAND, it's gone. People come through the entrance of the city to get to their neighbourhood. No more portal jumping from teleportation rooms (imagine everyone running into the city). No more flying mounts around the big cities maybe. Give people choice what to put into their homes and make it a tough choice. Limit neighbourhoods and make them big: If you enter stormwind: You will see the same neighbourhood always. "Oh, they have a new roof!". No portals. Just CONSISTENT shards. Full realms should be brimming neighbourhoods, empty ones less so. Make living quarters in different parts of the world also. Make it expensive if you want more than standard. Something to strive for (and you make $, Blizz). If you fly around the world, let some loners be loners somewhere (expensive or high achievements). It could be epic.

22:47 Player Housing should be where QoL mechanics can be grouped. Such as a profession table, bank access, rest accumulation (at a faster pace), mailbox access, transmog, A garage for your mounts (not my idea - I saw that on stream chat). Perhaps even a bookcase that could have ALL of the tomes collected. Feel free to add to this list down below. 🕊

I think if people want to get the jump on collecting, I think there's a good chance that they'll make a bunch of toys unlock furniture (like the pillows that they gave tailoring in DF). Could be worth looking through those to see what could be furniture.

What I would like, is to be able to build a "community" where our houses are in the same instance. But I would love if you could go "home" and see your friend in their house doing stuff from across the road =)

For Player Housing: Guilds should be able to buy a large plot of land that is then parsed out to guildies for their individual homes. Have a guild (clubhouse), and then each player have a small plot of their own house, creating an almost custom neighborhood with your guild.

I actually want carpentry as a profession so we can make wooden furniture. The related gathering profession would be lumberjack similar to what we had in WoD. I think housing should be accessible for everyone at a low cost and have a intro quest at level 15 or 20. I'd like for the plot (or apartment) to be expandable rather than having to buy a bigger spot every time we want to upgrade or expand, assuming it's possible to do. Depending on how they implement it, I'd like to have the option to have one house on each major continent max - but if it is similar to FFXIV's where housing plots are limited (hopefully not), then limit it to one house per account so rich players can't hoard them. Utility wise, I'd say no special perks that you can't get anywhere else. So rested XP if you log out in house would be ok since you can get that in inns/major cities. Mailbox just makes sense because it's a home and they're everywhere. Bank and AH access should be ok since we have items that cover them, but perhaps they need to be unlocked in some way (quest, collecting items, gold, etc. or combo). Profession workbenches also should be ok. I'd say no to mining and herbalism since that was a huge problem with garrisons. A decorative garden would be ok. Fun stuff - stable area for mounts and pets, battle pets wandering around, room/wall for archaeology collection from all expansions so they can be in one spot (bring back archaeology devs!), holiday decorations similar to garrison. Furniture - have plans/recipes and materials needed to craft items drop from multiple sources across all forms of content - do not try to force players into current instanced content or PvP (or PvE for PvP players). Older content/areas could get a boost in activity by having designs based on vanilla and each expansion drop in related zones and instances. The same could be done to find furniture unique to the various races. That's it for stuff off the top of my head 😂

Player housing is the feature I have most been looking forward to. Now I know we can't expect to have "The Sims" level of customization and control... but I do think a "WoW-afied" version of that should be the goal. In addition I feel strongly it need to add an entire new "collection" based cosmetic pillar to the game (Transmog/mounts/pets/toys/titles... etc). This should be setup in the same way the other items are "learned" into our collections. You are out exploring in the old world and enter an inn or house.... there would be key items that you interact with and that item (a chair, bed, painting etc etc) that you can then learn that would add that to your collection. Blizz could add drops to the dungeons and Raids that players could then learn and be able to place in your house. While this seems overly ambitious... I do think adding the ability to explore the entire world of warcraft and add more and more options to your collections would add a whole new layers of collectability to players. The trading post could have items as well. Of course patterns and other interplay between the professions would be key to learning even more items. If the goal is make the outside of the housing space be reflective of the inside... I am not sure why certain areas throughout the game would not be designated as player housing areas... and you would "join" a specific instance (basically a housing realm).... then you would be able to have permanence and have neighborhoods. (granted that is a big ask of Blizz... but would allow creativity and expression as well as motivate more and more participation. In any event... even if all we get is a super upscaled version of the Pandaria farm area but with a house on it... I would be thrilled since it is a start. Cheers!

