My nonna (grandma) has an Italian style house from the seventies. The whole house has super varnished staircases and tails floors that are polished daily. One time I fell down the massive staircase and hit the tile and oof. Also there’s carpet on the side of her bathtub. Thankfully not the floor tho. Also every cabinet and staircase is this orange wood with yellow varnish. The walls in the bathroom have tiles printed with flowers. It’s probably the ugliest house I’ve ever been in but it’s huge and has memories so I love it😂

You know what makes that one with the books cut in half even worse? One of them is Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, and one of the big points in that book is that there are a lot of endnotes, including some chapters that are in the endnotes.
