I’ve subscribed. This song was in 2017 when BTS became First kpop group to win Billboard twice and perform at AMAs. BTS belonged from a small bankrupt company in SKorea, thus they all are songwriters and producers. The rapline are most credited artists as a group having credits for 170+ songs as songwriters and producers. BTS now is most awarded group in history with 784 awards, 2 Grammy nominations, 67 Korean Daesangs(big awards) and they are best selling artist worldwide for two years 2020-21 beating all artists worldwide. BTS still faces hate and racism but still they are the real artists who make music for us

I'm a 53-y.o. mom of 3 in Texas. I only speak English, and only listened to alternative rock (I was a teen in the 80s and my entire life revolved around British music from The Smiths, The Cure, Echo & The Bunnymen, etc)....but when I first stumbled upon BTS on KZbin a few years ago - it was coincidentally 'MIC Drop!' - my mind was blown. NOBODY else was doing music like this: rap, vocal, dance all at once?!? I've been ARMY ever since. Their discography is so extensive, so varied. This is because they lack the egos in other groups, which means not every song has to feature all seven members. Some songs are solos; some are duets; some feature 3-4 members; some feature only the vocalists and some feature only the rappers. PLUS each member has the freedom to write, produce, and release their own solo albums (called 'mixtapes'), which they release FOR FREE on SoundCloud for fans! With that kind of variety of sound, you don't experience the vocal fatigue of hearing the same voice(s) over and over like with other artists/groups. BTS is a 7 member group. You have the Rapline, vocal line and dance line: Rap line: RM, J-Hope and Suga (Jungkook is a sub-rapper and used to rap in their earlier songs) Vocal line: Jin, Jungkook, Jimin and V (and J-Hope is a sub-vocalist) Dance line: J-Hope, Jimin and Jungkook (and V has later been added to this line aswell). Every member dances and they are all really good at dancing, even though they are not official in the dance-line. RM is the leader of the group, and J-Hope is the dance/performance leader. There is soooo much more information to write about each member, but you'll learn more when diving into this rabbit hole ;)

I am also a huge Linkin Park fan. I saw them twice in concert. One thing I liked about them was how they mixed rap and vocals (and screaming). After Chester passed I thought I would never find another band I liked as well. In walked BTS. Their music is so diverse they can't be put into any box. Every song is something new and fresh. If you liked this one, and I think you did, Not Today is another one. Danger, Fire, No More Dream (their first one) We are Bulletproof Part 2 and Attack of Bangtan are all good ones. If you want to try something different, Black Swan, Blood Sweat and Tears, DNA and Idol are great. ON Kinetic Manifesto Film is a must see! Enjoy!

I really love your reaction. I loved the one for That That and I liked this one even better, so I'm definitely subscribing. Mic Drop to me is kind of a wrap up for their Cypher series. The rapline (RM, Suga and J-hope) had four Cyphers where they responded to the haters and Mic Drop came after that, saying that this is it, we don't care about what you're saying anymore. They got criticized by oalmost everybody and they still do, but at the beginning, it was awful, because most of them were teenagers, coming from small company, just wanting to make music. Two of the members came from the underground hiphop scene and they were dragged by other rappers for going commercial, because idol groups like BTS in Korea were at the time just percieved as teen music with no depth where the members were just given songs to sing and only had to dance and look pretty. BTS were doing things differently from the start, but at first no one really cared and tried to pretend they were the same as any other group. And since some of the members didn't necessarily fit the Korean beauty standard, which was expected from idol groups, they also got backlash from kpop fans. A lot of BTS' journey was about the conflict between being and idol and an artist, because those two terms were mostly seen as a contradition before BTS. Before them, it wasn't really the norm that idols would write or produce their own music (which BTS does to a large degree) or talk about social issues and mental health in their songs (which BTS do very often). Their relationship with their fans is also something to take note of, because they really make sure to always consider us, always address us in their music or their videos and always express their love and gratitude for people who support them. When western interviewers asked them questions about "crazy fan experiences", they made a point in talking about us with respect and admiration instead of adding to the misrepresentation of female fans by telling a story of one crazy person that doesn't represent the majority. After a while the interviewers got the point and gave up on that question 🤣 As for comprehensive list... BTS have huge discography, but we are now in a pretty important period. BTS will release and anthology album next month (June 10th), so you might have that to go by if you want. However, I would recommend a song called ON Kinetic Manifesto for you to react to next. I think you might like the message (though this one is not about haters) and you also liked the dancing in That That and ON is a very choreography heavy song. I think the song represents BTS very well. Other than that, I would also recommend a video that will introduce the members to you and for that, I'd say An introduction to the 7 members of BTS (2021 update) by Ida S. is a good one to react to. That being said, anything you react to with the guys, I'll be happy with. Thank you. You nice, keep going 💜💜