I think it would be really good for the other professions to be what you use for furnishing your home, as you said, we have enough coverage between them to do so. I also think that a "Neighbourhood" idea for housing, where you can see other people's housing and there is an instance portal to get there from major cities, and you choose which city you want to have your housing in. Ideally I would love this to be Warbound for housing, as a shared hub for your warband, and that the neighbourhood would be your guild's housing

For me playing housing should be free of anything useful (crafting, bank, etc.) Just a place to decorate and show achievements and maybe some perk like faster rested recharge. Also I want a house per character and no one for my warband. I play different races and want that reflected. There's a lot of house styles in game, they can use that.

I've seen many comments now referring SWTOR strongholds and I wholeheartedly agree. WoW should just copy that imho; Multiple houses in various locations, both indoor and outdoor environments to decorate. Hundreds of decorations that can be placed on hooks and then moved/turned around. Also npc:s that really liven up the place. I made my Dromund Kaas Stronghold into a sinister nightclub with dozens of dancing npc:s to make the place feel packed ^^ If WoW manages to pull off something like that they'll get a lifetime subscription from me! xD

People are completely oblivious to the limitations of this game. I'm expecting ESO (or SWTOR) style. A house in nice locations in certain zones that anyone can buy. You will instance into it and be able to decorate it to your liking. That's the BEST you can expect in this scenario. No neighborhoods or seamless integration into the world. Also, I would expect a profession that works with this to create tons of different furniture, it's something that's within their scope of possibility. People aer going to get their dreams crushed if they expect too much from this.

I do think that to accompany housing there should be 2 more professions. With everything being account wide now it's easy enough to equip an alt with Logging and Carpentry. Carpentry could supply not only full items but parts to be used with other professions materials like cloth and leather and paper to create items. Logging would simply be mining trees. Different trees from different zones got towards lumber for different recipes. To the rpg element of the game that has been steadily decreasing over the years it would be a massive boost. I don't think now I've had time to reflect that they should be secondary professions. I do also think there should be housing specific quests to do but they are non required for normal game progression if you don't want anything to do with housing and they don't reward xp but only housing related items. Take a step away from "Run here. Kill this. Run back." Rinse n repeat gameplay and just chill for an evening gearing up your house for a nice break.

I would like the ability to expand my house and have it look bigger on the outside. Think garrison buildings from level 1 to 3 kind of at thing. If they want to make us "work for it" we can gather, (I like the secondary professions (instead of archeology we have carpentry, or expand archeology to include carpentry), the materials needed to make it bigger, as long as it isn't going to require crazy stuff non-soloable. Like garrisons I want to invite people to check out my home, such that you can invite others to see your garrison instead of theirs. Not sure how, but I want more than just one or two options to place my house. I may want an ironforge home for my dwarves and a perhaps a bilgewater home near the slums, if I want, for my goblins. I get that it will probably be completely cookie cutter at the beginning but location location location. Having a crafting station in the home would be awesome, along with cooking pots / stoves. Sadly gatherers may get shafted because if we try to go the mines / herb garden or small slough in the back, we are now back in WoD territory where locations will (have to) be limited due to the potential need for more space. As far as the inside, I like having the multiple furniture (and window) options for the different races, a mannequin or two for some epic armor that you aren't wearing any longer, a head or two (not enough space to have all of them) of major boss monsters, Onyxia, Nefarian, Patchwerk, etc. Also with the furniture, the walls so that my mechagnome can have more metal looking walls and steel beams vs my night elf who wants more of a natural looking wood and vine look. I also would understand having to go to old raids / bosses to get furniture schematics or their heads / hands / trophies / etc. These are just my initial hopes / dreams. Thanks for the upload Soul! Have a great day!

