Got to give the goldfinches credit for actually spotting it a split second before it reaches them😮 .I used to do priming for a artist friend out in his back garden, a few metres from the extensive bird feeders,on a good number of occasions as I was painting ,a sparrowhawk struck, like a firework of birds exploding in all directions, and just see the sparrowhawk dissappear over the hedge, it had a preference for 2 " hunting alleys " it seemed. And last year driving along a very rough track ,i was met with a female sparrowhawk plucking a wood pigeon right in the centre of the track,I just sat and watched from only 10 feet away in my van ,then it flew away with its dinner after maby 2 minutes, very cool sight indeed. If you see it hunt enough, you may see that it prefers a certain vantage area, and then catch it sitting patiently to photograph it if you are lucky .Apologies for the ramble 😅

Wow... They are fast I've seen a couple before chasing after sparrows on rare occasions . Lightning fast 😅

A few months ago I saw some Goldfinches attacking a Sparrowhawk in the air……………….

I know let's put up some bird feeders and entice the birds to be sitting ducks ,,🤦🏻‍♂️ at least help them by putting a barrier up in the the shape of a bell and a mesh only little birds can get in,,.
