I started playing Retail only in 2020 but I played private servers a lot since 2014 and I remember how much I loved playing cata. I've been horde since WOTLK but whenever I played PVP i would make alliance for the racial of humans and that sound of stormwind just brings me back. Love the content asmon! The fact that you still remember the mechanics of CATA is insane!

So sad to see the heroics nerfed, cata was my first expansion to reach lvl cap after leveling mostly in wrath to catch up to my friends. The cata times were so good, i would read dungeon guides in magazines and learn about spells to kick and mobs to CC, pugging heroics after school where pretty much anything could make you wipe. Spending 1-1.5hrs per dungeon and sometimes not even making it, those were the good old days where you would be happy to down the first 1-2 bosses in a pug raid, constantly replenishing the group after ever wipe but everyone was so happy when you finally made it. Damn nostalgia

The launch of cata feels the same as the launch of wrath player wise, but I see way more of a positive reception on leveling and the intial gearing phase. The difference is there’s less streamers and KZbinrs trying to milk the relaunch so people think it’s a failure. In reality it’s quite popular, it’s just a more hardcore playerbase because cata is when the games difficulty went up and it scared a lot of people off. The guild im In has had 100 people online grinding heroics and honor having a good ass time doing so

Go to wowtavern. Grobb-US had 1200 people on it last night(both factions total). The numbers are extremely low. DPS ques can get up to 30minutes. Games already bleeding hard. A subsection of 30 year old millennials obsessed with 2006 memories of wow are not going to sustain this much longer. The well is drying up.

Yeah it sucks, they really should have made them pre-nerf. You can still get caught out by the occasional mechanic but for the most part you just run through and faceroll.

Man I was level 61 two days ago, day one of leveling from 61 got me to 67, then day two from 67 got me to 71, and now I feel like its the slowest grind of all time trying to get to 80., anyone got any tips? That wotlk grind to 80 is a slow slogfest. I hated it. But what i did was is leave the zone when i reached the level for a new zone and did quets there instead. Get better XP in zones that are appropriate for your level.

I remember Cata Heroics as being quite hard (on par with the harder TBC-ones), untill the WotLK crybabies complained so much about the difficulty that they nerfed them into oblivion and made them as easy as WotLK "heroics", and judging from how a freshly dinged 85 PuG (even with Asmon) can complete one of the harder ones without too much fuss, it looks like Blizzard released the nerfed version of Cata Heroics in Classic, which is a *massive* disappointment and killed my last interest in the game. In a way it's good I guess, means I won't get sucked back in to the quagmire that is WoW...

Was tempted to do classic but the mage I made is 60, with one PC t2. Thor Pally go smack! Go go deepholm troggs. I also recall at start of cata tanks taking alot of incoming damage from boss mechanics in dungeons... Our tank was good . But the gear was definitely needed to run more efficiently. Running the one deepholm dungeon.. with the giant rock boss.. (forget the name), Was 2 shotting the tank in certain pulls.. and AOE placements were a nightmare. This guy, 1:35:00 yeah, lol he stomp the shit out of our tank like a dozen times. A lot of my guildmates and I were in heroic icc/RS gear stepping into dungeons at cap.

I wish I could get into cata again but man, I just thought the expansion wasn’t that great. And with remix out, I simply do not care about cata in the slightest. I think the classic community really burnt me out. They are incredibly toxic, they gatekeep everything possible, and they min/max everything so fast that it really just takes all the fun out of the game. I hope everyone playing manages to enjoy it, but personally I think I’m done with classic.

HC is a nightmare right now. We have tanks from retail wow a la dragonflight pulling like its modern wow thinking its the same game, it is not, surprise. Tanks running right away to first pack not even checking to see if healer even changed spec or has mana. Just had a stonecore where i was in the middle of changing specs when he ran off to the first pack. I had ZERO mana. Earthshaper rages and wipes people. Tanks not using skips cos they dont know them. They never played retail cata back in 2010 so they are pulling everything with a little start over their heads as if they know what they are doing. I played retail in 2010. It was hard. People in cata classic wow are doing HC dungeons and some have ZERO clue as to mechanics or which mobs are dangerous and then i get the blame when they leave skinners alive till the end. The dungeon scene is a fuckign joke and full of idiots who do not even want to learn on their own. They expect to be fed this info in situ while the game is running. Fuck that. I am done healing. I am not healign idiots when then blame me for when they die cos they dont do mechanics. Go back to retail DF kek. I am spending mroe time in timeouts and CD from getting kicked for language such as do the fuckign mechanics and you wont die then i am doing dungeons. What gets me also is this chill bro attitude. Fack dat. Learn before you go and do dungeons for gear and stop fricken wasting peoples time cos you are wiping left right and center cos you are an idiot who does not know mechanics and needs to go back down to normal to see them in a safe space. Last two hours ive spent 1.5 hours on time outs and CD's for either getting kicked or leaving. Ive had nothing but truckign idiots in dungeons for two days now......chill bro.....no fack off

Everbody who used hard CC in HCs got memed on hard back in original Cata. It was only hard for random grps in the dungeon finder. The best players have not improved that much since then, but the overall playerbase is MUCH better. The HC difficulty is exactly like I remember it. It's literally the same thing.

When we all ventured into heroics in Cata for the first time, CC was very much needed in a handful of dungs to smooth out gearing runs. Once everyone was nearing preraid bis you could start barging through em. I can't tell you how many groups I found myself in on my huntard where utility made the clears happen without the group falling apart.
