Awesome and invaluable content shared here! Thank you so much for doing this. No intros but maybe outros are ok since it's at the end?

Outros, called end cards on KZbin, and okay but see how long they should be based on your retention graph. If it starts to dip in the end, shorten or even eliminate the outro!

Your KZbin analytics in-depth approach guides us all to boost up the quality and viewership. Especially for a sprouting channel like us. We have recently started a motivational videos series for the young generation and our students. Thank you very much for your guidance in an enchanting way.

Thank you so much for this great video, Salma! I learned a lot from it, and will be much more aware of this as soon as I will be able to make more videos again. Can I make a wish? Do you have, or could you make a video on the outro as well? So that people will not dip off before the End Screen comes, so that they will stay and watch more of your videos? 🤗
@SalmaJafri2 жыл бұрын
Yup, will do one on outros too! That's where a lot of retention drops happen as well. Hope you recover fully and can start making videos again, you have so much to share!

MiLady, you rock! AGAIN you SHOWED how to use the tool instead of just talking about it. I learn so much from you. I did look at the graphs and made guesses about the trends, but what you showed here cuts the time I spend on that by a very large percentage, and gives me a LOT more insight into what the causes are. I am currently very active on my Afrikaans channel and noticed some of the stuff that you talked about, but did not realise that I should concentrate on the first 30 seconds. Will do so now. Will also have to work on my English channel soon... Thanks!

That is So Awesome to know! I'm happy that just by sharing what's happening in my own analytics, it can help someone understand theirs. Hope you can implement this info going forward!

It's interesting what you say about seeing you. I just did my first interview on my channel and I had to rerecord the intro where it doesn't see my face and my retention when from 70+% to 56%. Insightful Salma ❤️

Wow that's quite a change in retention and gives you some great insight into what works for your audience and what doesn't. I always enjoy understanding the ample data KZbin provides us. It's fascinating isn't it!

Hello Salma! Understanding the WHY for the audience drop-off at certain point can be tricky. For example, when I am short on time to watch any video on subscribed channels, I just mark it as "watch later" within seconds after clicking on it! It has nothing to do with what visuals OR sentences etc were made in the beginning !! I may come back later to watch the entire video. How does KZbin account for such viewer behavior ? Any insights?
@SalmaJafri2 жыл бұрын
That's a very interesting question! Which is basically code to say I'm not sure 😅 But my best guess is that as long as you watch it later, retention will proceed normally. Plus the graph is an average anyways and not everyone will be saving to watch later so the retention will show majority behavior.

Good info. For some reason, I don't see the Key Moments chart where you have it. I have a graph followed by "How viewers find your videos", "Top Videos", and "Impressions and how they led to watch time." In fact, when I go to the Analytics page, Content tab, there isn't a way to select videos as opposed to Live streams. What would I need to do to find the Key Moments chart?
@SalmaJafri2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alan the only reason I can think of is that perhaps you haven't published any long form videos in the last 365 days, since the Key Moments chart is just displayed for the last year. However you can still see retention for each video by going to the video > analytics > overview and then scrolling down to your retention graph.
@alantuttphotography2 жыл бұрын
@@SalmaJafri Yes, I see retention data for individual videos. We publish long-form videos weekly, and have a couple hundred of them. This is what frustrates me about many platforms is that they show different things for different people.

What about starting the video with the "solution" or "answer" and then using the remainder of the video for relevant context and information. So putting the conclusion first then the explanation. That way the audience gets that immediate gratification?
@SalmaJafri2 жыл бұрын
Yep that could definitely work but you'd have to be careful to maintain some level of curiosity so people want to watch the rest of the video. As always, see what the data says and make decisions from there. Love that you're thinking creatively about retention!

I loved this video! So in depth and loved the analysis. The google thing made me giggle. LOL! 😂I noticed that when I share stuff on my screen too -- must be because people like seeing behind the scenes and sneak peeks! Also I had to get rid of my intro too because retention dropped there. P.S. My best audience retention was the last video I posted which was 78% probably because of the sound effect that highlighted the sentence on the screen that told people to activate subtitles and /or translation, (there was a spike in those 30 seconds as well which told me that people rewinded to the beginning of the video, probably to watch it again from the beginning with subtitles on)

Wow for 78% 😍 Girl, I'd study that video and replicate everything that worked!!! Thanks for love here :)

Hello Salma Why don't you get views on a video that has a retention rate of 40 percent or four minutes of viewing? There are people who have a 30-40 percent retention rate and their videos are very successful.
@SalmaJafri Жыл бұрын
Hello The Intruder, what you're doing is thinking viewer retention is the ONLY factor that determines a video's success, when in reality there are thousands (maybe millions) of variables that the YT algorithm considers. What we, as creators, can do is create videos with high retention to give them the best chance of visibility, but visibility is not guaranteed just because you have high retention. That's why KZbin is much harder than other social media platforms. But the other side of the equation is that often, even with few views, you can attract a quality target audience, so the pay off makes it worth it.
