WoW Player Tries OSRS For The First Time | CHAPTER 1 Lumbridging Around

Welcome back to my series of trying Old School Runescape for the first time! Where I will be playing the game as a completely fresh player who has spent the last 20 years playing WoW instead, despite it's ups and downs 😂
Todays adventure covers some of the joys of every new players journey in Lumbridge taking on Cook's Assistant, Sheep Shearer and even Treasure Hunt!

To answer your question. Some weapons and armour do degrade but nothing you will deal with throughout the early game. And it's pretty clearly indicated when they do.

@@Karadus Degradable armor will get (100) added after it's name when it's first used in combat. Then it will slowly degrade in 25% increments until it breaks and needs to be repaired :)

@@Karadus yeah its mostly the lvl 70 def armor sets that do that you get from barrows, so for an ironman newbie its atleast 1000+ hours of gameplay away

i love the pov of a new player its something i can never feel myself again but it gives me much appreciation for the game when seeing new players find there way. Its wholesome its not ultra efficient like everything has become. I loved his reaction to Bandos armor, that is what made me make an iron to gain my own set then 5 years passed maxed that iron and got Bandos. Keep up the fun. i hope since the comments of the last video u found help in runelite for such a smoother and friendlier experience. cant wait to see the next 1.

Honestly love the way you roleplay NPC dialogue. Have seen hundreds of OSRS letsplay's, but there is something so genuinely entertaining in listening to you trying to guess the persona behind each questgiver. Pls dont stop with that style!

Just a quick pointer, those level up screens will stay on the screen until you interact with something (walking, talking, burying bones, etc.) or something interacts with you (attacking) the message also is supposed to show up in your "game" chat but it looks like one of your settings has it disabled. It was super cool to see a brand new player exploring osrs for the first time. Super happy to see you enjoying it!

Goddamn. The vibes in OSRS are just immaculate, and I'm glad you seem to be enjoying your time with it. Don't worry too much about min maxing or whatever, OSRS is all about making your own goals and having fun with what you're doing. On my account now I just chopped trees and sold the logs on the Grand Exchange until lv 85 just because I like the sound of chopping trees and talking to the other players grinding up with me lol

X marks the spot is introduction to clue scrolls which can offer great rewards.only beginner scrolls are available to free to play ,others you need to be member .Most of them are quite hard so people use clue scroll solvers😅

The only advice I will give so your hardcore iron man will survive longer is be careful running past the dark wizards south of Varrock as a low level. Many new players experience their first death and would hate to see you lose Hardcore so early into the run

OSRS is an amazing MMO, man. I really hope you enjoy it. A couple tips. 1 - Go to your audio settings and change "music area mode" to classic. And make sure music, sound effects, and area sounds are on. I promise you, this is the way to play. This game has an AMAZING soundtrack. 2 - The Jagex client (Steam, Mobile, etc) is fine, but you unlock a LOT of very easy modding potential, including enhanced graphics options, if you use the HDOS client, or the 64-bit Runelite client. Trust us when we say this, you'll be happy. 3 - Don't worry so much about efficiency early-on. Just explore and have fun! This game's like a living breathing Monty Python movie, so relish in it.

This is so good lololol I've played both games for awhile now but so fun to watch someone experience OSRS for the first time and your dialogue/narration is great. As others have said tho, ironman is gonna be very slow and especially if you go without the wiki but I respect you if you don't want to use it, just know it is going to be extremely slow progress at certain points but that is also how people had to play way back in the early days just wandering around!

I'm glad you seem to be enjoying the game, it looks to me like you're understand the game, you seem to get it :) Just keep exploring, do random stuff, do quests, whatever! Goals will naturally come up as you play the game, you'll see. You'll want to unlock or access one thing, which will send you on a journey of requirements you need to do, and those requirements might need requirements of their own. Progress will feel great and finally achieving your goal will feel amazing. Just meeting the reqs for a quest sometimes feels like a reward haha. OSRS is a game made to enjoy the journey! Don't take the game and its world too seriously and you'll have a fun time! I hope you continue, I'll definitely keep watching! Subscribed!

