Hello update slightly later - Dont play much wow retail anymore atm, but did go to the top of the stairs again...Mind you not that many ppl around atm, bit less than the video, but im now seeing good FPS numbers compared to this video - Maybe some drivers or whatever also got better idk...But its more like 80 FPS fully maxed with ray tracing and 80-100 FPS without ray tracing. So maybe my numbers in this video is better for you aswell? I also thought for some reason WoW had support for DLSS, or FSR that would work with Nvidia GPU but no apparently.

I got the 7800x3D with 6000mhz ram and using my slightly dated 1080ti at 1440p and its like playing a new game. I run at 90+ fps at all times even 20 man mythic raids and valdrakken. I was using a i7 8700k before and getting 40-60 fps in valdrakken and raid would fluctate between 20-90.

Really useful review. Hadn't thought about undervaluing my GPU for WoW, but it makes a lot of sense. Plus, the point you make about saturating your monitor, very important. I don't see any point in running 300 fps on a 165mhz monitor. Thank you 😀

Yes, wow is more CPU bound. Anyway people say to cap your FPS 3 FPS under your hz of the screen. So 162 in my case. No point going over anyway kinda, just more heat and strain.

your system is still okay it sounds. Prolly even got 10 series nvidia ^^ It was much bigger going ddr3, 970 and i5 4590k. Just at the scope of 10 series nvidia is when PC stuff started to get good enough from my pov. But I would wait until Q3 and maybe bigger price drops with new cpu outs from amd, but 7800x3d is already very low price so ehh, more about snagging other deals.

I was gonna take out my motherboard and cpu for the 7800x3d but this show me it’s more of a network-bound since I saw a Chinese guy raid with the 7800x3d and he had high fps always with ultra settings, I’m thinking he is playing on the Chinese servers which is why his fps is high 😂.

@Djuntas Жыл бұрын
@@TheCramer1991 For me the 7800X3D is the clear winner in this generation for gaming. I don't want to have a CPU that pulls 200-300 watts when mine can do 55...So that alone is reason enough to swap. But no OBS would have minimal impact. But sure real benchmarkers they capture it through a capture card or whatever to avoid such things.

In Emerald Dream for example I can stand still, move the camera just a little bit sideways and go from 100 fps to 50. Moving it back makes it shoot up to 100 fps again. I have been monitoring it with RTSS so I know what happens (the GPU utilization drops from 85% to 50%), but I don't know WHY it happens.

Iono wtf they did with wrath classic, cuz as soon as wrath prepatch was live, it tanked my FPS during raid bosses. 5 man dungeon boss fights, its completely okay. 10 man raid bosses is completely fine too no FPS drop, but when in 25mans... huge drop.

Weird, I'll do some more testing today. But on 1440p with a 7800x3d on a b650 msi Tomahawk with a 7900xtx as gpu I get about 80 to 110 fps in valdrakken on max settings including ray tracing shadows (which the 7900 xtx really sucks in). 6000 mhz ddr5 ram (g.skill 32cl). Honestly, I dont really care too much about the HUB performance in valdrakken, but I came from a 12400f and that cpu would drop to 30 fps and sometimes lower in raid, while the 7800x3d hovers over 100 and on some Bosses even close to 200 in mythic raids. God, why are you lying to us? Max from Liquid has around 60 fps at best on a FHD monitor in Valdraken with i9 and 4090. Yes, wow is CPU dedicated, but mainly on single core and it has a stronger i3 than ryzen. So believe what you want. Wow is disastrously optimized and it really needs to switch to a new engine, because even the top high-end setup will have FPS drops and in a raid, if you don't turn down everything to a lower resolution and play at something higher than 1440p, you'll see 30-50 frames. if there are more than 15-20 people in the raid.

Man ray traced shadows are far from useless in this game. RT shadows give shadows to things that weren't giving off shadows even at up close... And they are properly accurately drawn with penumbra. Also medium and distant shadows exist with RT shadows where with no shadows you can clearly see shadow pop ins. And best of all shadows are entirely stable with RT shadows compared to raster shadows where you can see them flicker in the distance. And they don't use penumbra so everything is just equally sharp and looks out of place like tree shadows for example. The shadows are drawn in more detail also as well as properly shade what needs to be shaded without pixelization and sharp edges. But of course RT shadows is not for those who don't have the hardware for it it's gonna smash fps in half. I'm using RTX 3090 and it's night and day difference. Next step would be to make local lights cast shadows to make it even more effective (for example indoors) as for now it's from sun/moon. Also RTAO would make outstanding impact on the contrast adding even more depth to what currently AO does and will give even more accurate artistic presentation as corners that are hit by light wouldn't get ambient occlusion etc.
@Djuntas
@Djuntas 10 ай бұрын
Yeah I didnt say it was useless, just more its not that insane difference in WoW compared to other games. For most part ray tracing does make wow shadows bit better, but the FPS hit vs looks is mehh.

WoW is a game where single threaded matters. The game loads almost everything into one core, and the other 3 cores get barely used. This is why Addons/Weakauras struggle as its all loaded into that single thread. On my rig 12900k/4090. Valdrakken is 70-80fps~ (At its worst) at 1440p, and its the same at 4k (150% resolution scale). The game is so badly cpu bottle neck because of how badly the game manages threads.

its not just that game engine is CPU bound cuz its old as fvck, its from 2002 warcraft 3 RTS game engine. The fact that its compound by Server limitations too plus the CPU bias, makes it horrible in certain areas of the game or raid bosses running a lot of addons that parses large amounts of data like weakauras or damage meters.

Wow is CPU bias/bound. When you get a lot of people in 1 area like in cities, its basically server bound as the server can't handle the amount of data to your game client so even if you have the best CPU in the world, it will be limited due to the game engine and game servers not being able to handle a large number of people on screen at once in 1 small area.

@@sparda9060 In general yes I agree, but when you consider the polygon counts, texture quality etc of areas e.g. compare Orgrimar to Valdrakken, org runs on a potato without a CPU struggle, but vald will ramp up the fans on a 7600x with a 3080... While that is true it also seems that Valdrakken is poorly optimised and is CPU limited... I just wondered how a 7800x3d in particular coped. @@Crondal91 yeah GL, prices fallen a lot since I did mine. Still love my 7800X3D - its absolute 11/10 but dissapointed by my GPU...Loud coulwhine from my POV, loud fans in demanding games and then ofc the 12GB Vram which is not a problem...for now. Anyway I hate noise, and my GPU is too loud despite undervolt on it which does make tempts great.

POS comuter vs valdrakken is not petty through :P My old 4th gen I5 and 970 is not happy. Neither is my lower 11th gen I5 integrated laptop.

@@Djuntas it's only valdrakken where you need the CPU power. Dungeons and raids are fine with pos computer. It's wow man dinosaur game it will run.

@@henrykim4230 hell no. Raids 5 mans even worse. My laptop have about 60 fps all low settings in Oribos back then. Maybe if you have 680m/780m ryzen integrated could work, but not my laptop🫤 Another laptop im using temporarily now only is about 40-50 fps in classic wow stormwind all low even render scale. Granted its truely a pos…dual core i5 u 7th gen.
