Molly if you put your dark colors next to the sky line and go down to light colors I think you would have been more happy. When you are painting says there are darker at the top getting lighter towards the skyline. A little more white in your ocean mix would give you the illusion of wave rolling to land. It was totally fun to watch you do this theme with fluid colors. Do another!! Thank you for sharing💖💖💖

I love this, Molly! Of course, I’ll love anything that is sky and water, but your interpretation is gorgeous! I love the clouds… the one thing I would have liked possibly more, maybe is just a bit less sky and more water! But, I’m not an artist, so take my suggestion knowing that bit of info. 😊. I love how much movement is in the water, too! And the way the clouds change as you move, just like in real life.

Yes, I get what you mean...the rule of thirds...one third sky and two thirds water or vice versa. This is a term we use widely in photography.

Used to live on the Gulf in Pensacola. I know what it’s like to sit in the bull’s eye of a storm. I hope this storm leaves you alone. I love this ocean painting. It does look like a man swimming on the left side of the dried painting. I don’t think you meant it, but that’s what I see. Like looking up at clouds when we were kids and everyone seeing something different. Love it!!

Hi Molly, I had a “happy accident” today and I’d love to see you expand on it. I was pouring on a round canvas…I’m trying to get better at swipes. I tried like 4 times and decided, “Not happening today”. So I took small swipe tools and made short swipes, with Aus Floetrol and Amsterdam black. 6:05 Long story short, it looks like a patchwork quilt! I’d love to see you do something like this, I honestly have gained confidence in my painting from the things you say, I enjoy watching you create! Thanks for sharing with us all. Sharlet

Love it! As a landscape painter, I always use the theory of thirds. The focus point is always 2/3 and the less focal point is the remaining 1/3.

I almost cried when that one part slid off but the final,product came out really well. You make it look easy, it makes me want to give it a try but I am not artistic and I know from experience that I don’t have the talent… but it won’t hurt to try and will be fun. I’ll have to get my mom and sister, who are both artistic, to do it with me.

I reuse my paints. I scrape the excess paint off of my table and put it in a sealed container to reuse. Sometimes it may need to be strained. I simply use it as a new color in another painting with that same consistency. I have a friend in the path, she’s getting everything ready for it. My husband and daughter are headed down there they are a team of long haul truckers. This is gorgeous, Molly! I love your use of pearl paints in the sky. That's so unexpected and really came out great. I'm curious what the same technique would look like with various color combinations - not to simulate sky/water or anything in nature but just for fun. Like a light green side with lime green, purple, magenta, deep blue, and silver on the other. (Or whatever colors you come up with!) And since I love a bit of asymmetry, not making the sides equal. Hmmm ... Did I just issue you a challenge? Ha! 😅Hope you take it in good humor! Love your work and watch faithfully! ❤

I really like the idea here. May I suggest a thought? When you are looking at waves cresting in the ocean, you can see the very top of the wave is white, then you will have your green blue color and right at the bottom it is a much darker blue. And I was thinking as you pour the paint, try to think of that as you pour. Then when you swipe I think you will get the effect your wanting. Also in the sky if you would of put just a touch more white I think it would of been awesome.
