There have been many "Pop" singers who have dipped their toes in Musical Theatre. They mostly fail because the technique for singing Musical Theater is so different and it exposes their weaknesses as singers. Morissette is the 1st Pop singer that I have heard that can move seamlessly between genres. She understands the techniques required and has the intuition for great choices. I think she is one of the top singers in the world today!

As you continue with Morissette, you'll discover more of her genres. She is best in RnBs and Power ballads but we can not discount her conquest of other genres. She's singing covers and outside her comfort zones in order to continuously train herself.

I agree that Mori's ending (and the rest of it for that matter) was the best I have ever heard. Not that I have heard that many versions of Defying Gravity. Peter Hollens & Tim Foust did a collaboration on "Misty Mountains". It's a cover of a song the dwarves sing in the Hobbit Movie. Tim hits the low bass and Peter does high harmonies. It's a masterpiece! Peter edits the soundtrack and layers his voice over 120 times for a choir effect.
