I hate the current state of arena matches atm. Dampening is a cool mechanic and all but when every match has to go to dampening for a kill to occur makes it not very exciting to watch. Some of these matches i literally had to just skip up to the dampening point to enjoy watching. Arena needs to go back to the old days where having no mana meant something and having less defensive cds. Nowadays every class/spec has 3+ defensive cds with sub 2-3min cds that they just cycle through to negate the 1 or 2 burst options that teams have so it just ends up forcing teams to wait for dampening. There is a problem when you can have the healer be cc chained for 20seconds multiple times and still can get a kill.

You're wrong, first off it's easily possible to get a kill without dampening especially in 8.3 it's just most of these teams cancel each other out and also play defensive, secondly going oom is obviously still a big deal hence why getting a drink off is a art and vital.

@@1010thechamp Going oom isnt the same as it used to be. I still see healers topping people off with dampening in effect with no mana while the enemy team is training that person. That is what needs to go and it wasnt like that in earlier expansions. Yes its possible to get a kill i never said it wasnt. The fact of the matter is there are way too many defensive options and not enough offensive cds to combat them. That is why at the higher levels you rarely see a kill before dampening. Its boring to watch which is why i dont even pay attention the match until dampening starts. Dampening is a good mechanic to have in the game but its not good when virtually every pro game is relying on it to get a kill. It shows flaws in the system.

I remember dueling a blood dk as a prot pally for almost half an hour(tied since arena timer was only 45 minutes) after my friend and his teammate died...was a blast, but still super frustrating. Hunter never reaches top ten? Beastcleave and Jungle were several times in the finals. Fabbs even won blizzcon finals with Hunter. Jellybeans was in Blizzcon Final against ABC in 2017 etc. PHP or in America often called Cupid-Cleave is a popular setup aswell. In fact, the first mage that ever won blizzcon, was Alec in 2017 with Arcanemage+ww-Monk+Rdruid. Was not even an RMD. First RMD to ever win, was Method Black right this year. 2008 = WLD 2009 = TSG 2010 = LSD 2011 = Dk+HUNTER+Hpal 2013 = Shadowcleave 2014 = LSD2 2015 = Beastcleave (another Hunter) 2016 = LSD3 2017 = Mage+ww+Rdruid (first mage) 2018 = Owl+Dh+Rsham 2019 = RMD (first one ever)

What you're saying is you miss the games of yester year, when the HP was lower Rezi was a thing, and classes had less defensive CDs and everyone danced around the grave in the undercity arena :) But really the only reason the arenas take ages now, when players don't make mistakes from the 1st second, is def CDs, every class has 100 def CDs every healers has 100 Oshit Buttons to press, for the arenas to be more busty and quick Blizz would have to cut down on Def CDs less Oshit buttons for PvP. And to those who want to fight me, a druid and a monk don't have to have all the possible healing CDs , less is better, less means you have to think more when you use them. less means you F-up you take it on the chin weather you like it or not. I know these players are skilled, but I wonder would they have the same skill in the upcoming TBC arenas ? Where mana is an actual thing, heals are not as strong and you can't use the top rank heal all the time, where PRIESTS HAVE MANA BURN as do WARLOCKS. Remains to be seen. PS: No I am nota TBC nostalgic, but I just feel that the game now is lacking, compared to previous Xpacs .

Every class should be viable in this--including tanks.Having the same BS classes doing the same thing--I am assuming most have macros--so this is really just a few buttons and some rng.I was on a decent team with my lock a few years ago--but needed a change..I have a BM hunter and a prot pally that I play with now--partner is a shadow--holy paladin.WOW is an extension of D n D--and in dungeons and dragons--very few classes could beat a warrior or paladin.A tank already has its DPS nerfed and to add insult you nerf the armor in pvp to allow spellcasters to ignore many armor values and nuke a tank that should be blocking and taking way less damage--Plate armor should be able to mitigate all damage accordingly--including magic.I play melee--ranged-ranged magic and have no real bias except one--FAIRNESS,You should never go into any of these and it is an automatic loss simply because of the class you choose--they should all have an equal chance--including if a team wants to bring 3 tanks in here.I also do not mind rogues--but anyone that plays any of these games knows realistically that a rogue should not be able to melee a warrior or pally--almost laughable how wow has boosted a few classes.If a rogue is so good at melee and can dust a tank in a series of combos--have it pull bosses and try and dust them--nO--according to wow it is saved for pvp.BALANCE this out.

bTW--I felt there was little skill with my lock--stay in a LOS and hit some buttons--hide--repeat--it was almost luck or someone hitting a button quicker then someone as oppsed to skill--like using a melee to try and chase someone down while doing combos--and not an invisible rogue that can pop up behind someone--hit a 2 button macro and destroy someone unrealistically.Rogue blades in theory would not be able to backstab any class in plate.

@Sho Yu Weeni You're missing my point. They're the best of the best but that doesn't mean it's interesting. There is a reason why there is no competition in stamp collecting. Because it would be abeslut boring. You can still watch the first round, but after that the air is out. And the spectator numbers don't really speak for the event. There should be a redesign of the arenas. Pylons that are not permanently there and other elements. At the end of the day it's a game and should be fun but waiting 15 minutes behind a wall until the dampening is high enough has nothing to do with fun. When Shadowlands comes out and hunters can shoot through walls you will simply see 1 healer + 2 hunters running around the wall and can't be attacked while killing everyone. The concept of the arena is now 12 years old. The classes have evolved over 12 years and it is time for the arena to evolve as well.
