WoW Classic player here and proud owner of this CPU. While my guildies are struggling with performance issues in Ulduar, especially Algalon, I'm chilling spamming my chain heals at 120+ fps. Also, 100 fps when circling the packed Dalaran. After so many years, we finally have a CPU for MMOs.

Hello, I chose a Ryzen 7800x3d + Mobo Asus Rog strix x670E-A + SSD nvme Samsung 990 pro 2TB + 32 go ddr5 Corsair vengeance @ 6400 mhz but lowered to 6000 mhz. What can I say? I went from an I9 9900K 8c / 16t with an rtx 4080super FE to this ryzen 7800x3d. Before the i9 9900K severely limited the 4080S. Now, the fps have more than doubled! happy with this configuration! Only problem, Asus motherboards are very expensive! in 2019, I had a gigabyte z390 aorus master paid 250 euros. Certainly, there was less vrm, drmos but there was a power button on the pcb of the motherboard and then the asus at the price of 355 euros does not have an lcd screen for fault diagnosis. And we could mention as a problem the consumption at rest and the poor memory management of the ryzen 7800x3d. Otherwise apart from that, in games the 7800X3D is superior to the i9 14900ks while being half as expensive and consuming half as much in games and more efficient. So I highly recommend the ryzen 7800x3d if your use is mainly gaming!

@Nnoggie I have the same B650 and I love it! However the Intel lanport it requires an update from the intel web site. Mine didnt work either till I updated it now it works flawlessly

i belive you are the RIGHT person to ask this , ive been driving myself crazy for few month now thinking what i should aim for to upgrade my PC , my current setup is AM4 CPU 3600X GPU 3060Ti 32GB DDR4 , and for a while i was sure 5800X3d which is a AM4 CPU is my way to go upgrade , but now thoughts of upgrading all the way to AM5 is haunting me :( it cost more ofc and i need to save a little for it but what do you think is the right choice ? im like you in many ways , i play wow A LOT !! i upgrade not that often but want a good upgrade when i do as well , can you help plz

You could upgrade to a 5700x3D/5800x3D, that would be the cheapest. I have a 5700x3D myself and it's perfectly sufficient for WoW, even when there are over 100 players at the world boss or event boss, I still get 80 fps. It'll take a while, then the 9000x3Ds will come, maybe upgrade to that straight away before you spend money on a 7000x3D.

Same CPU, but paired with rtx 4090. Can safely say New World runs at 100+ fps in populated areas.

Makes no difference with the graphics card. I have a 5700 XT and play games in 3440x1440. CPU is all in WoW.

weakauras and elvui will destroy your performance in raids if ur cpu isnt up to snuff

that's why on my side I removed Elvui and Weakauras since I can't play do raids anymore IRL too demanding ( Elvui became for me useless since Blizzard Interface has been greatly improved and Weakauras : yes I miss it especially for the kick group panel I had on mythic + runs but so far on 15+ keys it's going great and nobody complains ;)

As a xiv player I figured the cpu was my issue and upgrading from a R5 3600 to a R7 5700x I hope will bump my qol when playing, especially when running reshade. The 6700 XT did not help as much as I thought it would coming from an RX580.

3060 is overkill for WoW already, cpu is all that matters if ur not running high res and ultra settings

yes it's a drawback of am5 and ddr5 sadly. I think with bios updates there should be an option for the motherboard to remember the memory training should be called context restore, I haven't tried it yet myself though

Hi mr.nuggie , Torn up between a 4070ti or a 4070 for the same specs that you have , I'm rocking the 7800x3d with 32(6000mhz) ggs of ram and a b650 msi carbon ! The thing is i baught a 2k oled monitor with 240mhz so idk if the 4070 will be enough to get to that 240 or not please help me finalize my decision once an for all pleasee help ^^ , loving the awesome content you're putting keep it up 🎉🎉😎

I have a 4070 and the 7800X3D and the FPS is much higher on his build, so I would say yes more gpu is worth it. I also had a 7900X with a 4070ti and it ran another 10-15fps over my current setup so the gpu is worth the cost IMO.

Yeah supposedly the 7900x is slower than the 7800x3d, so that means the 4070ti was giving me those extra fps. For the money though I’d go 7900xt for the gpu since it’s the same price as the 4070ti and even faster. What resolution are you running, if it’s 2k or 1080 I think you won’t need as much gpu. I’m at 4k so takes more gpu.

15fps while solo questing? youre cpu bound as soon as there is 20+ players on your screen, that gpu isnt contributing anything where it matters

just use the latest update, expo is the memory profile which should be fine to enable

The benchmarks difference between the 4060ti & the 2080ti are 2 frames in 90% of games, & the 2080ti with water cooling blocks installed are less than 300 bucks on ebay, this is what I did (the 2080ti) for a family member that wanted to play FFXIV. ..paired with a 7800X3D Asus motherboard also custom water cooled. Right now EKWB has everything at a huge mark down for Christmas, it is just their shiping that sucks. ...but 25 to 50% off is hard to beat, & when you water cool 60% of the build is about how cool your system looks... I just wish someone still sold the 10mm fittings for hard tubing, for SFF builds I think it always looked best, doubly so when you used glass tubes instead of plastic. ...nothing looks better than glass tubing.

your gpu isnt a bottleneck in raids anyway, 1070 is perfectly fine for WoW pair it with a godly CPU

exactly , depending what I'm still learning after a mnth or so of researches, Wow is veru Cpu Bound , there is a channel very helpful named www.youtube.com/@HardwareNumb3rs very helpful to understand lots of things for Wow since it's not the kind of content Benchmarkers use to do ;)