I think to test it out, their probably going to start small with like neighborhoods or something in the capital cities, or maybe even one of the redesigned cities like Gilneas or silvermoon, kind of as a reclamation of those cities. I also think they have to play it smart by having presets for players that just want to set their shit up and decorate it and that’s it, and something more intricate for those players that want to adjust minor details.

Blizzard has to look into early access and widespread player exposure to brand new evergreen features. The fact is they are too big and corporate now, and it is very easy to lose touch with gamers and go in the wrong direction. They do not have to waste resources and lose player trust on those costly mistakes if they play it smart. We have seen a few examples of those in the recent years, and now we are on a mostly positive track, but it is still a slippery slope, as evidenced by the slip-up on 11.0.5.

@SoulsoBreezy You keep mentioning that we have all the professions needed for crafting housing things... which would you say actually works with wood? None of them fit imo. I don't think it sounds redundant at all to have a wood-worker profession. Having an NPC do this seems backwards as we don't currently have an NPC sells us all the parts of a weapon or craft us weapons. Having carpentry would not have complete dominion over housing as it would require metals, and bolts, and cloth and tapestry (tailoring), enchantments, leathers, etc.

At first it'll probably be very simple and limited to a single room in you're capital city. In time I could see that spread across all major and minor cities. Unfortunately I just don't see house construction (survival style) ever being a thing in wow. Different prebuilt styles to choose from yes and in all honesty I'd be fine with that. I'm not big into housing so anything is fine with me just don't force it upon me or require me to mess with it all the time.

I still have by potion chart for the Horrific Visions. I was planning on finally getting rid of it, but now I may need to use it again.

I just hope horde players will not be forced to have that frakking orcish architecture for the houses.

This guy is adorable. He's talking about "unlocks" instead of monitization and using Blizzard's marketing buzzwords like "evergreen features." WoW isn't setup to give us something like New World or even Finaly Fantasy. It's going to be tiny garrisons that let you purchase furniture from the cash shop.
@SoulSoBreezy2 күн бұрын
I'm under no illusion there'll be cash shop items just like how things are now, with 99% of items earnable in game, and the 1% in the shop that drive people bananas

If people want houses that customized or the locations so specific they should just play Minecraft. It is not realistic in WoW and this will be my response to every single one of those complaints I hear. Minecraft is an excellent game for when you get that itch to build. :)

It's kinda odd to me that you're particularly concerned about crafting orders being done outside of a city given that you can already get an item from engineering that will let you create a temporary profession table which already lets you access crafting orders. Not that anyone is really buying those though, and they're a net loss on the auction house right now at least on my realm.

i hope with the player housing that it will let you build anywhere in the world like it was the plan with guild housing years ago there was a post from blizz and then it died and grow/upgrade it so it could be come quirky and put your own feel to it and or add rooms to it /add say a repair spot or stuff like a smithy if your a blacksmith and want to work on stuff like that or the proffession tables from the citys but you would have to build it or something like that.

Player housing seems cool? Glad it’s coming for players who enjoy that stuff. However, why is it important for players? Is it a thing players like in MMORPG games these days?
@mherrj2 күн бұрын
Yes its massively popular. Every major mmo has housing or housing like mechanics. Like literally every one of them besides WoW. I have been wanting this for over a decade.

Wonder if there will be a pre-arranged number of trophies being able to be mounted on the walls. Limiting how many boss heads being able to be displayed at a time, or the number of shields and weapons being able to be hung on walls. And then the player would have to change which head or trophy they wish to display in order to "decorate" their housing units. All the while there being a cap on the number of items being displayed to a low number. Ofcourse it'd be impossible or unrealistic to have the player display all 100+ boss heads from raids or the thousands of unique weapon or armor appearances. It has been 20 yrs of gameplay and content after all. Just hate to see the number of items being displayed being at a low number, considering we do have 20 yrs of trophies collected already. I got no stake in the player housing, its a ehh whatever feature to me, just personally I think it'd be unfair tot he people whom player housing has been so sought after for yrs to get short changed.
