I did too! I wish more could have been done with it, but I loved how it was integrated in with the expansion. The quests in the garrison were cool and the fact you could invite people in to your hold was neat.

I could see the mechanics of housing being similar to how you set up buildings in Garrisons. Specifically, the house has fixed number of "sockets" (ex. boss trophy on a wall, statue, etc.). You click on an NPC/control panel and for each socket you have a list of available items to display based on your Achievements/Feats (bosses, titles, etc.). It would be fantastic to get customization options for "interior decorating", a la furniture style (NElf woodsy), wallpaper, etc.

The problem with garrisons was that they were tied to end game progression and it was a symptom of Blizzard's mindset at the time which was so singularly focused on that hardcore endgame experience, but I do feel like they've stepped back from that a lot and have tried to make the world feel more alive. So I don't have much reason to assume that housing will be like garrisons. As long as they keep the housing system as a separate element of the game and not tie it to player power progression, it'll be great and it could potentially add a lot more value to the game in terms of economy, professions, and other reward systems. They could also expand the system to allow for guild halls and other cool things.

I really liked Garrisons and i would like the housing to have Garrisons features such as upgrading the look of your house. Have options to take it all the way to a castle or mansion or simply have it a humble hut. I'm sure they could do a lot with that without having it be as "grindy" as Garrisons.

I guess comparing new things to past experiences is just human nature. They are hinting at giving us our own little house, we have had our own little space before and it was the garrison. So of course most people would go to garrisons, I did.

Probably because Blizz "sold us" Garrisons as their take on housing back in the day. I don't think it will be, but I see where people come from.

@@CyclopsToppingWolverine I don't have anything right now, but I would start with blizzcon 2013, where they talked about garrison as your "home base" that you can customize, decorate, show achievements, basically all descriptions of "player housing", giving us the impression that it would be exactly that
@HeroesandLegendsNation10 күн бұрын
@@amirtitelbaum3145 They said it was their take on building a base like warcraft 2. Never mentioned that it was their take on housing. That was all the players (us) calling it their take on housing.

What I'd like to see and what Blizz will implement will no doubt be separate - but what Blizz implements will be due to factors I (and everyone else who plays) am not aware of. I'd love to be able to build a house in any racial capital city I have access to and am fully prepared for FF XIV style instanced "neighborhoods". I would hope housing is not a scarce resource and would hope we can stuff it full of memorabilia and mementos from our travels. Include rested XP, a mailbox outside, and a blacksmith you can repair & sell to.

I’m curious as result of player housing if we’ll eventually get any new professions added to WoW like a carpenter that could craft furnishings.

2:16 I don't think they were suggesting that WOW would charge money for the housing... They were saying "Housing isn't going to bring me back into playing WOW. I can play LOTRO for free, and it has housing." Also, of COURSE housing isn't going to bring someone back into WOW. Not really going out on a branch saying that one, @OfDeath. 🤣🤣

We know they aren't going to allow settlements just anywhere in Azeroth that people can walk by. Azeroth would suddenly look like Tokyo and quests would be impossible to complete. Because of this, most people assume it will have to be instanced or some 'new island' where that Anduin designates home can be made. If it's instanced, there's no reason for people to walk by and casually appreciate your house. I think that is where the baseline 'Garrison' comments are springing from. "Man, my garrison looks pretty cool! But who is there to appreciate it?" Twenty years ago Star Wars Galaxy did an amazing job with player housing. You could plant it anywhere and customize it. People walked by and could mosey on in if you left it unlocked. It was awesome, but the game was built from the ground with this feature. I don't know if Bliz is willing to Cataclysm their game again to add SWG level of housing.

I don't know how you know about settlements. We don't know anything.

Ya, I switched to FFXIV from WoW but never got into the housing since it seemed impossible to get one but couldn't pay for that subscription anymore either. So, I started playing LOTRO, in which, the housing is available at a very low level and easy to use. WoW players have always wanted housing but never got it until 20 years later. I am glad Blizzard is finally giving players things they have wanted, but for me, it is not enough to bring me back into retail. I have not played the last two expansions; I've heard good and bad things about both. I do miss WoW and have played on some private servers ( 🐢) to get my fix. I hope the housing is cool and I will be watching your channel and other youtubers to see what is going on over in Azeroth. Love the show though...btw...is it too early to get a fish sandwich? P.S. - Thank you for including me in the discussion. 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

It's very clear to me that they're making a dollhouse for us to furnish and style as we please. The thing we've all been asking for. Why would they NOT go down that path? Why would they go through all the trouble of making Garrisons 2.0 when that would be HARDER than making housing? They're not braindead over there.
@Hrogthar10 күн бұрын
I think people at first response are very excited for player housing, but they want to temper their expectations to not be disappointed. Some people are just negative for the sake of it, and some are using it as a coping mechanism to keep from being hurt if it doesn't turn out how they imagined. I think the most important part is people really care about it and want it, but want it done right and are afraid it won't be. I would rather people be passionate than apathetic.

I think it is more of a worry by players that it will be like Garrisons. None of us can really know 100% what it will be like.

There is a feeling WoW players are used to...disappointment. I think a lot of people are just worried they (Blizzard) are going to screw it up somehow and don't want to be disappointed again.

@@ScottJohnson Human instinct for sure. I think the players have been burned by Blizzard in the past and just don't know what to think anymore. I know that is part of how I feel towards them. I know that Chris is back at Blizz, hopefully correcting a lot of the bad stuff that's been going on there. I only want the game to improve and continue to be awesome going forward. My concern is that game engine! As it sits right now, from a trusted source (Preach), it cannot handle the type of housing most people would want to see. Not they have some time to address that but will they make that effort? I am hopeful that they wouldn't attempt this or even announce it if they didn't think they could make it as good as what is being offered by their "competition"!
