You open your life up on You Tube, you invite opinions to come forward. Usually I hate negativity however most of these comments are well deserved.

Please do not be too harsh on Michael or Kat. This is just a theory of mine but for all we know the Filipino's attitude toward dogs (and other pets however loveable) go back centuries and are not far enough away from a time when dogs competed with humans for food that was scarce as to be forgotten so easily, thanks to three centuries of oppressive colonial rule. (Those of you who grew up poor but are now wealthy might understand. Have you really dropped your old habits of saving for a rainy day more than is necessary?) Michael for all we know is just being understanding of this, that is, sometimes the divide between cultures has a reason for being.

Aw this breaks my heart. Red is still a puppy who needs lots of love patience and training. I prefer big dogs like Red. They're great for families. When I first met my husband, he had a pup like Red who was pooping, peeing, chewing, and throwing up everything. I was not a fan of dogs at that time. But I adjusted and loved on this dog like he's my baby. Our dog is now 8 years old and he's the sweetest big cuddly dog ever. Super chill and loyal. Kids love him! Guess what, turns out im allergic to dogs, but that's ok..I can adjust and take allergy meds. It's not an inconvenience when you love your pet. Please keep Red. He's a puppy. Just like any babies, they need TLC and patience.

I noticed there are a lot of filipina sounding commenters with very negative and aggressive towards Kat here and previous video posts. If true it's typical crab mentality and expected. No matter what both couple has prerogative to do whatever but if posting these in public comments on both sides are expected. The big issue here are different cultural references towards the dog. Mike didn't expect his posts will get the backlash but in fairness, the channel makes a living primarily towards western viewers and membership. I think Mike totally forgot since he's been living for more than 2 years in a place where a dog ownership is viewed differently. A dog owner myself and passed away after 15 years, guarding and BFF to my 2 daughters. YES, I have eaten dog meat, it's somewhat a rite of passage on several occasions. That being said , I totally get you Mike (literally lived and grew up near where you're from) and Kat (I was married to a filipina) and my prayers to keep your relationship stronger and wiser. Unfortunately, that's what happens if you let your lives open to social media and partly make a living from it.

I come from the same places in Canada as you do (Kitchener\Waterloo & Mississauga) also I am a retired Executive Chef with experience in the setting up of successful pubs. In my opinion you are about to make a huge financial mistake. Goldens are incredibly loving dogs and are quite capable of any task given to them. You love your dog and The Beaver could definitely profit, both short term and long term, in having a famous mascot. The breed is more than capable of the task. Also, you can start Red's own channel using your security cameras. That dog clearly loves you, so please think it through.