hi, i just wanted to clarify that yes, idols before bts did write their own stuff and there were many who paved the way, even if bts helped normalise it. jonghyun from shinee, in special, is always remembered for his songwriting ability! they all helped idols today become the songwriters they are.

There is a 15 minute (ish) video on KZbin called BTS Hardships 2021 update that talks about all the haters that BTS has had since their debut. The big music companies in Korea tried to destroy them because they didn’t like a band from a small company doing well, as it threatened their monopoly on the Korean music industry. The media that was controlled by the Big 3 music companies criticized BTS at every turn. The underground rappers that used to be friends with RM and Suga publicly criticized them, saying they had sold out by joining BTS. And when they got popular overseas, they had to deal with racism and xenophobia. So this song, along with their 4 ciphers and Suga’s Agust D and Daechwita are a clap back at all the haters.

BTS were the underdogs of the Korean music industry. They made it, despite people trying to get them to fail. We're talking sabotage, death threats as they gained popularity, crazy stuff. And now they're on top. I come from a rock music background. But these guys completely stole my heart. They're so authentic and original. Every single member is insanely talented. I am glad that you have paid attention to the lyrics, in the case of BTS it is very important because although they have songs specifically aimed at their haters and others at Army (their fandom), in all of them you will find messages with topics such as mental health, self-esteem , self-love, etc. And yes, BTS is the most successful and influential group of any genre in the world, whose fandom is the largest and most diverse in existence. We are tens of millions of people from all over the world of different races, beliefs, nationalities, genders, languages, ages (from little ones to great-grandparents, with the majority being over 25-30 years old).

Mic drop is such a great song. It was my introduction to BTS. I saw them perform on SNL and I was so intrigued because I've never seen such a performance before. All 7 members are extremely talented and BTS would not be the same without all 7 members. People do have a bias (favorite) member though, and that is FINE! Having a bias does not mean that you don't love the other members, but there is just sometimes one or two that you connect with more than the others. Maybe after learning more of their personality and listening to more songs you will chose a favorite. And maybe after some time you'll chose another favorite. All of this is fine and you are more than welcome to share who your favorite are! ARMY won't be mad about that, not at all! I do want to "warn" you though: there is always one or two in the comments who are going to write something stupid, but don't listen to them! Real ARMY love all 7 members and respect that not everyone have the same bias. For instance: my ultimate Bias is J-Hope (the first rapper in this song). And maybe you're gonna see me writing comments with information about him or maybe even suggestions with him as a solo artist. But don't ever feel presured to feel the same way or react to my suggestions. I love them all and I'm here for whatever order you'll watch their music. I hope the comment sections are going to be full of love and informations about all 7 members. Mic Drop helped drag me kicking and screaming down the BTS rabbit hole and because of that it's one of my favorite songs from the group. I absolutely love how they're flexing about the amount of trophies they've collected but it's not done in a nasty manner like other diss tracks could be. Another great example of this would be the rapline's song Ddaeng that uses a lot of creative word play to mock their haters. For a random bit of information whenever a group or soloist has a comeback (new music) they'll go on weekly tv shows to promote their new album and songs for about 2 weeks. During these shows the top songs are rated and one wins each week. It could be the group who just released new music or it could be another group who has had songs out for a while. Every music show will have a trophy and I think it's 2-3 different shows each week (EX: Music Bank). Now it's not unusual for BTS to have racked up 20+ weekly trophies with their music and their company has an entire wall in their building dedicated to show them off. On the flip side they didn't get their first music show win until 2 years after their debut - partly from being from an unknown label and their music went against the "idol mode" with their overall message being very different from other groups. Now fans can take tours of the company building and see this amazing wall for themselves, too!