In settings, activities. there is a clue helper setting you can turn on, it will show you on the map where the clue is. If you'd rather figure them out on your own, that's totally fine too 😊

As a Runescape Veteran I loved this video dude. I genuinely love it when I see new players experience the game for the first time, especially unguided. something so nostalgic and wholesome about it to me. I hope you continue the series and looking forward to the rest! also I don't know if you have already or not, but joining a clan makes this game so much more fun imo. Really increases the social aspect. Even for an ironman like myself, seeing all the players achievements in the chat, and having other players to talk to and do group stuff with gives you endless possibilities. I am the 0.0001% then I guess, I love actually feeling like I solved a puzzle in a game, ya know, like other video games. But for real yeah they are confusing but as long as you aren't in a rush they are solvable, just don't go in thinking they are doable quickly. I used to dislike questing until I started solving them myself. (With some guide usage when I get really frustrated or have 0 idea what to do after thinking for a while)

20 years ago I logged on and had a friendly stranger gift me a set of iron armor. I, as an 11 year old, was JAZZED. I proceeded to lose that armor to scorpions and could not get 10 coins to make my way back. Now I've got a maxxed Rs3 HCIM and a GIM with my brother in the OSRS world. 10/10 would play again!

Sonic Adventure 2 still the last good Sonic game 20+ years later. XD About a month from maxing my HCIM after 5,000+ hours. Still not too late to run away yet before it is too late. Not sure if WoW has the equivalence, but the combat tutor you talked to in game mentioned it briefly. Having a Ring of Life and eventually an Escape Crystal is really important in maintaining hardcore status. They both protect against disconnects with Ring of Life teleporting you to safety if hp goes below 10% but not 0, and Teleport Crystal does the same thing but can also be toggled to teleport you when inactive for X number of seconds down to as low as 2 seconds. Both are member locked, but a free Ring of Life can be obtained from the early game quest "The Lost Tribe" and Teleport Crystals are eventually bought at the wizard's tower for 75k each at a price not worth it in early game, but eventually nearly free cost-wise later in the game. To your degrading system question, most gear doesn't degrade, however most ammo does. Arrows, darts, and other ranged ammo break 20% of the time when used. Runes for magic also break 100% of the time when used unless used with elemental staves or specific late game staves.

Fire cape is 63 waves of enemies before a boss that can one shot you For normal accounts, bandos tassets is 30m and bandos chestplate like 24m, as an iron, it's a late-midgame boss and those drops are rare, dragon defender will require 65 attack, 65 strength, and 60 defence, which will take hours to get there and then getting the actual dragon defender will be about another 4-10 hours, depending on rng. Slayer helm is easily 20 hours of just grinding, and the amulet of torture requires a very high crafting skill, and one of the top 10 hardest quests in the game to be completed as an Ironman. And dragon boots on an Ironman, some people just skip them or wait until you need them to craft the upgraded version, which will be the longest grind out of any I mentioned before. And it's all completely worth it.

The sword that the guy at 20:27 is holding is Arclight, it doesn't take too long to get in the grand scheme of things but it's specifically an anti-demon sword. Weapons in OSRS are like a combination of the weapon and trinket slots from WOW, and that one is kind of like Mark of the Champion from Naxx 40.

@@Karadus If you want Arclight specifically, look into the quest Shadow of the Storm to get the weapon you upgrade into Arclight. Also, I suppose now is a good time to mention that player was wearing what we refer to as the "Mom's credit card" armor - a joke from the early days of runescape when kids would steal their mom's credit card to buy runescape gold and get that armor.

Also don't be afraid to ask random people in game for help, if you get stuck as that is how we used to get through the quests back in the day. Best thing about this series is it can basically go on forever 😂 Btw if you do end up finding ironman too much of a grind you can deiron into a main at any point (but not back into iron)
