I personally LOVED WoD! I loved the questing/leveling so much that I continued to not only lvl all my toons (every class) I also made more lol. Didn't raid, I'm more a quest and pvp battleground type player.

I came back to cata classic and I have been enhoying it. My tip is do stuff differently. I played a class I don't usually play and took my time instead of speed-running max level. Find a cool guild and explore and shit.

I solo’d cata heroics at end of cata as a blood DK in LFR and the caverns of time trinkets That’s the only gripe I had with Cata was that it was easy for me as a decent but non-pro player and you were totally overpowered for the end of the game Idk, maybe it’s me but I felt like LK content was appropriately scaled in difficulty to each new patch

Real answer would honestly be classic era sod or cataclysm classic. Find good people to play with, join a guild and just enjoy the game. IMO I enjoy retail but I see it’s faults. The other two will help you get an understanding and fun experience

If you have the time, play era first. Be warned, it is very time consuming (especially as a new player). Cata classic or SoD would be the next best thing. SoD has been falling off for me personally though
