I helped manage a private ffxi server and we had plenty of tools to detect cheaters. The idea that a mega corporation can't is laughable. I have been convinced for over a decade that the companies are involved.

naturally. In few private wow servers i played on, drama that involved rmt and specific server currencies was usually conected to some crooked gm . After all , they can print the currency , why not give yourself a few extra bucks by either letting something go under the radar or selling something yourself.

Blizzard doesn't lose money because of botters. For every person that quits the game due to bots, they have 5 bot accounts paying the sub. They would actually probably lose money if they got rid of all botting.

@@ZOMBIEo07 the point is that not nearly enough people quit due to bots. You have to realize that if Blizzard banned all the bots they would loose all their subscription money etc. In addition they would have to pay people to ban the bots. I think the management just let it happen to have an excuse for putting the wow tokens in the game. There was a simple solution: ban the gold buyer not the bots. Bots are coming back, but if you had banned a couple of thousands of gold buying normal accounts, people would stop doing it at this rate. No gold buyers no bots, easy fix.

The only reason classic exists is because they saw how many people were on private servers. It exists solely to milk the interest in classic WoW in any way possible. If that means making more money from botted accounts, so be it in Blizzard's point of view.

you can do something but it needs way more than a simple lawsuit. Indonesia was known for copying movies and music. At a higher diplomatic level, Indonesia has been threatened with economic sanctions if they do not counteract. The result was a complete ban on imports and exports of CDs and DVDs by the Indonesian government (like 15-20 years ago). Since my company has customers in Indonesia, they suddenly stopped getting access to the software we distribute. Only after the laws in Indonesia were adapted, we were able to sell our products to Indonesia again without any problems. So it's possible if you want to, but I don't think that WOW is so important that anyone at this level is interested in it at all.

I know someone in a very high race to world first guild and I can tell you that while they do boosting for gold (obviously) they don't do RMT, neither buying nor selling gold. They usually will just buy stuff for gold during the race, and then owe that gold to the players, then they make back that gold through boosting and pay back the players who gave them the BoE items or split run items. The risk for them of losing their account is too big to do RMT. Now whether some of them have completely different accounts that are not linked to their guilds in any traceable way, maybe, but I doubt that's common, especially on a guild level...

RMT has been a problem almost as long as MMOs have existed. I remember a story where some moron paid $30,000 for a stupid sword in Everquest. When I played Final Fantasy 11, the RMT business was exclusively Chinese. They would farm NMs (Notorious Monsters). FFXI had a claim system where the first person to take an offensive action on a mob had claim to it so only the person/party who had claim to it could attack it, and get drops from it. I used to make it a fun pastime to harass RMTs by claiming the NMs they were camping, or if they had claim on one, I'd train a huge group of aggro mobs to them with a low level character and die right next to them so the mobs would swarm them. Square-Enix later made it so unclaimed aggro mobs that were a certain distance from their spawn point would despawn, but it was fun while it lasted.

My friend was a booster for less known boosting communities on Discord, like Sylvanas boosting community or Frozen Throne I belive? Boosting community and he was making above average wage here in Czechia, roughly like 2k $ a month but it was straight up 12 hours a day behind a computer 7 days a week for like a year..

would you all be surprised if activision actually sold gold to their own game they dont even have to farm it. you could literally just create money out of thin air if you worked there just give gold to accounts then sell it for real money.

as a gold seller some years ago, trust me, it should even surpass the hundreds of millions. if you knew how much people spend on currency for games, you would be amazed. i've had a guy, just to have a better gear than a guildmate of his, spent more than 10k dollars per day for at least 1 week. by the way, its cheaper to buy gold and then buy the ingame subscription than to pay directly to blizzard. its a deep deep world, that moves so much money that people wouldnt believe. and if you think it is manually farmed, oof, not even close... imagine a pc with 20 tabs of wow open, all botting, yeah, thats the basics. now imagine full houses or garages full of computers. one other topic is why blizzard allows... blizzard is behind it. or do you think they wouldnt ban or prosecute every website selling gold. and wow shouldnt even be the most profitable. I was 14 doing around 2k per month with Lineage 2, and i was a newbie botting, imagine in korea and china. Blizzard wants RMT to exist because it keeps playerbase happy. oh and i reinforce it, its not manually farmed, NONE OF IT. BOT'S that you pay subscription, and if you buy the "wrong" bot, you get banned, but there is always 1 bot that is allowed by blizzard, why?

I would love to be a fly on the wall in one of these centers, just to witness even on a small scale how deep this shit goes. I 100% believe that blizzard has a hand in it.

Solution? Go full ID necessary. If you are not a human being, you're banned.

They can put an anti cheat that won't let the game run on virtual machines. they could have done that 15 years ago but they don't want to

So, in blizzards eyes, a player who uses a fishing bot to level cooking is absolutely in the wrong, but if you are in a big company and do it to sell gold, its completely fine. What the f.

How has no one figured out how to “create” gold? If it’s that difficult to duplicate/generate then the actual generation must be tracked somehow.

I wonder is blizzard did the math and said we might lose too many accounts bots and players a like if they came down too hard on gold selling and then just decided fuck it it’s not worth it.
