BTS is firmly rooted in Hip Hop. It's their foundation. They also do a lot of other genres like R&B, Neo soul, ballads, latin pop, EDM, Rock pop, etc. The three rappers are the main songwriters and lyricists, and much of their music is political or has deep social or psychological messaging. Butter is an anomally. An upbeat, funky feel good song released during the pandemic to lift people's spirits. Same with all three of their all English songs, the other two are Dynamite and Permission To Dance. They do also have some other songs which are just diss tracks, or hater clap backs like this one, or just fun songs. But most of their music is pretty deep and lyrically layered. Their catalog is huge too, hundreds of songs

Mic Drop was the 2nd song they did on SNL in early 2019 where I discovered them. First they did Boy With Luv- a total bop then this! So completely different and it was so mesmerizing to me- who are these guys, they are so gorgeous and talented. It was so fun that I had to know more. They do not disappoint that is for sure!! You have a journey ahead of you dude!

The BTS guides I would normally recommend are A Guide to BTS Members by Taylor Mari, The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS (2023 update) by Rice Squad, and BTS Hardships 2013-2021 by xCeleste. There are overlaps but each of these give a different focus. Taylor’s focus is the members, Rice Squad highlights their achievements, and xCeleste talks about the hardships they experienced since their debut in 2013. Mic Drop choreography is more of what BTS usually does compared to Butter. The songs which they wrote in Korean-English are deep and meaningful. Their dance practices show off how masterfully synchronized they are at all times. And their live performances are FIRE! It would be nice to react to the MV, the dance practice (if available), and the live performance all in one go to get the full experience. Thank you for listening to them. 💜

Mic Drop is BTS' response to their haters with a little flexing on the side spitting facts...lol. with Suga's epic lines "tasteless ratatouille" & "sue it". I recommend you check their latest live performance of Mic Drop from their Yet To Come Busan concert last October where it was attended by 70k live audience and was livestreamed by over 50M worldwide causing the apps to crash from time to time. There are actually 4 versions of Mic Drop. This one, the original version that has more Korean lyrics, one featuring Desiigner, and then their Japanese version. But you're right the Remix of Mic Drop is the only one with a music video.

This song doesn't have an original video. It started out as a B-side on their Love Yourself: HER album, and then became a hit with the remix. But I can link you the original song with a dance practice video and a dance break that they performed at an award show in South Korea. they also have performed it in Concert. There's the original Dance practice video and then live performances of Mic Drop both at concerts and Award Shows if that helps. They will be the harder version with the heavy bass and the insane Dance breaks. I've seen them do it live twice oh my the energy and the swag it's on another level.

If you do react to it though watch the one under the channel 1thek not HYBE labels because the HYBE labels version doesn't have English subtitles available but both channels are official. NOT TODAY MV & RUN BTS dance practice are great for a mix of hip hop and hard hitting choreo. There is no mv for RUN BTS only the dance practice. There is a live performance which is amazing but you get to see the choreo better in the dance practice.
