Learned something from TPL once again…improved my vocabulary. I am a bookworm & lover of language, so I thought I would agree with OP & warn Michael to refrain from using homely to describe a friend’s home, as I knew its definition as “ugly/unattractive”. But, I decided to check the dictionary, & lo & behold! we are all correct! North Americans (I think that means mostly USA) tend to use homely to refer to people , meaning ugly. But the British form is more often used for environments, & means “simple, cozy, welcoming…”. & Michael is Canadian so…makes sense. But M just be aware we your American viewers may hear “ugly”. 🙂 🇬🇧🏴🏴🇺🇸🗽🇨🇦🍁

I was living just outside of Dumaguete And thought I wanted to live on the beach. A House came up on Facebook for 28000 a month I went there and grabbed it. It was too small, even though it was a very nice place, much nicer than the places you are looking at. I went snorkeling almost every day, but it was hot there. UV levels in the Philippines right now are at 11 which is extremely dangerous from 10 o’clock in the morning till 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Living on the beach is not all that it’s cracked up to be. I moved to the mountains of Valencia where the temperature is much cooler and you don’t need air conditioning life There is much better than it was on the beach, you can contact real estate agents and have them call you first when A place comes available.

Flipino homes generally lack maintenance. Many fall into disrepair and its a shame considering that some of these spacious houses are located in a wonderful location.

The second home, while magnificent, I can understand why it wouldn't work for you. You work hard and need a quiet space to edit and unwind. I'm intrigued by the possibility of meeting lots of people, but that city isn't in my top 3. If it was a great price for a monthly rental, it would be tempting.

Seems like it’s tough to find a place people aren’t living in. Which doesn’t really work well for you. You are like me you like your privacy. You don’t want to live in a boarding house. Another option would be to rent a room at a nice hotel with space they do affordable monthly rental options in most of them. Some hotels have those large rooms with a kitchenette and a sala and a few bedrooms. Honestly I barely use my stove I use an air fryer a griddle and a rice cooker for most my cooking, all counter top utilities.

Why continue to punish yourself?? Look for a condo near the beach Sir.. You have all the luxury of a view, pool, gym ,and security right on or near the beach. No need for a big house for a single guy.. Get a 2 bedroom and make 1 bedroom your studio if you have enough money.. Plus your electric bill will be cheaper in a condo.. NOT LIKE THE TERMITE HOUSE ELECTRIC BILL.. Hope you don't have to relive that. It wiould be expensive trying to air condition those big places.
