I remember when I started playing vanilla, I was at secondary school, new to mmos, rolled a human mage. Took me a week to get into Westfall. Used to spend all day thinking about what kind of talent point I'd get next, what kind of mage I wanted to be. My friend comes up to me in biology one day and tells me about this dungeon he heard about, the Deadmines. Even the entrance was guarded by high level mobs he said. He heard you could go inside and fight enemies far stronger than what you were used to, so strong you needed multiple people. He heard that you could get loot several times stronger than what you could find in the world. He said he wanted to go explore them and asked me if I wanted to come with him. Practically ran home from school that day filled with excitement. It was all I could dream of and more when I first saw that gorgeous red staff on the loot tables. I'll never forget that magic

Me and my friend on horde side had also heard of the Deadmines, so we spent like two hours trudging through Stranglethorn Vale around lvl 19, dying over and over, till we finally reached the Deadmines, except we were only two, and all our equipment was broken xD

I know I missed out on so many dungeon quests first time through, so I've been working up a spreadsheet to make sure I don't miss any big points. I hope the AllTheThings addon guy makes a Classic version that basically does the same tracking, but so glad you're working on doing the same in video form. That red bandana quest is from the lady on-top of the sentinel hill tower iirc. But I also know that if a player doesn't do the first questlines of killing, pillagers, looters, smugglers, trappers, highwaymen, knuckledusters, and path-uh-somethings, then the woman will not have the quest opened for you to take along to DM. Something a little extra to know :) happy VanCleaving!

Back in the early days of vanilla, the Deadmines was the first place where I heard the word "tank" and was generally curious what a "tank" is... so I asked in general chat. A few people actually answered, very nicely, and so I've been a tank ever since. I can't imagine someone getting a "nice" response these days, but man was that a beautiful time, before most people knew much about MMOs.

Blackfathom Deeps (BFD) is definitely a dungeon I've long forgotten the details/tricks of, and would like to do again early on when classic launches. Thanks for the great video & content!
@baldie805 жыл бұрын
Awesome guide, with all the relevant details. Seeing the loot and also where to pick up the quests will be especially helpful. Deadmines was the first dungeon I ever ran, so it hold some fond memories (like having my bracers break after running back so many times. Completing it felt like a real accomplishment, and I left with a ton of cloth and a couple of nice upgrades. Not to mention at least a level's worth of experience (quests included). Pro tip you could probably mention in every guide: "Don't forget to empty your bags as much as possible before doing a dungeon run." Everything is expensive in Classic and money is hard to come by. Being able to hang on to more grey items to sell once you're finished will make sure you can always pay to train those class skills!
