@@ThePrefessional Hey! Can I ask you a clarifying question? When you said “which tank goes first” what exactly do you mean? I’m just getting back into the game after not raiding since Cata, I’m more familiar with like a “main tank” and an “off tank” usually for enemy mobs that spawn in during the fight, but “first and second” seems more confusing to me, is it a contextual thing of when to switch? Or do you switch when the other tank is in critical condition? What if that never occurs? Thanks in advance if you get to this question, no hard feelings if you don’t though, great video, sending it to a friend of mine who wants to tank

@@Enbyous1313 sure thing! First of all welcome back! I'm sure you're overwhelmed, as I definitely was when I came back from MoP. I'll try to explain and then provide an example. Dragonflight and the War Within, raid bosses have an ability (normally called a Tank Buster) that requires tanks to taunt swap after this ability goes off. A Tank Buster will normally deal big damage and then apply a debuff that "increases damage done by the next tank buster by 100%" Basically this means that the tank normally can't take two of these back to back or they die. This debuff also has a timer and then it expires allowing the tank to take another hit. With this playstyle it doesn't really matter who's the Main Tank or the Off Tank as both tanks are always active in the fight. You could say that the MT is "First" and the OT is "Second." First just means the first person to pull, the first person to establish aggro, the first person to establish positioning, and the first person to take the first Tank Buster. Second, is the person that is going to hang back a little on threat generation until the first tank buster goes out, then they will take over. Ingame Scenario Boss has a tank buster "Crush" this hits the tank and applies a debuff that increases damage of the next "Crush" by 200%. "Crush" is used every 10 seconds The debuff lasts 11 seconds First tank (MT) is going to grab the boss, establish aggro, and position them where they want. Second tank (OT) is going to be present but not take over threat. Boss uses "Crush" First tank, cannot take another "Crush" or they die. therefore the second tank (OT) will now taunt and take over aggro. Boss uses "Crush" on OT. First tank (MT) will now taunt, grabbing the boss again because the debuff will expire before the bosses next "Crush" Sorry it's lengthy I was trying to explain in detail and hope that it does help clear it up a little.

Ive never played WoW before and just started a few days ago. Wanting to play tank but the idea of being "the lead" definitely gives me anxiety. Thanks for the tips!

There is such a massive ratio of experienced players to new players, that I can fully understand the anxiety. Some confidence, I've played with players who have hundreds of hours in the game and still can't tank well at all. There are some assholes out there, but personal experience is 90% are actually decent and understanding players. I can't recommend enough joining an ingame community or guild that is casual friendly for a more positive experience! Good luck and welcome to the tank family!!!

Can using GSE work? im playing WOTLK and the rotation macro is working fine I just started playing wow on warmane and idk if I'm doing well the only thing i can know is through SKADA add on but there are times the mobs i aggro ignores me and goes to our dps

I would say it depends on what you have macroed together. I do think an addon like GSE can be beneficial but when tanking you do have to have the option to go off of rotation. There are a lot of variables at play that can change depending on your class as well. When you aggro are you taunting them or hitting them with an ability? Is the DPS immediately bursting out damage on a different mob than the one you have targeted? Are you not tab targeting through multiple mobs? Are you not using your AOE threat generators? Does your class require a slight build up to generate its maximum threat and you just don't have it built yet? Those are where I would start. Also make sure whatever you have macroed is the correct general rotation for the situation that you're in.

Maybe I'll finally give it a try in MoP Remix ... but rotations are always kind of an issue for me, like there are so much talents to know and remember it losts me :')

Go for it! It seems like most classes have an absurd amount of buttons! lol. If you want to start slower. Guardian druid is the least intensive tanking rotation. Next would be paladin. They are two of the more beginner friendly tank classes due to a more simple rotation.

When it comes to Tanking and Healing people will always be TOXIC and there for people rather dps than going with a Tanking Or Healing class.

Honestly toxicity is everywhere. The mistakes that people make are just more noticeable if you're a tank or healer because of how crucial the role is. It sucks, but it is what it is. I can honestly say that my bad/toxic group to every good group I have is about 1 in 20. Those instant queues and high demand are very worth it, IMO
