I'm a black female who isn't goth and would rather wear a black dress than a white one because I feel insecure that a white one would draw attention away from me and white make me feel darker than I actually am. Also in some countries, black shows the beginning of a new life and white symbolizes death (where my families history originated from anyway). BTW THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING GOTH!!

I wore a black wedding dress!! My husband loved it!! We had a Gothic shabby chic Victorian wedding! A white dress just wouldn't have looked right .... not to mention it's not my style to wear white. Everyone I knew kept asking me if I was wearing white, and I wouldn't tell them ;) Only my maid of honor, mom, dad, and husband knew it was going to be black. It's a shame they don't have more variety with alternative color's, because I ALWAYS WANTED a lace dress. I'm just a lace type of girl .... but there was no black lace dresses unless I got it custom .... which is a big risk since you don't get to see your dress till a few months before ..... and if you don't end up liking it your screwed!! I ended up with a style dress I never thought I would like, but ended up falling in love with it, and amazingly it actually came in black as well!! But if I could have gotten a black lace wedding gown I would have in a heart beat!!