The rappers in the group RM, J-Hope and Suga especially got a lot of hate from the underground rap community that they came from. They were accused of selling out, made fun of for wearing make up, dancing and judged on making more melodic or pop style songs. Now they're the biggest band in the world. Another great song by them that kind of addresses this is "Dope." "Dope" is also a really fun and upbeat song. It's one of my favorites. Other's you can't miss are "Black Swan" "Blood Sweat and Tears" and "DNA." There's so many great songs by them!

You're just in time to see their anthology album be released, yes, they have THAT many songs under their belts 💜 come join us for the premier of their lead single, Yet To Come on June 10. BTS is undoubtedly THE BIGGEST BAND in the world. Be it fan following, song/album sales, concert ticket sales, awards, streams, records or any other criteria...they sing in 3 languages and win awards in not only Korea but across US, europe, Asia...their online concert tickets get sold in 195 countries, any product they endorse or merch items gets sold out in minutes or even seconds. Even stadium concert tix for multiple days get sold out in an hour or so. And even after all the success, they r hands down also the most humble, sincere and genuine boys in the industry. They just love their misic and their fans and spread love to the world. No politics, no manipulation, no cheating, no ass licking, no patronising, no hate. Sounds too good to be true but yes its true.

I love the flexing in this song! And they have every right to do so. Sold out stadiums around the world, most awarded group and continues to break records! They have a couple more songs where the rapline (RM, J-hope and Suga) are addressing the haters. You could check out "Ddaeng" and then the Cypher-series (1,2,3,4. My fav. cypher is cypher 3 and 4). But my favorite kind of "flex" is in their song "Idol" (all 7 members). In that song they are adressing their haters in another way - by simply loving themself. Insteed of being angry that some people call them this and that they are embracing those statements as facts and simply loving all these sides of themself. So inspiring!

Welcome to the world of BTS. I am in the US, an older lady and found them in 2021. I LOVE them - even the rap stuff which I've never been into before. Oh gosh, where to start you...lol They have a huge discography. Most music, like MicDrop, is in Korean with some English, but they also have Japanese tracks and 3 all-English (more true "pop tracks in Dynamite, Butter, and Permission to Dance). Here are my initial recommendations, some are older but still great, and some are newer (last 2 years): Fire, Dope, Not Today, DNA, Fake Love, Idol, BLACK SWAN, ON Kinetic Manifesto Film. For Vocal Line Only (4 of them) - I suggest House of Cards (live with English Subtitles) or The Truth Untold (also Live with English Subtitles). For Rap Line Only (3 of them) - try Outro: Tear (Live), Ugh, or Ddaeng. There are soooo many more songs, including solo works by each of them, it is hard to say where to start. BTS also have had their own variety show called Run BTS, and a travel show called Bon Voyage which was replaced with In The Soop during pandemic (2020/2021). All give you glimpses into the personalities of these guys. They are so talented, hard-working, generous, humble, etc. etc. If you decide you like them, please watch an Introduction to the 7 Members of BTS by Ida S, or there is another one more up to date but I can't recall the channel name (I'm sure another ARMY (fan base) will let you know. :)

I don’t normally leave comments but I have to say I really enjoyed your reaction, your interpretation of the lyrics was spot on! I like lyrics with depth and substance as well as clever wordplay which is why I’m such a huge fan of BTS. They are all amazing songwriters and most of their songs have great messages about loving yourself, never giving up, and staying strong in the face of adversity. If you are interested in more, some of their best music videos (in my opinion) are: Black Swan, On Kinetic Manifesto Film, Spring Day (which you should really watch the explanation video for too), and Fake Love. I loved Linkin park throughout my late teens and 20s (I discovered western music a bit late) and I entered my 30s coming to know and love BTS. Chester's loss hit me pretty hard because I could relate and have been relating for years. On a particularly tough night when things could have gone extremely wrong SUGA's "Nevermind" carried me through till morning came. I don't have a tattoo yet, if I get some, would definitely be "... This was never meant to last" and "Nevermind"
